Guys I was wondering what motor oil some of you use in your GTR's and perhaps what you could recommend for a GTR that doesn't see any track work. I normally use the Mobile Super Synthetic, but remembered some of you use the Motul stuff... which of the Motul oils should I use considering I don't do any track work? Oh.. and is there any difference in oild filters? or just the standard RYCO stuff? I can't find the thread, but someone was using some brand other than RYCO and said it seemed much better.

What do you mean "full kit" not just the turbo upgrade? And are you still running stock internals?

meshmesh replied to TRIAL_GTR's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)

Can't you get an exemption from vic roads?? I had a mate ooooh "going back 12years ago now" who got a Brand New Ferrari Mondial for his 18th & he got an exemption from vic roads.

No dates yet..! > looks at Merli !! Must be a Melbourne Sydney thing, and Merli's gone the whole hog, as soon as his car & him are ready then a date should be set. But Merli, you said the Apexi AX5360s have een covered?? Who's got these ? The only person I know who had these was Dean (vspecv) but haven't sen a dyno. I know of a brand new set for sale ~$5K, apparantley these are meant to be better than all the above. I was looking at the Apexi's before the GT2530's, heard there were GTR's in the 10's running these turbos. But not many people new anything about them, so I stuck with the tried and tested GT2530's.

This may sound a bit silly, but will these magnets cause stress, extra resistance on the internals? PS: Just Slap me (not too hard please) if that is a dumb Q :slap:

i'm thinking out loud here, if the emails where sent via the companies domain could the company be held responsible?? If not, then spamming the XXXXXXXXX telephone lines may force the dad to put some pressure on the Jordan... or at least it would drive them crazy.
-
This argument is always debated, however as far as I know.. the limit of the stock ceramic turbos is around 14-15psi... you can safely achieve this by removing the restrictor. Other have run much more, but the argument is not IF but when will your ceramic turbos give in, and risk further damage to the motor by debrit.

Uuuumh, that's not a R34 GTR in the Chips ad, it can't be because R34GTR's have wider front & rear guards, the one in the ad is too THIN !! < get it !! > THIN < ... oh my, mesh mesh.. your jokes are getting worse by the day!

Yeh I asked him aswell, but also added he put an apple on his head.. Unlike you INASNT he ended up doing for it me :jk: See below - does Jordan have anything to do with the Nigerian Email Scam??
-
Thanks merli, You're going through an engine rebuild now aren't you? How's it going? And what are you doing :sadam: < "c'mon merli, tell the truth and don't be all modest about your mods either" > PS: did I also hear you mention NOS?

Funny that!, we were also thinking about the next step for the GTR, as the 320kw at the rears is starting to bore me. My tuner said you can pick up brand new N1 motors from japan for around 10K.. but then there are varying models. Do you buy a new N1 motor or spend the dosh on an engine rebuild?? I know what Blitz is saying "how long is a piece of string?" but if you were looking to hold a reliable ~700hp at the motor (~450-500kw at the wheels) on an RB26 would need to go the whole hog with cranks, blocks, etc ?? And does anyone have an "estimate" if this were the case?
-
Warpspeed, Thanks for that, but can I ask what size magnet you're using for each application?
-
have you tried ordeing direct from http://www.hks.com.au (AUS) or http://www.hksusa.com (USA)? Because I pretty sure, the HKS soleniod are sspecific to the serial located on the Unit.

Do Power Fc Knock sensors work ?
meshmesh replied to jezzrrr's topic in General Automotive Discussion
OK! Dunno how much I can help, because I don't have the data logic, but the HC shows what you want under the "Monitor" setting. Apexi say in their manual, the Engine Light will flash when the PowerFC hits a Knock Level of 60.. however "Apexi" also say that this is not necessarly knock, because I do know they can pick up other sounds. Generally after my most recent tune I see knock figures between 30-40 under full load. -
Do Power Fc Knock sensors work ?
meshmesh replied to jezzrrr's topic in General Automotive Discussion
 Jeremy, is this a trick question?? I have the PFC & HC in my GTR, and yes the knock sensors work. But why do you ask, are you having some problems? -
Why couldn't you just stick a strong magnet to the oil filter, rather then paying for one of these? After thinking about the idea/purpose... I wonder whether the magnet could effect oil distribution, oil flow or attarct other things in the oil?.. That's ofcourse if oil contains anything magentic

Yeh I know, my mistake, but as I was looking for some info on fuel catalyst I also stumbled on this along with a number of sites, that also sold fuel catalyst along with these magnetic oil filter thingy's. Here's a sample of another magnetic thing - http://www.fuelcat.co.uk/turbo-mag/products.html I found that original site I posted above, a very interesting read, he goes onto to explain a number of so called "miracle wonders" product for cars..

Funny that, I was looking at something similar... but then I stumbled onto this site... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/cains1/Fuel_saving.htm

I don't think a "%percentage" value is fair & accurate eg: Today I make 210kw at the wheels and loose 30% from my engine to the wheels =90kw drivetrain loss. But if my drivetrain remains the same and I make 300kw at the wheels.. then why would my drivetrain loss be more?? SydneyKid had some facts when they engine dyno'd a car & then put the car on the dyno, and If I recall correctly there was about 70-80kw drivetrain loss from engine to wheels for a GTR, this figure differed for a GTsT.

I thought Magna's were Front Wheel Drive? Unless this is the EVO version ??

Just had car sprayed.. Am I being Too Picky?
meshmesh replied to Cubes's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Merli & NRB, Copyright practices generally use Postage Stamp dates as evidence in court. This is the only legal method I know of, that can confirm a specific date. That said, Joel could take digital or standard photos and slip them into 2 envleopes, send them to himself & store them for evidence if the repairer disputes his claims.. If the matter goes to court, then you prsent the "unopened" evelopes in court. -
how was it last night? Wanted to go, but couldn't.. So what was your bes time Bass?

Is this the Next GTR... "Oh no not again!!!"
meshmesh replied to meshmesh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
OK, one guys reckons it a photchop.. here's his comments & reasoning.. I tend to agree. Ron B. - 6/17/2004 8:22:17 PM Title: Definitely Photoshopped Comment: Definitely PHOTOSHOPPED. Look at the interior of both of these cars through the windshield as well as the A-pillar detail. What sold me was the little horizontal line that is reflecting light in the rear seat area of both cars.
