Anyone Have A Rb25 Highflow From "sliding Performance"?
humble replied to joe2548's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
from what i read on the GCG website, before it was altered, i noticed that the rebuild used ceramic hi-speed bearings and load ball bearing. i just recently checked it to show a friend and found that the site had been altered/updated.. anyone shed light on theseceramic hi-speed bearings?? are they ball bearings with ceramic coat?? Oh and also ... not all of us would be hitting sand traps or stalling whilst taking a drive down the HWY with and Automatc car.. and from what i have gathered during my short time in the turbo world most do an oil change/minor service every 5000km or there abouts... would there be any other factors that would cause the plain bearing to b unworthy? i woudl like to know as i have a family to carry round and dont want to spend minimum $1750 for a rebuild, which could also need more money spent fixing actuators etc, if i can get a decent turbo that needs a little more care for half the price. in saying this i also dont want a turbo that will $hit itself in a few months as stated above newbie to all of this compared to some of you so need all the info there is from everyone ho has had EXPERIENCE with THE turbos that are being discussed thanks for the great info so far all of you ian -

offers??? -
hi sorry for the late reply.. thanks Al good advise.. so compared to the 2535 and your vg30 upgrade what are the characteristics? i.e boost at ... , HP rating... etc i have also seen the slides turbo for under $1000.. now i know that these have bush bearings although the GCG rebuild had ceramic hi-speed bearings and load ball bearing? now this is not full ball job... wat would be the difference with the rebuild and a new turbo with bush? anyone enlighten me on how to maintain bush bearing turbo's ?? i know that ball is better by far although i will most likely not max a bush turbo so the weakness factor is not there? correct me if im wrong?? thanks Ian

HI Al thanks for the advise... its interesting that you say that any/all high flows are not the best option.. in the stagea section everyone is turning to the GCG highflow/rebuild option.. also i have had a chat to same people this afternoon who advised that the 2535 would run out of puff... apparently they had a r32 with one which didnt produce as much kW output as expected even after tuning etc and advised that a t3/t4 option would be better... would you know what rpm the 2535 would hit boost?? the stock turbo on the stagea (1650kg dry) comes in at 2400-2500 this is a little low for my liking as with a full load (family) on the freeway it hits boost approx 100km.... this is good that i am getting others opinions as all i have heard is GCG this and GCG that.... thoughts?? thanks Ian

Hi all Time to spoil the missus so looking for a turbo upgrade. Must be in very good condition NO shaft play, shot seals, cracked housings etc. low kM A rebuilt one like GCG 450hp+ with steel wheels etc would be sweet as it would mount straight up. Would consider other options too I’m in VIC so this state would be preferred, unless people want to have the turbo's checked and provide me with report I’d like to know: KM it has been run? What car? What max boost run? How the turbo was acquired (new, second hand, had rebuilt)? Please be as genuine as possible. This also has to transport my kids and wife so sorry for being pedantic thanks Ian
