I've got to get a 9 out of my car now. Its pretty much track ready after spending half of sunday finishing off a few things. Just needs a wheel alignment. A tune would be nice but i'll just keep the boost down and monitor knock on saturday if i can't get one in time. Looks like i've got my idle sorted too! It was carrying on like a mofo, stuttering like it had a massive vac leak, and then hunting. In my search for leaks under the plenum i lent on the throttle body mechanism and the idle went smooth immediately. let the pressure off and it hunted again. Out with a philips head, rotated the tps, problem solved. I was quite happy about that.

Sway Bars For Motokhana/autocross
BHDave replied to evil_weevil's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You doing the tampered day then? If you set the front to medium and leave the rear at hard it will improve the understeer. I'd be inclined to go soft front/medium rear until you get a diff to try and work around the open wheeling issue. -
It wouldn't hurt to check your loom where it runs through the inner guard. It's not likely that it's damaged, but as the guard came out it may have done something.

Hi guys, What exactly causes it? My skyline has done 5 wakefield days now with no brake issues. it runs r34Gtt calipers pmu HCR pro rotors and HC+ (0-850)pads plus briaded everything, rbf 600 fluid and master cylinder stopper. The silvia i ran yesterday has aftermarket 32GTR rotors, non slotted but curved vane so i assume a quality product (possibly pmu based on the colour of the hat), 32GTR calipers pmu type NR pads (0-650) plus all the same other stuff as the skyline. In the end it had to be retired as the shudder was getting unbearable. Is it the rotors? the lack of slots? the pads? I don't want to be machining rotors after every event or i'll have nothing left.

you haven't done the big ends i hope?

because i was staying behind you guys until she pitted i couldn't see too well. i thought that a ring had let go as we were taking about bad compression on cyl 1 earlier in the day. It wasn't until i was on the brakes i realized i was fuxored. I just got off them, straightened up the car and prayed i had enough speed to get through the kitty litter to avoid the indignity of a tow. The funny thing was that the throttle as stuck open when i tried to re join and i initially though that maybe it was open when i was trying to brake. On the topic of mr2's, there were 2 of them, both the same colour and both of them covered in dust from offs at the fish hook. In one session i was told that he came in and one of the instructors jumped in and even he spun it Got a text from liz at midnight that she was just passing campbelltown!

I still dont. I can do it if i have no shoes on, but as soon as i have any sort of heel i just can't twist my ankle enough. Might have to invest in some racing shoes and look like a wang And you shouldn't need second at wakefield....In my car i'm all 3-4, same in the silvia. Your smaller turbo should offset my lower gearing somewhat.

I actually dropped to group 4 after the first session as there were 3 mobile road blocks in that group that were stuffing it up for everyone else. black integra, old bmw and a wrx. They each had enough go up the straight to make it a mission to get past. I actually did the right thing, i cruised the main straight and let them get ahead, nailed it at the start/finish and i had caught up by the top of the hill ffs. Group 4 was great, slower cars, but generally more experienced/courteous guys (not heroes) who didn't mind waving you past. I got about 1 lap in 3 without traffic so was happy enough. Don't be afraid to ask to change groups. I would have snapped if i was in 3 all day.

i got to watch you (well hubby) try and get the thing in a garage in the morning. I know how low it is You had a guard blow off chris? wtf? When liz realizes thats it's a 1 dollar part that let go she's going to be pissed....

I really enjoyed today. the nugget s13 held up well considering it was doing double duty but we retired it after the brake shudder got to be more than we could handle and maintain lap times. I was really disappointed with the turn 1-2 combo. I had no confidence on the brakes in there all day, grip was just woeful. I was actually braking later in the wet when i was last down there (admittedly the stock ecu speed cut liked to kick in at the apex of the kink this time so i figure i was carrying a little more speed). The ripples are back at turn 10. didn't take long. and theres a new bump on the exit

yep. I disconnected mine aswell, as when you want to demist the windows it defaults to AC and tries to turn it on so your idle goes wacky.

I use about 1.5 tanks total on a full dry day. I'll top up at campbelltown, drive down and run til about 1pm, when it's on empty, then drive to the mobil and chuck 30L in it and finish out the day. I can usually just make it back to campbelltown, but sometimes chuck $20 in it at one of the servos on the freeway just in case. There's 98 available, the mobil has it, theres a caltex in town with it, all the servos on the way down have it.

It's the idle step up for when the AC is switched on or the power steering pressure switch is active (when turning the wheels full lock at idle)

In my rush to get the thing installed i didn't think to take photos of the finished dump. I ground out to the extents of the 2 inch pipe where possible and then shaped the flange to match the back of the housing so it's kind of a D shaped bell mouth. As the car ran out of rego and is just silly loud now (thanks to the more open gt30 turbine over the old t3) i had to baby it down to the mechanic for a pink slip without really pushing it. It did make .5 bar by 2500 just on the actuator which is promising, i tried a couple of the old presets on the ebc and got about 1 bar out of it on the way home, though i think i need more gain. It was very linear. Oh, and hektik flutterz even with stock air box thanks to no bov.... At this stage it's looking good. hopefully tune next week.....

check the booking page. bold is confirmed. There are usually enough garages for everyone, get there early if you are worried and grab one, or get someone who is staying the night to get one for you.

drop the exhaust before the cat. see if it makes a difference. If not you have eliminated that possibility. Check the intake pipe while it's on the dyno, make sure it isn't sucking closed. Look for leaks in your piping. The fact that it's leaning out discounts boost leaks though as that would make it rich.

The issue is actually with the adapter, more so than the over tightening. You can see it only has about 2 turns on there which is no where near enough when you tighten it up as all the strain is on the last 4-5mm of the thread, rather than over 15-20mm. You can see how much thread is left, more than enough to still get an oil filter on there from what you've said. They should have picked that it wasn't right and not done it in the first place. I know of guys on other forums who immediately picked up this issue when installing other china oil products, and they aren't professionals. Do not reinstall that sandwich plate, it's rubbish.

lol, yeah, leprosy's a bitch!

np, as long as you can save a couple in the second row for me and tmb if you get there first.
-
well shit. I just used a heap of these this time round.....manifold to head and turbo to dump. We shall see.
-
You can give number 1 more boost and help it on it's way Whats up with it anyway? low comp or noisey big end? I expect a wave if you pass me!

It's an hour and half from campbelltown with no stops once you get on the freeway, so i'd suggest if you're leaving liverpool around 6:00 you should be ok if you have a fuel stop at the BP on the way in. Factor in another half hour for tyre changing and the like on arrival if you are a chance of being in group 1....

Nice result. Out of interest, was it the inlet or exhaust that had the biggest effect on the curve? And what did adjusting the exhaust side do to the overall shape (seeing as i only have an adjustable exhaust wheel and retain vct)?
