  1. Welcome to the world of imports. As advised by other members you need to rely more on the condition of the car instead of focusing soley on Km's travelled. I am leaning more towards importing my own as most of the winding back is done once the car hits Australia, this is not to say Japan do not wind back there odo. I am close to importing one myself but have been reading many issues which worry me, for example having to change valve covers every couple of years due to leaking oil into the spark plugs. I had a 1996 R33 GTS-T which worked flawlessly for over 7 years till the day I sold it. Looking for something newer but doesn't seem these cars are very reliable. Hope someone can say otherwise because I think these cars look amazing but don't want to continually spend money on fixing things.
  2. Yeah thats exactly what I was wondering. As silver is meant to be the cheapest colour but manual is rare from what I have seen. Black is the most expensive, what do you think of chances of getting a decent white V35 for under $20k complied and landed not including rego costs and new tyres?
  3. I thought I would bring this thread back to life. I am currently eyeing a 2003 silver manual coupe with 66,000km with original and up to date log books. The asking price is $28,000 is this decent and how much do you think I should try and drop it down by? looking to maybe trade in one our current cars either a 2000 lancer or the wifes 2006 yaris yrx.
  4. How long does it take to change your engine oil then? Must be a long and nervous exercise as you are unsure if you have overfilled or not filled enough? Is this how the garages do it?
  5. $500 for parts only damn hey how much for labour then?? No way I'm going to attempt this myself.
  6. Your going to have to fix it eventually so I say why not do it now. Just sent an email to my local nissan dealer to see how much it would cost to replace valve covers and gaskets. Just trying to see how much I would be out of pocket if I import a V35 and it comes with this issue.
  7. Just find some additional info regarding this for the non mechanical minded. Seems to be easily fixed would be good to see how much this would cost though? http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl023i.htm
  8. Actually got it checked by a inspection company and basically was told the only part of the car that was original was the roof lol!!! The rest was repaired, so the person bought a smashed car and fixed it. Wanted to get a manual 2006 model, main things which frighten me I guess are the oil consumption issue and the oil collection with the spark plugs. I am aware the 2006 model did not get the electric window issue. But if the car is in great nick might go for an 04 or 05 but they are getting a bit old now. Anyways thanks for the response.
  9. Hey guys, had a local example of a V35 which I was going to buy checked out and turned out to have been a very average example. So seems I may have to reconsider importing something from Japan with Log books as the majority of V35's available here do not have them. Just wanted to know if there are any respectable companies out there offering third party extended warranty which I can purchase to cover a V35 import which I bring here in order to protect myself from any unexpected issues. I'm located in Sydney Also when importing your car did you get it checked out by a mechanic when it got here? Cheers look forward to replies.
  10. Any update on your spark plug oil issue? Have you fixed this yet?
  11. Still getting use to COD Modern Warfare 2 online. Its fun but continue to get owned by all the addicts playing online. Anyways if anyone wants to add me for some online carnage add me my id is argie81.
  12. Seems like the main issue is the windows on the JDM specs. Hoping to get a 2005/2006 manual V35 in white (grade 4.5) but they seem to be rare. Still going to keep searching in regards to the two oil issues (consumption and in the spark plugs).
  13. Very nice just what I am after. Any more pics?
  14. Very nice just what I am after. Any more pics?
  15. Thanks Nismo your responses are really appreciated. Out of curiosity what is a "rev up" engine? Have you heard of many cases of the oil pooling around the spark plugs? Especially the spark plug closest to the firewall?
  16. Did you import it yourself or buy it locally here? How many K's?? Seems the older models are the better models in manual as the only issue reported is the window door issues.
  17. Interesting seems the 2003/2004 manual is the way to go. Would still like to hear from other manual owners. The 2006 350z also suffers from oil burning excessively and new engine replacements is common supposedly.
  18. Have a chat with member Chris Rogers he can help. If not just call Nissan they will let you know. Good luck mate
  19. I was under the impression the manual v35's have more power hence have the revup engine. Do we have many manual owners here?? Any issues?
  20. Anyone =( Basically I would like information on which is the best year and transmission V35 to buy. I was going to buy a newer model to avoid the electrical issues but it seems the older models do not suffer the oil issue. Any information you can provide me would be great. The G35 american forum is saying it is the rev up engine supplied in the 2005/2007 models of manual transmission. Would this mean a nice clean 2004 model would be the best compromise? Is buying a manual a bad idea? cheers again
  21. Hey Guys, Sorry if these questions have been answered before but have searched through lots of different threads and there are very conflicting stories regarding these seemingly fantastic cars. Don't want to make an expensive mistake. I am currently searching through japan auction houses for an immaculate condition 2005 or newer V35 coupe in manual. After doing some research on this site have seen that the newer cars that are specifically manual transmission have excessive oil burning consumption which is a big issue and common. As you can see now I am reconsidering my search criteria. Is this true?? Do any members on here who drive manuals suffer such issues? the most stories I read are mainly from second hand information so would like to hear from owners of manual newer model V35's to see if this is true. Any other opinions regarding manual later model V35's would be good also. Anyways thats it thanking you all in advance cheers, never had an issue with my old R33 but from what I can see the RB25 is more solid than the V35 engine. Cheers
  22. How common is this issue with the oil? Considering it's the same engine as the 350z I have never heard of this previously.
  23. To be honest the nav/radio never came into my mind. The car is what I want. So I'm guessing 2006 it is then. Besides the electrical what's with this spark plug oil thing that I have been reading in another thread titled "changed my spark plugs" something about leaking oil around the spark plugs is common in v35's anyone care to share more info.
