  1. so the hose is rather long? i would relocate the pressure line to before the cooler. that way the hose will be nice and short. and it also won't suffer spiking due to cold nights. you will find that companies like HKS have the wastegate line coming off the compressor side of the turbo.
  2. come down to the sunny coast and try that trick. i'm sure there of plenty guys down here that will do the same to you.
  3. no gain unless your stock pump is dead.
  4. we have a new winner. the escudo on street tyres. 50.768 seconds. and it could be better. i'd say you could possibly get low 50's, or possibly even a high 49 is you have reflexes of steel. then i drove a '00 gtr with a bit of work done. did a 55 something. it handled like a blue whale in concrete after driving the escudo.
  5. or as jeremy clarkson spells it (not accurate, but something along the lines of-) konegsigegeisigeigeisigegggegisg
  6. just out of curiousity, where is the pressue hose run from? is it run from the bov hose is it? possibly done when fitting a front mount cooler. i had spiking with my $22 controller after i did my cooler install. i had the hose hooked from the bov hose (like it shows in the instructions). this caused spiking on gear changes. i moved the hose to the 'hot' cooler pipe (took the nipple off the old cooler pipe and stuck it on the hot pipe). this solved my problem.
  7. need to make one for the sony or the x-box. then all you'd need is a good drifting game so you could go up to a corner, kick the clutch and start some sliding fun.
  8. does this mean that i can have a try with the suzuki escudo? it doesn't say 'race car' in the name, and its japanese.
  9. would like to go, but have to work till 5, and work/live 2 hours from brissy. we are getting a group together to go down to a saturday one in a few weeks time.
  10. i have a white car not because of the fact that i am a "Status-seeking extrovert", but so if i do something naughty and get qustioned about it i can blame it on 1 of the other 6 white r33's in the area.
  11. could be a faulty cap.
  12. skylines are the first turbo car that i have heard of having stalling issues with atmo bov's. i had one on my 180sx. had the occasional pop on gear changes, but thats it. it wasn't until i got on here that i heard of it. there's a few dozen turbo cars where i live, and all but mine have atmo bovs and none have had any issues that i'm aware of. and all but 1 or 2 run factory ecu's.
  13. i got my old car done by a pro. he used an angle grinder with a buffing attatchment. my father-in-law also used to be a car detailer and thats what he uses. it just just a case of knowing what you are doing.
  14. thats going to be the easiest thing. go for a spin in someone elses car.
  15. other people have done laps in non jap cars. and i class the vertigo in the same class as any car bought from a tuning company (not original manufacturer).
  16. what mods/plans do you have for the motor? what sort of power are you looking at?
  17. i think the bit about crushing it till the outlet pipe is flush with the hat should be removed. i seriously think that is too far as well. sure it would stop the bov from leaking, but it will also limit the amount of air that can escape, so people running higher boost are going to get more lag on gear changes.
  18. well 2 of my mates are using HKS SSQ's and no matter how they drive it doesn't play up. no stalling, no low idle. i have driven both and they act like they have the stock bov.
  19. it really depends on how much of a difference we are talking about. since the car is all stock you would still notice a difference as it would be draining about 10hp (guessing). so on a stock car that is about 7%. do some mods and get your power up and it will still drain the same amount of power, but the % is less. if there is actually a problem it could be the bearings in the compressor, or the compressor could be stuffed.
  20. pics?
  21. how does that work? their cars idle fine, don't really blow any crap, and response is fine. in fact i've had more of symptoms commonly blamed on atmo bovs with my stock plumback.
  22. just out of curiosity, wouldn't it have just been easier to buy a turbo motor to start with?
  23. if you set the bov up correctly you won't have any stalling issues. all my mates with 33's have atmo bovs and none have stalling issues.
  24. not 100% sure, but pretty sure that for a car to be complied it has to be pretty much stock- that means exhaust, cooler, etc. so when you get it imported you may have to buy a heap of stock items to fit to the car, or if you go through an importer they may be able to sort that out for you.
