Sounds to me that there are alot of things that could go wrong with a Vyper...Not to mention the countless emails over the past decade for the same type of problems, but don't worry Brant Alarms are still winning in the category for most unreliable car alarm.

Hey. its a viper what else can I say. They are only useful as sinkers when you go fishing! Chuck it out and get e real car security product.

Try to deselect the turbo timer mode, through the programming instructions to see if it goes back to normal
-
sounds like it is going into "turbo timer mode" when you turn the key off. This is normal if you had the turbo timer feature wired and programmed in at the time of installation. If the engine is not still running when you turn the key off then it means the alarm wasn't wired for the turbo timer feature. Try to open your door before turning the engine off and see if it goes straight into the auto arming cycle, this will also confirm that the turbo timer feature is active.

Never seen the problem here and have done quite a few of them. The Autowatch 446 Premium is alot more stable as I have done hundreds of these and into trucks as well and they have never missed a beat.

You don't need to worry mate the Mongoose alarm is not the cause of the tacho problem, it will be a loose connection or something simple I guess. As long as the installer makes good solid soldered connections and even makes sure to solder even the earth terminals after crimpimg and terminates direct to body. Most issues that happen after a car alarm is fitted is usually due to poor connections of other fitted aftermarket components that were there prior to the alarm being fitted. All it takes is for an alarm fitter to unknowingly bump one of these connections while running wires for the alarm and then soon after you see a problem arise. Cheers,

The M80 will only run the engine provided your doors are still closed when turning off the ignition, maybe you had a door open when you tried it. As for the tacho I would give the installer the oportunity to have a look at it.

I have one of these units lying around somewhere as well and it doesn't even let you play any audio or dvd or do anything, it just says the same thing "please insert appropriate disc", WTF? lol

If its a GTR its wiser to fit an insurance approved alarm system, which will give you the keyless entry feature at the same time as saving your car from theft.

Now I'm scared

All car alarms sold in SA have to have Antihijack feature for insurances reasons, the main supplier of vehicles security products in both after market and on the OE level has always been Autowatch owned by parent company PFK Electronics. They have dedicated stand alone Antihijack modules as well as having the feature built in to most of their car alarms.

Were To Find Ground Wire R33 Stock Headunit
danielr34 replied to hks33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Mate, your best off not looking for a wire at all just find a bolt that is screwed into the metal chassis of the car, yes you may have to remove the head unit, would be a good time to check the integrity of the other connections as well. -
Alot of 2 door window lift modules do both windows at the same time, usually 4 door window lift systems will do them all individually.
-
They are coming from the alarm module....do you have a phone?

I won't go into detail on a public forum Matt, just give me a call.

The easiest and least expensive way to find out is to unplug the alarm system and bypass the immobiliser/s, drive the car for a week and see if the problem has gone away. An auto electrician will charge by the hour to find an intermittant problem, besides, if it is the alarm system then it may cause your car to stall as well, while driving, so better to be safe then sorry. Another option would be to just disconnect the indicator's wires from the alarm, there should be 2 inline fuses which can be removed (for most alarms) temporarily, to see if the problem goes away.

Ask the person who installed the alarm to wire it up for you...its not just 1 wire.

No probs

Alarm/immobilser Question - Help Needed
danielr34 replied to LatinR33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
There might be an override pin number for your car alarm and not a hidden switch. You should just copy and paste your last sentence into google and see what you come up with. -
The 446rli alarm system is a good reliable all round alarm system which is Insurance approved, it can be an immobiliser only or an alarm as well. The sensors you get depend on the company supplying the product and what they offer with each package. If you car is turboed then you won't be able to arm the alarm while a turbo timer is running, only the doors will lock/unlock. You would have to wait for the engine to shutdown before arming the alarm. The 446rli Standard does not have anti-hijack but it does have keyguard. The 446rli Premium is more suited if your interested in hijack and you can arm the alarm and lock doors while the engine is still running, you can also stall the engine via remote before the turbo timer times out at any time while walking away from your car. Cheers,

Does the switch on the drivers door armrest still work? If not I would check your central locking fuse. If the fuse is ok then it may be the central locking module, the actual motor in the passenger door or the link between the two (the wiring). Check with a test light to see if the passenger door central locking wires are get a signal.

yes Chris, I said "that I know of" I am in NSW remember.

Clifford make reasonable security systems and usually comply to UK standards or Thatcham Approved, I am not too sure if they have been put through the Australian Standards Testing procedure however, even if they have all the features of an Australian Standards alarm system ie black wiring, 3 point immobiliser etc does not mean they would be covered by insurance. Being that they are not sold here in Australia (that I know of) I would say they have not been tested for AU Standards. In the past I have had to remove a few Clifford alarms from imports in order to fit an AU Spec immobiliser. Sorry can't give you a definate answer, only what I have seen in my experience.

R34 Gtr Imobilizer And Australian Standards
danielr34 replied to Abarai's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Yes you can integrate an alarm or immobiliser system into the existing remotes. I would recommend the Mongoosee Map 80 which you could have as an immobiliser only or an alarm/immobiliser system.
