  1. This is my point exactly. I've heard too many stories about ECU's having a coniption due to wrong injector fitment. I just wish there was someone out there who has done this and knows exactly what works and what doesn't. And what to get etc, etc, etc.
  2. OK. Now I'm confused again ! So..... S5 RX7 Turbo injectors are the go ? I know it appears above but, do you know how the Series 5 RX7 Turbo injectors hook up to the fuel rail on an RB20 ? I've been told by AFI that the Mazda ones are "O" Ring fitment, but the RB20 ones are a barbed press on hose deal. If this is true I'll need a different fuel rail.
  3. Actually, I'm producing 201rwkw at the moment using stock injectors ( not maxing out ), GT-R Fuel Pump and a NISMO Fuel Pressure Regulator so.........I would have to think that CA18DET Injectors, being 100cc's ( nearly one third ) more flow might accomodate 230rwkw !?!? So you do need a resistor/s for CA18DET ones ? I thought they were High Impedance/resistance ones like the RB20DET..........( scratches head ). So how is the resisitor/s hooked into the system ?
  4. Sydneykid, Do you know how the Series 5 RX7 Turbo injectors hook up to the fuel rail on an RB20 ? I've been told by AFI that the Mazda ones are "O" Ring fitment, but the RB20 ones are a barbed press on hose deal. If this is true I'll need a different fuel rail.
  5. SlowGTS-t, I've decided that I'll go for whatever plugs straight in without any other mods being required and shoot for something between 450cc and 500cc if I can, as this seems to be the only span that everyone can agree upon ( out of the 16 people I've talked to about this issue ). By this weekend I'll have something to stick in my car one way or another ! Nice score on the bargain basement buy of the CA18 injectors ! I must say, it is very considerate of nissan to allow all these parts to be shared amoungst all the different models
  6. True. I'm starting to see the picture a bit clearer now that I've just finished putting some basics down on paper. If the standards are 270cc but can flow ( in my case they must be ) around 330cc then what would be required for another 20-30rwkw should be about 480cc. So, having around 70cc + in reserve is not so bad. ( Do not quote me on these numbers as they are based upon a perfect guestimate ). I was just told that the Injectors in an SR20 fitted in a GTi-R are 440cc standard so....550cc for a 2ltr can't be that bad !
  7. Thanks Roy, I think I'll check the resistance of my injectors for peace of mind as you suggested. I'm just wonder about the CC's. Do you ( or anyone else that's replied ) think that 550cc's might be too much for my set-up ( Refer Post #21 ) ? I'm only interested in good clean, safe power out of the car. Have no interest in blowing flames out the back etc.
  8. Good God I'm confused now !!! Every time I talk to someone new I get told something different. I'd pull my hair out but I don't have any People are talking about different coloured tops of injectors being different flow rates within certain types of injector categories now. If I could just figure out exactly what to use to try to get around 220 - 230rwkw from my stock RB20DET engine, with chipped ECU, FMIC and a GT2530 running 1.2bar while maintaining a respectable fuel economy, I'd be as happy as a pig in $hit.
  9. I went looking for you guys but the only one I found was FATZ. I was kinda hoping to get a bit of a high speed convoy thing going but I could only find the cars and not the bodz that went with them. Did anyone get times or was everyone too busy driftin ? I posted a 2min 2sec lap with passenger, huge turbo surge and underinflated tyre pressure ( yes my fault ). Also, there was one guy out there in awhite R33 GTS that I was having a great time with but I don't know who he was. Went lookin but could find him. Wanted to play some more : )
  10. Way cool ! Thanks, I'll check it out. The cheaper the better !!
  11. Only the kits I mentioned are on offer at the moment. The specs of the coolers are something you could find out from anyone who sells Trust ( like Advan ) but I do know that they are aluminium tube and fin style with alloy plumbing ( mine is and all the others I've seen from Trust ). Just remember, it's from "Trust" so you have to work on the theory that it's going to be as large as is sensible to fit into the respective cars without major surgery. Send a PM to Gary and he should be able to answer some more of your questions. mailto:[email protected]
  12. For those of you who are considering the purchase of a Front Mount Intercooler this may be of interest to you. A friend of mine is organising a bulk buy of Trust Intercooler Kits for $1,650 AUD each. These kits bolt up perfectly without the need to get the hole saw out. The most minor trimming of the rear of the bumper is all that's required in most cases. I fitted mine myself and it was so easy it was laughable. Kits available for ER34, R33 GTS-T, S13, S14 & S15. Contact Gary: [email protected]
  13. One of the best options I've found ( & am using ) is the High Flow Cat from Tuffy Mufflers in Waterloo. I won't go into why they are so good on the forum but they have no pressure drop and an excelent flow rate and are fitted to your car for $250 ( it was when I had it done ).
  14. I'm using a GCG T3/4 turbo at the moment. By all accounts, on an RB25 with the right management and other bolt ons you should be able to make 250rwkw. You may find that you'll be maxing out a few of the components such as the AFM and the injectors but that's just part of the game when you push the power up I guess. Unfortunately, this turbo on an RB20 is a problem and I've got a surging problem now. But on the RB20, with bolt ons and chip it makes 200rwkw at 1.1bar. I really do think that the housings are a bit on the small side when looking at it from a performance aspect but that's only an opinion. I'm growing more towards a HKS GT25/30 every day but upart from the cost of the turbo itself, I'm concerned about what else has to be done to fit it to an RB20 and how much it'll all cost. I can't get an honest and straight answer anywhere.
  15. Hmmmm...... Yellow on a Black Skyline........ 250kph bumble bee........ Interesting !
  16. Well have you at least got some magic markers I can borrow to draw the logo on my car ??
  17. Dino, I put the form in the mail about 5 mins ago..... So where's my damn sticker ?!?!?
  18. Fanks Dino, I isn real good at workin vese electric box fings an I cant read little words yet. Kinda makes it hard to fix planes. ( Walks away dragging knuckles ). Scott.
  19. If you're stripping the car I'm interested in the front bumper !
  20. How do I join ?? Please email me re what I need to do at: [email protected] Thanks, Scott
  21. Thanks much for that info. Since my last post I've been contacted by GCG who have suggested that I have a Stg.2 turbine wheel in my setup and that I should have a Stg.1 wheel to better suit an RB20DET for that exact reason ( although they won't admit fault or prior knowledge ). Looks like it's coming off again. Although I would love to fit a GT2530, I don't think the extra costs associated would justify the increase in power IF my turbo surging problem gets fixed by GCG. Mant thanks to those who have help out with info relating to my problem. Will post again when I try the turbo for the 3rd time. Scott.
  22. Still running standard BOV at the moment but have a blitz one to put on when I can get some time to get a recirculating pipe made up. Tried running with the blitz externally venting and it still surges.
  23. Joel, yes, only on cool to cold temp days. KamikazeR33, afm has been checked and seems OK although it is maxed out at the top end it doesn't cause any specific problems.
  24. Joel, On a cool / cold day on part throttle going up a hill with boost I get a rapid choofing noise and the boost gauge bounces around then the power dies off. I then have to pull it back a gear a nail it as it seems that I need revs to swallow the air that the compressor is supplying. I also get minor surging when I nail it from about 4500rpm to 6000rpm then it just pegs 1.2bar and climbs to rev cut.
  25. I'm also very interested in this topic as I'm running an RB20DET with a T3/T4 GCG modified R33 turbo and am having surging problems. I'm sick of messing around and am now looking into a HKS GT2530 as I'm told ( by all in Japan ) that it's the perfect turbo match for the RB20DET and the HKS GT2535 for the RB25DET. Unfortunatley I too have heard nothing while in Aus about the pro's and con's. P.S. What's a good price for a GT2530 new?
