hi all i though i should post up some info on my skyline as i have looked over every one elces. and this is the 4 door section so i will feal right at home. Storie goes: well i brought my stock auto 89 moddel 32 for a fairly good price localy about 9 months ago. i had looked around for quite a while but i didnt realy have enough cash being an apprentice to get anything real flash. i realy wanted a foor door and i sat on this one for a few months before having a look at it. it had a genuine 80odd thousand and was macco on the interior and engine but had a farly rough body (still does) when i got it it had a gab front strut brace and pod with r33 wheels. i didnt have lots to spend on it and a manual was on the cards but i never got to it. there was a 32 wrecking at a local yard so i pinched the stocko wheels and a nice nismo260 dash out of it. 9 months in and i have recently blown the auto gbox and lost my licence so i have decided to go for a rb25 conversion. as done by many. Achivements: i have run this car at a few club motorkhanas and one drift day to count with the auto box. there was plans to enter in a three day tarmac rally here in tas but as i have no licence i can not enter. Goal: the goal sofar is to compete in the full tassy drift series next year including as many prac days as possible while also getting the car to as manny other motor sport events like drag and track days. so the car will be biult with reliability as a number 1 as i dont want to be fixing it every other weekend. as for the body thoe i think it may have to wait or see a back yard job to make it look a bit better. Mods: -engine. RB20det is out and Rb25 is going in. drift pod, cai, HKS EBC @12psi for the time being and also rb20 actuator on the stock 25 turbo, twin 2.5" exhaust, GTR front mount with aluminium piping, B&M oil cooler with remote filter. -suspension. i have put a fai bit of thought into this as i wanted adjustability mainly. custom made adj castor rods. nismo chunky front strut brace with custom brake cylender stopper. JJR rear strut brace. adj rear camber arms. adj traction rods. drift pineapples. hicas lock bar icluding all lines removed. as for springs and shock i am currently running pedders lowered springs on stock struts but i will be looking at changeing these to bilstines asap. front camber arms and castor bracket gusseting will be the next few mods. -brakes. RDA slotted rotors on the front with bendix ultimate pads (EBC greens next time) PBR 600 race fluid. -body work. sh*t house. i am currently modifying a set of standard r23 2 door skirts to suit. east bear tail light covers -interior. i currently have a HKS turbo timer. greddy 80mm boost gauge and omori exhaust temp gauge. i also have aluminimum side mount rails attached to a sparco fixed back seat which can be swapped with standard seat for dayly driving. i was thinking about getting a full set of VDO gauges (as i can get them cheap) but now i am thinking of getting some jaycar digital temp displays to make it a bit more flashy. -rolling stock. i currently have a set of r33 wheels which are my dayly driving wheels. a set of r32 wheels which carry race tyres and a set of amg style wheels for the back when drifting. i would love a set of nice wheels but i cant justify thousands for looks just yet. wow thats a bit disapointing. i only usualy hear good things from that workshop. i think i would have been a bit anoyed about it as im asuming you had told him it had a hiflow. as far as fuel goes if you use it a as a daily than if it was me would be better off with a premo tune to save a bit of money on fuel. and at the end of the day a tuner doesnt want A) to blow your engine on the dyno B) for you to drive it away and blow it a week later. but good result anyway. could you pm me how much it was as i need to get a tune soon. thanks damien

Where To Get A Good Cheap Halfcut?
DJRIFT replied to DJRIFT's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i thought id just put an end to this thread as i have found one and for a good price. -
hi all. i am in search of a good cheap r33 manual half cut. the main problem is that i live in tassy so any half cut would have to be freighted over. this also accurs a problem with not being able to walk into a shop and have a look at one or even get to know the guy running the place as to get a bit better deal. ive searched and read through other peoples conversion stories and i keep reading where people have brought halfcuts for as low as $3000. i keep getting quoted $4500 which i am still willing to pay but its a bit unfair if its just because im not a local. so basicly id like to know if you have brought a hald cut for a fair place and where would be the best place to get one from. it not that i wont pay what they are asking just id like to know who the most trust worthy people are. thanks damien

id be going for the power FC as its pretty much a plug and play. and they can be had pretty cheap from some of the online sponsors.
-
ive heard you can get brand new ones for around 3g out of japan so it makes paying $1500 for a seccond hand one a bit of a joke realy. i will be getting a half cut more than likely sent from the mainland soon if you want to save on postage a bit?
-
thats a top effort, now you will have to get out on the track and use some of them.

sorry to hore your post but do you have an email address for blake as ive been trying to get ahold of jds but i cant find his email. thanks

hi simon yea sorry i didnt mean to put it down its just the fronts are fat as so i didnt look to hard at the rear. i started asking around on here and someone pointed me in the direction of a 6 month old forsale thread where some had been up for sale. i got them of giffo i think. he had them but then got series 2 four door tail lights which didnt suit the covers. he was going to fit them if they didnt sell but i got them quick smart. i payed a fair coin for them but it think it was worth it. i have been asked since where to get them but i realy dont know. i asked giffo a few times and i think he said there was another forum member that worked for a aus suplyer for east bear but when i have contacted him he said he has not been able to find them in there current stock listing. well i just done a few quick searches but didnt come up with any other places to get them. drop gaffa a pm and ask him. he did say they were $280 out of japan plus fees and charges so they are expensive. if you are keen to get a set i could get a set made off mine if you wanted? seems there is a fair bit of interest in them. oh where did you get your half cut from and did you look around much. and how much if you dont mind me asking. im looking around at the moment but it is gona cost me a bucket load in freight to get a half cut from the mainland. thanks damo

wow this car has taken a massive overhaul. its good to see that you have taken the time to fix it up and look after it. i very almost brought this car when inark had it for sale what must be a bit over a year ago now. i had only just brough my 4door when toffy decided to sell it off again and i was pretty dissapointed i couldnt get it. i to was under the impression that the manual conversion had been done in japan. i gess after reading about the things you have had to do i am kind pleased that i didnt get it as both you and toffy have thrown alot more money at it than i would have been able to. i loved the east bear tail light covers so much that i chased down a set for mine as soon as i got it. i must say thoe its been good to be able to follow your thred and see everything that has gone on with it. i am also about to embark on an rb25 conversion into mine as mine started life as a stock auto and i have since blow the auto box. keep up the good work the car looks tuff. oh and why didnt you flare out the rear guards? damo

hi all i have decided instead of doing a manual conversion i may as well do a full rb25 engine and gearbox conversion so this means i will have a full rb20 motor minus gearbox for sale. the old box was an auto and it is now shagged. the engine can be sold as a long motor or with everything you would need bar a manual gearbox if you want to do a conversion in a VL or R31. parts included: rb20det engine, started life as a stock auto. has seen 14psi through a HKS EBC so no spiking. it has done around 90,000kms. i have changed my dash to a nismo 260 so it now reads less. only mods it has had is a pod and cat back. it has seen regular oil services and has been maintained as far as oil and coolant leaks go. stock cooler injectors coil packs ECU same as manual uncut loom standard turbo *manual flywheel* other parts which may go: SS split dump pipe nismo 260Km/h speedo and cluster i am unsure on what is a fair price but i will start at $1000 for the long motor and $1500 for everything. or nearest offer fell free to contact me to ask further questions. the engine is still in my car so it can be heard running but cant be driven due to gearbox. i am negotioble on price as well. please PM me with replys as i will respond quicker that way. thanks damien.

hi GMB. ill come and give you a hand on the auto elec side of things if you like. i could make the trip down for a day and do it all for you. if theres one thing i love its tidying up wiring on imports. i could give you a run down on some of the cars ive worked on but that would be bragging. let me know anyway (pm)

Whiteline Sway Bar Issues.
DJRIFT replied to FineLine's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i got mine through repco at trade price but i gess you will be looking at around $70. i had rang them in the past and if you just ring them and say i need links for my swaybar they will tell you that they will be $150 because they some how get a price on the rose joint style swaybar links. all you need are the normal ones that come with the kits from new. get them to ring whiteline and ask what length they need to be as that varys from car to car. -
hi all. im on the hunt for some more front wheel camber as i am sick of sledging at motorkhanas. i would like adjustable upper arms but all the reviews i have read say they are crap and i realy dont want to pay $600 for a set or what ever they are. i dont realy want to get a whiteline or nolaphane kit as they only adjust like 1 to 1.5 degress and they are pretty pricy too. and the only thing i have left is a rumor i heard once on here that R34 lower control arms in a R32 give it more track and heaps of camber because they are longer. does anyone know anything at all about this? would they even bolt up in the right spots? i gess im more conserned about the last question but i am open to sajestion form other people about the other two options listed or maybe there is somthing more again that i could do. thanks damo

Nismo Rear Swaybar With Stock Front Swaybar
DJRIFT replied to Kaido_RR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
well the answer to this from suspension specialist is the swaybar has an afect on the opisit end of a car. if you put a front one in you will increase oversteer put a rear one in and you will increase understeer. as a basic rule of thumb. i got an adjustable whiteline item a while back because it was cheap seccond hand but was strongly advised not to put it in (this was for a drift setup) i finaly got around to buying a front adjustable one and i could not belive the difference. it helped stop the nose from diving so much and realy helped stabilised the front end which in my case is just lowered springs on shagged standard shocks. i havent had time yet to do any real testing but it is one of my favirate mods sofar and i cant wait to give it a real test with the tail out. i still have the rear waiting to go in but i think i will wait untill ive had atleast some track time on just the front bar so i notice a bigger difference. good old sydney kid will help you out if you are in doubt thoe. -
hi all. as some of you may know i have an auto 32 which one day i planed to convert and the day has come after blowing my auto box at a motorkhana recently. (see youtube ) that doesnt show box breaking but show what ive been doing to it. anyway im after a manual box. will be about a month before i have the money together as i also need a clutch and other stuf but it will probably take a month to get one lined up. im not overly keen on getting an rb25 box unless its cheapish. im also keen to look at blown or noisy boxes if they are going cheap. so any help would be good if you know someone, with one, that doesnt come online or somthing like that. i know toffy is probably in the same boat and he has already looked but i need to check myself. either pm me or email me at [email protected] thanks damo
