Henry Surtees Dies In Freak Formula 2 Accident
Neil replied to RBwhatever's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
It's very very sad that such a young guy has lost his life. What a freak accident,,,well I hope it is. I've really never thought about a major part flying into my open cockpit. I'm sort of glad he died and not ended a para or a quad or something worse. Lowndes incident at bathust brings up an interesting point. Shoudn't sedan racers be made to use a visor and have it closed. Shards of glass in the eyes at that speed would cut your eyes to bits. Neil. -
Anybody Know If N When An Sau Show N Shine Will Be Held
Neil replied to Travis32's topic in New South Wales
I was gob-smacked today. Why we have never looked at the Showgrounds at Fairfield I'll never know. This site has everything we want. What about parking for 200-300 hundred cars all under cover. Parking for trailers/spectators/tradies ect is massive. There's in excess of 400 hundred parking spots outside the actual show area. Don't pencil this in,,,use a permanent marker. Neil. -
I'm with Gary,,,put it anywhere thats higher than the pit wall by about 10cm's. Inside/outside it doesn't really matter,,just make sure both units can see each other as one passes the other. Waterproofing is also a problem,,,I take glad-wrap everywhere. Neil.
-
So you are alive and kicking Brad,,,good to see. Hope it all went well. Neil.
-
Top stuff Stuart,,,,congrats mate. Neil.

Thank you John for pointing out a basic fundamental. PAS systems are not designed to be over extended past a prescibed length. The factory always leaves a little in reserve. When you go past that point (and you will sooner or later) it makes the PAS work really hard to come back and like most GTR's the system is already working it's arse off. All you are doing is heating the system more which as we all know is not good and it does happen. Just as a little experiment,,,try doing a full lock turn,,,I'll bet you have to pull the wheel straight. Neil.

What Is Your Favorite Aus Race Track And Why
Neil replied to DJRIFT's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Showing our ages Gary. I raced bikes at Amaroo and always loved that track. Honda corner and the stop /go corner were fantastic. Brings back memorys. Neil. -
Anybody Know If N When An Sau Show N Shine Will Be Held
Neil replied to Travis32's topic in New South Wales
Travis your a man after my own heart. As the newly elected pres of NSW I'll do almost anything to make it happen. The wheels are turning as I type. Dates proberly late Oct early Nov. Neil. -
Funny I never had a problem with apex seals. Granted the newer motors are very much more reliable but apart from drags,,,rotors are not really on the map. Improved prods is the only excecption,,,. What I will say though is that I had a great time in my Sporty,,,I loved that car,,,PP's are so cool. I loved the aggresive noise and it still is the fastest car I have ever driven. I think I was clocked at E/C at 245 kays. I'd still put an SR20 turbo in his car though. Neil.
-
Actually i think it's great idea. FD's are a bloody fat car. If we take on a little comparision here and lets use national sports sedans as an example,,,there are 3 really quick ones in this country. 1/ Ricciodello's Alfa,,,old as but with 6L chev 2/ Hossacks Audi new with 6L chev 3/ Now Queensland based FD running an SR20 turbo,,,now this car is quick and I mean quick. Young Macfadden drove this car twice,,,once in practice at O/P on old rubber and was 1.something seconds off the lap record and in his only race at wakie beat the alfa in race two but suffered with setup stuff all weekend. While rotors make tons of power they are as bad as an RB26 in the reliablity stakes. Sometimes worse. The problem with any rotor is if something goes wrong internally,,,the rotors are like a lathes,,,they will cut through everything. My old 13BPP engines ate rotors,,,all the plates, and the ecentric shaft. 2 motor we used killed everything bar the flywheel and the front balancer. I would not hessitate one little bit,,,SR20 all the way. Oh rotors are made to use oil,,,there are like a 2 stroke,,,they use oil to lube the chambers. Neil.
-
So Harry are you saying a rear wing is not a good idea?. I agree O/P is not the fastest track but you still need down-force and rear end stability through turn 1, and a couple of other short straights that have your foot mashed. Neil.
-
Stuart,,,I'll echo what some of the boys have said,,,I would add a real rear spoiler,,,dual plane adjustable nothing less,,,no gay drift rubbish but a real one. Gary will know where to find one and him corner weighting the car will help heaps,,,you might find you have to transfer or add weight the rear. What about lowering the fuel tank,,,A9X style. Turn 2 could be just be you carrying to much speed,,,you won't be the first or the last to mow the grass there. Ando and I were laughing our heads off,,,we both could see what was about to happen,,,Sorry tiger but it was funny. Interestly Ando had time to watch,,,pull another cog,,,laugh and toot the horn. I'll keep you to that drive mate by the way. Neil.
-
Thanks tiger that would be nice,,,ya don't want a ripply roof. Neil.
-
So what are your plans with this car Brad,,,are you going the play Nats or NSW stuff. Nats are a big call...but so is the state stuff. Can you please brace the bottom so the whole thing doesn't buckle and bend. Neil.
-
So Stuart have we converted you to going around corners now. Or are you still interested in straight lines?. I think I said it way to many times,,,but your car sounds so fat coming down the straight. I loved it mate. Neil.
-
Did any of you see a particulary crazy person in a very pretty black conv doing equally crazy shit in the arvo. I did,,,I was in the passenger seat and loved all of it. Slight tail out through turn 1 at full song had me laughing my head off. You are with out a doubt one of the best drivers SAU has mate. On his behalf I would also like to appoligize to the skyline drivers that we harrased lap after lap,,,I was trying to control him,,,but it doesn't always work. Neil.
-
HEY you two,,,stop picking on the product that puts food on my table and keeps me racing!!!. Merli I know where theres some wheels you could buy if ya ever what to thrash it again. Neil.
-
Well wasn't that a shit hot day,,,I may have not driven but the smiles on all you lots faces put a smile on mine. Abo,,,well done mate!!! as per usual. To all you new guys,,,you all did yourselves proud. Nice driving girls and boys. A pic of JP's car throwing flames would be cool. Neil.
-
Oh Harsh,,so very Harsh,,,It won't explode,,it's basically a stocker. Thinking I might bring my Pov1 and throw it in Andrews car so he can relive some footage. Neil.
-
My wish list is:- Aussie spec Gazelle coupe R33 GTS-T,,,no you lot I am not cutting up the wifey's car!!!. S13/S14 OR Really left field a Morris Marina coupe with RB30 power,,,when I was a kid my dad took me to Warrick Farm and one of these was running a V8 chev,,,I fell in love with it. I have a pic somewhere taken with my instermatic poloriod camera. Shit I'm an old bastard. Oh while waiting for the train home I'll never forget my 1st view of this spunk in a mini-skirt,,,my dad said I shouldn't look but he was and so was every other bloody male,,,great day indeed. Neil.
-
Yea I'm out of the S13 as well,,,he's sending me pics,,,but just the seat cut outs turn me off,,,Oh well I'll keep looking,,,no way am I building from scratch. I don't have your access to plasma cutters and the like at the moment young Brad,,,but it will happen. I'm after another Sporty but after the Capri it has to be a Nissan with Nissan power. At least now the Sports Sedan guy's have a half desent web site to interact. Neil.
-
I think you will find that the dealer principal rang Nissan Aust to make sure it was okay and a certain dept started asking questions. Oh an import hey,,,,NO Oh in an Import magazine,,,NO Oh it's got what under the bonnet,,,definately NO WAY. Whilst the dealer network are lets say "mostly happy" supplying parts for private imports,,,the manufacturers are not. Neil.

Fatz you have these mad obessions with wet tracks and mens rear ends. You one very sick puppy tiger. Neil.
