cool thanks for that. My uncle is doing it for me he is a mechanic and is able to take the box apart at work. I think for the moment im only gonna replace the bearings and the 2 and 3 synchros. ill post up the progress.

can anyone tell me how easy it is to open the gearbox up once you have taken it out. Do your need a special tool. and are the bearings press bent (If that right) also is ther any other gearboxes that are interchangeable with the R33 box eg, s15 navara. sorry for all the question im taking it out on the weekend and just wanna have the correct inof Cheers p.s spent about two hours searching and reading couldnt find this exact info

Hi guys this noice just started last night. wanted to know if any one might now what it is. it happens when im reversing and when im slowing down under brakes. it is quite noticeable noice. Any ideas of what it might would be great Thanks

hi i got news on the weekend that the bearing in the gearbox are on the way out. I just wanted to knwo how much this will cost to fix i have a R33 gtst. i think i read somewhere it might be about $500 depending which bearings need to be replaced. My uncle is a mechanic and he said he will pull it out for me and fix them so ill be with out a car for about 2 weeks. My question is. Is there any thing else i could fix while i have the gearbox out and prices. I just wanna keep it nice and stockish for the moment. I was think of just putting a heavy duty clutch in from Kudos.

this is my car picked it up in Sept 06 stock as a rock excpt for a cat back jasma not much plans for it at the moment jusy enjoy driving it around

also forgot to add that the steering wheel is longer straight

Hi not sure if this goes into this section. But i need some help.. On sat night i was driving home.. Silly me took the corner to fast and ended up spinning 180 and hitting the curb then ended up in the middle of the road. I started up the car and drove home.. Everything was fine and i drove the car the next day and it was fine. On the way home from exams today i heard this funny noice and it started getting louder and louder.. I got home took the passenger side wheel off (noice was coming from here) and there was nothin that i could see that was bent or looked out off place. When you press down on the front passenger side quater panel the sound is there is sounds like it is coming from inside the engine bay. I was thinking it was a bent axle or a broken engine mount. Could you guys give your opinions on what it could be. Thanks in advanced for your help

Thanks again for all the info. I had another look at it to day and it is clean couldnt see any oil any where and the engine bay looks good. Couldnt take it for a test drive today cause he was the only one in the office. I got the car VACC tested. They said the only thing wrong with it is that it needs the radiator flushed and thats all other wise they gave the car a good rating.. Again guys thanks for the help. Sorry to clog up the forum with more compression posts. Will keep you posted if i bu it or not

just got the report back from the Mechanic. After speaking to the guy at Nismo he said that it depends how the guy did the test. was it cold or warm was the battery good. But this is what it got. 1. 120 2. 120 3. 120 4. 120 5. 120 6. 120 just reading through all the hundred of compression threads it still up in the air. Some say as long as the number is even across all cylinders its ok. thanks again for the help

yeah i know....just spoke to Nismo car centre and they said 120 is way to low i might give this one a miss. Thanks for the help guys

should also add that it is stock as a rock only exhaust.. and it has 106K on the clock

its a 95 rb25det i just spoke to simon at promaz in vic and he said 120 is fine

Mate thanks for that im so confused. I have read that we should not accept anything under 130.. After speaking to the mechanic and then another mechanic. they both told me that because it is a turbo engine they have a low compression..

Hey guys im just about to put a deposit down on a skyline... i just had it tested and everything is good.. the compression test came back 120 for each cylinder.. Any opinions... is 120 ok or not acceptable at all.

hey guys got the car tested today came back with the following results slight oil leak rocker cover left bank not major. Wiper Jets need clearing and aiming Clutch and brake fluid is dirty noice while driving suspect tryes left door has been replaced resprayed apart from that everything else came out tops. the compression test came out as follows 1. 125 2. 125 3. 120 4. 125 5. 125 im not sure what it means but he (Mechanic) said it was good. What do you guys think?

Hey Guys I got a quote on a blackwidow alarm. Spoke to the guy last night (he is FEMFTL) bro and he knows his stuff talked me through the alarm and the way he will mount it and. It has 3 point imobbilliser, dual shock sensor, Can be made to work in with a TT. All entry points covered and central locking as well. He is even gonna install my CD player all up it was about $500.not a bad price considering i got quoted $780 at another place and i would have to drop it off. Where as this guy comes to you. ill post once it has been completed to let you guys know how it goes.

thanks everyone for your advise. im gonna book it in for a test. and wait from there. i might just wait and see what the inspection reveals. if it reveals a lot of things wrong then ill walk away. the only reason i have my mind so set on this car is because it is exactly what i want.
