  1. I think you're the only one asking because the answer has been already supplied. I didn't get rid of it because I didn't like it. I still admire the car when I see it in the street coz it's so sleek and light. You should ask the owner of www.200sx.org why he sold his 200 and got a XR6T. Basically I need to tow my boat. It's that simple.
  2. Maybe a moderator can close this thread to make it less painful for you to read. Typhoons are great, and if I was in the market for one I would reconsider it again. I did have one on order late last year but with the bad performance reviews and clutch issues I resorted to cancelling. Now all has been fixed, including performance so it should be a great car.
  3. I think those VL turbo guys would be happy with their nissan engines or was it just the turbo?
  4. Well said Geoff. It's a shame that what was once an informative and friendly thread to most users have been ruined by a few individuals who either think they've got a car that nothing else compares to or they just want to have a shit stir to give them a laugh. To tell you honestly, when I started this thread I knew that a stock GTR in good condition is faster than my car. My real intention was really to find out what needs to be done to a skyline GTST to make it go as quick as the new hsv's. I have a friend who keeps telling me that he'll beat me in his auto R33 GTST who is also a active member on this forum. At least when I talk to him I will better understand what he's saying and also give him credit where it is due. I've learnt what I wanted to in the first few pages of this thread. It's a shame that when one person starts flaming, all those who have been holding back then decide to join in. I expected being flamed and tried to minimize it by getting all the bad calls out and I was in fact surprised to see that 95% of the members on this forum did not reply badly. I remember SkylineKiller started a thread where he was putting down the GTR which he got flamed badly for. That was understandable however it is dissappointing that even when I try to talk civilly with an open mind(skylinekid may disagreee) I still attract the heat. Andrewwr32, I don't know why you bother to reply if you don't even bother to read the thread. At least you will know what and who you are flaming about. If you're here to shit stir then I'm not the type of person who wants to shit stir back. It doesn't send a good image of the poster to the rest of the members. Old men? If you call 26 old then I'm old. Am I a bogan? If asian guys can be seen as bogans then I'm one. I don't drink so I don't go to pubs. I'd love to have a porshe but don't have the money for it and don't think I could get it financed from company. My partner works at bmw so we have one already. I didn't buy a GTR for reasons I already posted. As for people who think this thread should not be in a skyline forum, I thought it would fit in well under the "skyline and OTHER vehicle" thread. It might be about HSV's but it is about the GTR and GTST as well. Just to clear things up with you Andrew and other critics. My opinion is: 1)GTR and GTST has better overall PERFORMANCE than my HSV. 2)HSV has good straight line performance. 3)Stock GTR in good condition that dumps the clutch will mostly win against stock HSV in straight line. 4)Stock GTST will not likely win against HSV in straight line. 5)Different people have different needs from cars. Now you know what my opinions are, you can better argue/flame me. I don't want to argue about things I already agree with you. It'll be just a waste of time. Andrew, I noticed that you have just picked up your new GTR32 last week. I'll take it that you're still on a high. I hope you enjoy your ride, but don't make the mistake that you'll be invincible in it and that no other cars out there will give you a run for your money.
  5. The time sheets on the ls1 forum indicate that 11.7 has been achieved from cars with power levels from 240-485rwkw. But then again getting a car to go that quick with 240rwkw is hard to believe. Maybe the dyno was stuffed. http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/timeslips.php?...rpage=25&page=2
  6. Next time you drive on country highways look out for weigh bridge signs. If it's open then just pull into one and weigh your car.
  7. You must be dragging in the states against a PONTIAC as I don't recall a aussie monaro having a ls2 engine. Maybe you are referring to the HSV GTO. I hope you're still not judging the car on the Prado experience.
  8. My aussie S15 had leather steering wheel. That must of been part of the GT(limited edition) one.
  9. You sure like to stir the pot don't you SkylineKid? Yes you are being a bit sensitive. If you think that there are no 15 year old lemons out there then you live in a perfect world. There are one day old lemons from the holden or ford factory. In regards to the burnt clutch comment, I had no negative connotations when I said that about skylines. I've tried dumping clutch when reving hard in both my holden and s15 and have experienced the smell of burnt clutch coming from my vents. I can't remember saying my car is a better car than yours overall. If I did then I apologize. I however have stated which areas I think my car will be better. The only thing I'm confident about is that my car is best for ME.
  10. Dont' quote me on it but I think the jap spec has a bigger turbo. Do a google search to find out for sure. The jap spec has got a rear window wiper and also various other differences.
  11. No offence mate but whatever I have written I was referring to myself. I did not preach that my car is suitable for everyone. Just as I don't criticise you for have your 3 cars to suit your purpose. That's great that you can buy 3 of your cars while I can only buy one car. That is not my aim. I have one garage and I don't have time to get multiple cars serviced. At no stage that I am saying my car is better than yours. I have only highlighted the good points of each car and sharing my experience. I don't know what you are trying to achieve with your negative comments but if it makes you laugh, good on you.
  12. I had one a few months back. The spec R GT. They are quite a nice ride. Looks especially good without the spoiler. Sticks to the road like a cat on carpet. That's only in the dry though. Throw some water on the road and you gotta be careful coz you can be caught out on boost. S15 from memory is 147kw. I think the jap spec is about 180kw or something. The aus spec does 0-100 about 6.4-6.5 whereas the jap spec will do it in high 5's. I had a cat back on mine and it responded very well. They are good to mod. Anyways good luck. They are fine cars.
  13. Full tank is around $80 using optimax based on 75litre capactiy. I haven't noticed seeing the fuel meter going down the way you have but when I first got the car it drank like crazy. 22 litres/100kms but now things have settled down and the car is chewing about 15 litres/100km.
  14. I thought we were comparing a GTST/GTR. Since when did the StageEA come into the equation? What is it? I've never heard of it. Sounds like a beefed up truck to me. Skylinegeoff is right. If you want the best of everything you need a car for each occassion. Something that only a few individuals are fortunate enough to cater for. Be it cost, garage space, or time to maintain them. You're one of these people who can have all. You sound like you know a bit about cars since you maintain your vehicles youself. For the rest of us who aren't lucky enough to cater for this we have to find A vehicle which will best suit our purpose.
  15. You should of bought it It would of been snapped up pretty quickly.
  16. I thought my points were relatively valid. If you wanted to tow a boat and have speed I'm sure you wouldn't pick the landcruiser. Same can be said about if your aim is speed why not just get a motor bike? Depends on the individual. My boat is 4.5 meters and I towed it with a V6 easily. But you're right the larger the boat the more strain it'll put on the car so go the 4x4. It depends if you want a full on sports car, full on family car, or in between? That's why I got rid of my silvia to get my current ride. If I was young forever and didn't need space then yeah sure I would of stuck with a small jap car. I started this thread asking about purely straight line performance because I know that comparing other areas is pointless because the answers would be obvious or not worth comparing. As for the having more weight in the car, you will feel "LESS" of an impact in a larger car. Add one or 2 passengers in the S15 and it feels like a dog. Add that amount to my car and the power difference is not enough for me to take notice of. I would hardly compare statutory warranty with those that dealers issue. I have both statutory and dealer used car warranty. The dealer used car warranty I would take as a grain of salt because it has all these conditions on it. Sorry, please don't quote me on the prices I wrote for the skylines as it depends on age of car etc. I'm no expert on them and are basing it on prices that I saw awhile ago. A R34 GTR for 60K I would definitely be interested in if it was in good nick and if I was in the market for a 2nd car.
  17. I searched and couldn't find answer/and or comments on these; "How much did you pay for it? How many GTST's can I buy for that?" About 53K on road. That's 1 late model R34GTT and 15K change for mods? Or 4 R32 GTSTS? Or 3 GTSTS? Or 1 good nick 96 R33 GTR? Or half a R34 GTR? But then again it's more relevant to compare new price with new price. "How fast is it in the rain? Our GTR's are just as fast." Yeah.. your GTRs are probably fast as or faster in the dry so the answer is obvious. "How fast is on a bumpy/dirty road surface? Our GTR's are just as fast." Yeah that answer is obvious too. All to do with 4w4 and chasis design. Sports chasis vs family chasis? "That's the advantage of a GTST on a performance per dollars basis they are unbeatable. The additional advantage of a GTR is traction.:cheers" No arguments there. You have overlooked the practicality advantage of the HSV. It's a family sports car not raw sports car like GTR. I can ask you some questions back: 1)Can you tow a boat or trailor? 2)Do you get any lag? 3)Can you have a full car load and not feel a substantial change in accelleration rate? 4)Do you have warranty? 5)Are there lots of service centers that specialize in your car? 6)And last but not least, do you have much space in the back to make out with your partner? hahaha
  18. I think I've already posted some pics in this thread already but heres a couple more:
  19. I have a GTECH. If a GTST owner in melb wants to do a test with me then I'll be happy to cater. We can compare 0-100km/h times and post results up. Be it a stock or modded GTST. Throw in a stock GTR if you want to make it more interesting.
  20. I went on a 600km trip over the long weekend. Average fuel used was 9.7litres per 100km. In 6th gear cruising at 100km/h it revs at 1600rpm. That's pretty efficient. As for city driving, I average 15litres per 100km. What does a R33 do?
  21. No I didn't know that. Maybe I am in the minority. They're not built as well as the jap cars but if you're basing your opinion on straight line accelleration then you need to get out more and drive one of these v8's in order to have a more informed opinion and not base your opinion on this Prada vs SS experience.
  22. Come to Calder drag strip and you'll see a few Fords and holden crack 12's with street tyres. But then again you're not from Melb. As for the 14's on stock, that's probably right for Ford but not the new HSV. Should be around mid 13's.
  23. I guess the skyline guys I talked to were right when they said that the problem with these gtsts are that there are quite a few out there with poor suspension/tyres therefore it doesn't matter how much more power they add to their car they can't launch properly. That probably explains why you do well up top when traction isn't an issue.
  24. You got a fair bit of power given the weight of your car. You should of taken the GT and SS not only high end but up to 100km/h as well.
