  1. Actually I did consider the VZ monaro as it was roughly the same price. I know that there are a lot of LS1's out there therefore lots of modifications available etc but I don't see myself doing too much to my car. Just exhaust, edit and minor things will be on my list. So LS2 stock as a rock has a good base rwkw level which is why I chose it. I'm off to the tuners at lunch today to get exhaust system fitted. Hope it sounds horn.
  2. Actually I do have a couple of good mates who are members here and post regularly. Last time I spoke to one of them, I asked him if I could join the skyline cruises and he said I better not come. :ak47: Maybe on the next one. As for the 5.4 sec time I did, I think it could come down closer to manufacturer time of 5.2(manual) if I didn't have a passenger on board and launched hard with traction control off. I tried reving the engine to get a good launch but the result was just the smell of burnt clutch so I chose to be safe and launch normally. 270rwkw doesn't sound like it's stock and my estimate of high 4's is for a stock car. I considered buying the 60-80 dollar gtech pro but it doesn't measure 0-100km/h. It's actually 0-60mph which is not the same. Equates more to 95km/h.
  3. Just put on your flame suit mate. For every 10 decent guys there is one dick. Just law of nature I guess.
  4. Yeah. I love the look of the GT. sexy beast. As long as you have the power to match which you do.
  5. FPV T6. Your car is not a FPV though? Have you got the GT stripes, bulge, and wing?
  6. Talk about being technical! What's the distance if instead the gtr was 4.7 second 0-100? 1 car length?
  7. Welcome T6. Nice ride you have there. What a happy family we have here. holden, ford, and skyline. 300rwkw. Have you got the APS phase 3 kit? I had the F6 on order before i purchased the hsv. I still like the car but I was a bit nervous with all the bad press and clutch problems. Yeah I wouldn't mind going to calder one day for a squirt.
  8. Ferni, Your calculations are not correct. if car A reaches 100km/h and drives for 1 second then he has gained 27meters. While car A drives at 100km/h during that 1 second, car B is struggling at 90km/h during that same time period. So car B has gained 25 meters during that 1 second. So difference is 27-25=2 meters not 27 meters. Am I on drugs or what? Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
  9. No arguments with you there mate. Dont' get me wrong though. I did not mention anything about racing the V6's in my S15. I was merely talking about taking off at the lights without stepping hard on the accellerator. Tap the accellerator in the S15 lightly and do the same to a V6. i.e. revs won't get past 2500rpm. Then you'll see what I'm talking about. With that much boost and mods you should be able to whip the 220kw v8's easily.
  10. I didn't release a stock GTR runs 4 second flat 0-100km/h even with the restrictor off. I thought that it would be more like high 4's. MarchGTR may of beaten the LS2 by that many car lengths to that speed as he said. No offence intended. My question is when someone says they beat a car by a certain number of car lengths it's accuracy can be questionable because it's difficult to determine when the other party has actually hit the brakes. Yeah maybe it was auto Pus. I dont' know much about twin turbo supras.
  11. No idea if it was auto on manual pus. I can't imagine someone buying a twin turbo supra in auto so my guess would be manual.
  12. 4-5 car lengths up to 3rd gear is pretty huge. I would believe that there would only be 1 or 2 car lengths within it. How do you know he didn't brake as the speeds were getting ridiculous and that he admitted defeat after seeing that you were already ahead? To show you what I mean. Here is a clip of a LS2 taking on a modded twin turbo supra. The supra was about 1/2-1 car length ahead at the 150km/h or so before the ls2 stopped. Supra kept going and when he hit the brakes, was about 6 car lengths in front. http://users.tpg.com.au/mcurro/clips/TwinT...praVShsvLS2.WMV
  13. I concede that a stock GTR be it r32,33, or 34 will have me in a drag. The only way I would win is if the other driver didn't know how to drive well or if he bought a lemon which was not tuned well. I'm sure there must be a few out there that aren't what they used to be. As for the GTST's, from what you guys have told me a good match would be one that is modded with more than 185rwkw.
  14. S15 was definitely a small fun car. Turning at the traffic lights i was able to hit full throttle and it would grip the road like a cat on carpet. I don't dare to push my current ride around corners. Last thing I want to do is wrap a 60K car around a poll. It does feel heavy. As for straight line, my current ride will take it on easily. I got tired of always having to rev the S15 hard at the lights for it to go otherwise even a v6 would go past me without trying. That's something that I really didn't like. The fact that there was too much lag when you weren't in the mood to push the pedal hard. The v8 is very torquey so driving it is very easy, very effortless as you just press the pedal softly and it moves. Oh and in the wet I don't need to worry about losing traction as much. The s15 would lose traction too easily so I had to drive like a granny. I just leave the traction control on in the hsv. I only switched cars because of my lifestyle. I need to tow a boat and like to get away with a full load often. Here's a in car footage of my car doing a 0-100km/h sprint. http://users.tpg.com.au/mcurro/clips/5.4_seconds.WMV
  15. Don't you mean 'over' 190rwkw. hehehe Here's the graph.
  16. I have that issue of motor where it tested allt he aussie cars. hsv got 13.65 in that test. Yes we are waiting for the LS2 edit(flash) but it is in the testing process and has not been officially released.
  17. I dynoed my car last month and got 240rwkw. MOTOR got 229rwkw. As for the VT GTS, isn't that only 220kw at the flywheel? It's the VX GTS and later that have the 300kw calloway motor. So is it safe to say that a gtst with >190rwkw will be a good match?
  18. Not much is available in australia for the Ls2 yet. LS1 has been out for awhile so you can get a lot of mods for them and APS have twin turbo kits for the LS1. LS2 edit is still being tested before release and is very anticipated.
  19. Nah mate, it was a complement. I was surprised that a 19 year old, is capable of saving up that much money to buy those 2 cars, and money to mod them.
  20. Quote: "a average modded gtst (230-250rwkw etc..) would be pretty even (around 5s 0-100?)" You sure the average modded gtst has that much power? My friend has modded his with turbo back, power fc, boost and got around 140-150rwkw. If you're correct than most skylines out there will kill me. i get that much power now and the car weighs 150+kg more than skyline.
  21. Damn, you are one rich 19 year old to have own all those cars.
  22. Thanks mate, Nah I haven't taken it to calder to test it yet but manufacturer times are in the mid 13's.
  23. Hi guys, I currently own a 6 litre HSV and I am interested to get some opinions from the majority of skyline gtst and gtr owners. My question is, if you were stuck at a traffic light and a 6 litre HSV was about to drag you, do you think you will win? If so, by how much? If not, what mods do you think you will need in order for the race to be close? Also how much power will the mods give you? For those who don't know much about the 6 litre holden. Here are the specs: * 297kw * 1690kg * 5.1(auto) 5.2(manual) 0-100:manufacturers time. I would expect a few to say the following so I'll type it before they do: 1)Holdens are crap etc etc 2)Holdens are slow etc etc. 3)Why buy a holden etc etc. 4)GTR's rock and will leave anything for dead. 5)Why spend 60K+ on a car when you can buy something 1/3 of the price, mod it and have a rocket. 6)I am not a stereo typical v8 driving bogun. I do eat rice and last ride was a S15. 7)holdens look crap 8)holdens are too heavy This thread is not an attempt to mock either skylines or holdens but to see what mods/power levels a skyline will need to have a close race with a 6litre holden. Also to see if there is in fact any respect from the majority of skyline owners for the holden.
  24. I had no problems with my S15 during the 2 years I had it. The only issue I had with it was the fact that the dash scratches very easily. Yes go onto the www.silviansw.com and ask the S15 owners what they think. I can't agree that going from a 1993 R33 skyline to a S15 Spec R is downgrading. It's not like atticus is comparing between a 2001 R34 GTT and 2001 S15 Spec R. He's current ride is a 93 model R33. Even though The skyline may be higher in the hierarchy, there is a huge build date and market value difference between both the cars. Ask yourself if going from a Honda prelude 1993 model to a 2001 integra is a downgrade. Which is higher in the hierarchy?
