  1. If you end up running 500hp at the crank in the 180 I bags a ride at the next DECA/Track day I see you at, promise I will wear two pairs of undies.
  2. sorry what I meant was that a GT-R built to similar specs with the same budget as Adam's car would be equally as fast. The lap time diff would then be driver based rather than Gtst vs GT-R, at that point of development, both cars cost a bomb and go like stink.
  3. Chassis prolly couldn't handle 500hp It's just making me want a GT-R more lol
  4. To be fair Dane, I think any car modded to Adam's level with that sort of budget would be very fast and the difference would likely e driver based. You can't just buy his driving skill.
  5. Wow, that's the sort of thing I'm talking about and to an extent I have even seen it in my car. I rounded a stock standard Evo X at Winton in the big left handed sweeper with less power simply due to weight and semi slicks. All that for a fraction of the cost =\ I know you're the minister of RB20 propaganda, and I've seen Russells 32 in action also.... and it just makes it that much harder lol. Weight seems to be a big factor, what are people getting their GT-R's down too?
  6. Already sounds like I'm gonna cop it lol With what you were saying Roy, that idea kills me. The concept of needing 350-370awkw to run similar lap times to an S14 with 235rwkw (when from what i know the SR would do that on a good stock bottom end but the GT-R would not). Which is why I get torn =\
  7. Hard to know how big a statement that is without knowing what the S14 has done to it and how well trained the driver is vs the GT-R's that were there, but I see the point you're making. I think for me... in the end.. if I don't go GT-R I will always be left wanting.
  8. Ahh I get you, this leads into my response for the quote below... This sounds like me to a tee. I want to do what is "smrt" and not spend too much money for the given lap time, but in the end I keep coming back to wanting another GT-R. The only part of that I'm concerned about is down the track if/when I decide to get a bit more serious, tarmac rally, door to door or something. I know at that point I'll have to ditch it as a streeter but am I going to run into any other headaches having chosen the R? This is an interesting comment, I think what you mean is faster for the same money or do you mean go faster for less money? I also think there's probably more people campaigning S-Chassis due to cost savings and the lighter chassis. Sidebar: Was there ever a GT500 class S chassis?
  9. Roy: I've got an S13 atm, not an R33 Kaido: For sure, extra weight means extra cost everywhere, even when towing it somewhere...
  10. I guess to be honest track use is more important since I do my utmost to keep my shenanigans to a legal environment and my license loves me for it now. That said I really miss having something t punt around on the occasional weekend, I'm not even talking every weekend. The S-Chassis in my head just has no class and I generally feel a bit embarassed to drive mine to a workshop etc, I put the street rims on and ditch the spoiler so I don't look like some try hard =\ As girly as it sounds, I think my heart lies with the R, the cost is the barrier, as it is for most of us =\ Who wants an S13 as part trade on an R33 GT-R? lol
  11. My 33 GT-R was a V-spec with the A-LSD also and I found it to be awesome coming out of corners at all speeds but I wasn't sure if that was ATTESSA or just a great suspension setup and good tyres all round. Whenever I watch Tsuchiya-san and his Touge battles a well setup RWD car usually has the edge in the twisty stuff though due to understeer. I think the current Touge monster is an RX7? which took the crown from an R34 GT-R if I recall correctly?
  12. Yeah I've seen his name pop up here and there and met him at my first DECA. I kept confusing him with Nick who ended up doing a bottom end on the day I think? Having said that, he had much love for the upper end of the rev range.. Here's another thought... The AWD of the GT-R on a 33 is only really advantageous if the rears are spinning right? Or is there a constant drive to the fronts? If they only engage when the frons are spinning then you're losing time with all the rear end traction lose in a way... And if you're not using he fronts then u'r ust carrying the weight for nothing.
  13. Well that depends on what exactly is the right amount of coin I guess As it is I have two cars, the S13 and a BA Fairmont I use for towing the S13 to events so I dont have to worry about busting it. 3 Cars is not an option.
  14. Subscribed just because my head is in a similar spot as to what to head forward with. Proceed...
  15. To an extent that's true but I would also like to step up into things like the Winton Sprint series and be competitive. Sure you can have lot of fun at a fun day not competing but I get a buzz out of competing too and that's a little less fun if you're being pummeled. Evidently, when reading through results from the turbo category, it's an R33 GT-R at the pointy end of the field most rounds...
  16. Such is the battle of the heart vs brain =\ What bothers me also thogh is the idea that someone in an S-Chassis who has spent a great deal less will chop me at the track, not because he or she is actually a better driver, just because the car is a better platform for racing I think I said to Sav in PM, lotto would solve this...
  17. Yeah I thought that was the prie now days which is why I had my queries about cost vs performance etc. I'm still undecided
  18. I don't think so, it's on car sales for the same sort of money. A thorough inspection would be in order...
  19. Those are the critical details, That's a reasonable mods list then and would add up to a few bucks on either car. As to whether a GT-R with the same mods and suspension/brakes would be any quicker for the extra it would cost well that's another story..
  20. It would be interesting to get full specs on that car and known build costs etc. With the restrictors, what psi does that limit cars too and are they free to choose what turbo?
  21. While the clip is great, there aren't any GT-R's in it and the S14 driver is either way better or has more grip, he's getting out of the corners so much quicker that he looks to have a straight line speed advantage but if the cars are supposed to eb equal performance wise I'm not sure what's going on there. That's also a pure track only car, noweekend cruises in that baby lol
  22. Sorry that sounded wanky, I mean comfort and space etc for cruising and weekend trips not street cred, I'm too old to care about cred plus that mentality almost cost me license a few times... lol
  23. Yeah I thought of Chris when thinking about this question, and Ryan also havign seen impressive performance from both and witnessing CT's GT-R first hand at DECA. In terms of which car is a better multi purpose vehicle, that is, swap off the track rims/tyres for some street friendly ones and go for a cruise the Silvia doesn't seem that appealing in that way. The cost differential appears to be quite large though =\ "And I shouldn't be supporting the S chassis... it's not supporting me!" <--- gold
  24. OK it's time someone besides Sav waved the GT-R flag. Why is the GT-R a better platform, if it's going to cost much more for the same performance why would anyone build a GT-R, or are you all saying that the S chassis is a lot of the performance for far less of the price?
  25. I'll be honest... I didn't expect there to be so much support for S chassis on SAU Well maybe from you Dane
