  1. Thanks my man,,, I actually was looking at it last night. I'm looking at replacing the Radicals spoiler and just want to see how he mounts it to the uprights. Cheers Neil.
  2. Topstage Rear Spoiler Wondering if anybody in Sydney has bought a rear spoiler off Freddy and would let me come and have a look at it. Some of you time attack guys have bought off him so your help would be much appreciated. If not does anybody have some detailed pics of his handy work. Cheers Neil.
  3. Some more pics of this awesome place. And it just goes down and down. The locals call the lowest corner at the bottom "OH SHIT CORNER" and I understand why. In my vids check out the skid marks. I was told a local wrote off an R34 GTR there some time ago and then smashed his FD RX7 on the Friday practice of the event. Now that would suck balls. Sorry Pete no pics. I felt sorry for the poor bastard. Time to start actually climbing. The back straight,,, Yah I get to use 3rd gear. The braking zone was interesting, from the pit area we all comment that we are braking to early, I got to the 2nd red stripe and was locking the inside front, no way could I pull Cheryl up any later. The 2 back corners,,,very technical. The control tower, my god it rivals anything I have ever seen. 4 NSW Cars in our pit bays,,, and all on the podium. The other 3 bastards won their classes and broke class records, I had to settle for 1st looser.
  4. Here ya go Dale,,,this one was my faster run of the weekend. I was getting very frustrated at my lack of quality times and shit traction, being in the bottom 3rd was not where we should be, So I sat down in a quiet place and starting looking at all my vids and car setup. The Hankook supplier told me I should be aiming for 34 hot, of which I was achieving. So I decided to try something different and lowered the rears to 28 cold. Instant improvement, I went from high 61s to mid 59s and as you can see I lost tons on the last corner. This is the tyre warming area as you can see and the start line is where the 2 blokes are standing. This one on the way down, the world as we know it drops rapidly.
  5. Hey Nod's, We'll be entering again next year for sure, We both absolutely loved it. Would be great to catch up buddy, haven't seen you in years. Funny enough Melinda was asking me about Noosa on the way home from the Australian Hillclimb champs. The problem is getting the holidays from work. Next year the masters are on in Tasmania and I'm very keen on doing that as well.
  6. So here we are at the 2016 Australian Hillclimb Championships at Haunted Hills. I have to say I have never ever been to such a high quality facility in my life. This place is incredible. I'll post up some pics tomorrow. We did lots of testing today (Thursday), on my old tyres and I think I have a handle on this very technical track. I'm running nitrogen in both sets of tyres now and quite frankly I see no advantage over normal everyday air, The temps creep up as usual and I'm continuely having to bleed air out to stay at 34 degrees hot. Cheryl is being her normal self, which is great, 1 less thing I have to worry about. Here's a vid of Cheryl and I on a practice run... Vids just don't do credit for the height changes unfortunately.
  7. Please Gents, no talk of dirty evo's in my build thread. Only a retarded fool would give up a Skyline and buy a such a ugly toilet of a car. Such a male should have all their genitals removed with a blunt knife so there's no chance of re-attachment. Cheers Neil.
  8. It's been a while since I've up-dated this thread, since Tamworth we ventured up to Raymond terrace where Alan handed me my arse by a full second, but with Canberra being the next round and a quick open run I thought I would buy some new tyres. We had booked Leyburn Sprints up in QLD in between so I ordered a set of Hankook 255's instead of the 235's and they seemed to work better. I thought it would be a good idea to do some testing before the Canberra round so I booked a day at Marulan. Things were going great on a track that I knew, the wider tyres were working a treat, but Cheryl decided to start arguing. Turns out the Bosch 040 pump has been picking up a load of black shit from the bottom of the tank and was blocking the pick-up. Replaced it because I was worried it may have been damaged from starvation, chucked her on the dyno and all was good again. Seems I now have 255 kilowatts not 235, dyno's are so full of bullshit. We turn up to Canberra and she's fouled the plugs big time, Duncan and I changed them and she was purring like a kitten again. Had a great fight with Alan all day and happy to say I got the trophy. So with 1 round to go at Huntley I can't be beaten for the Championship. I'm thinking I'll revert back to the smaller tyres and save the bigger tyres for the weekend after which is the Australian Hillclimb championships in Victoria. Work never stops though, I decided to lighten the front reo so with my trusty hole punch kit I saved almost a kilo, At Marulan I was out with a dirty Evo that was more than happy to cut corners and throws rocks at me. Look at the treatment my poor chinese oil cooler copped. So I decided to dump it and change to a serec cooler I've had been meaning to run for ages Cheers Neil.
  9. How boring are you blokes, who gives a shit about some fat flogs 4 ring circus suv with wow 240 kays and his shitty old trailer. I wants pics of Drunkens import.
  10. Hey Harry, the bmw guy was bloody quick and he gets his class win again next year because in 2017 I'll be taking the Radical. The only chicane was in front of the school which confused me greatly on my 1st run. Your right though all basically 90 degree corners, but a top of 3rd gear straight which was fun. Dale, yes it was very social,,,I sat and spoke to heaps of other drivers which I would not normally do. lots even sat down at my pit bay for a great chin wag. Mark Ledgerwood in the Baja buggy was very entertaining,,, looked like a 60's pot head but was a very nice guy. Here's a link to the pics that the Trapnell's took, Melinda is buying the cd so we have a record of my shenanigans. http://trapnellcreations.zenfolio.com/p980431589 Cheers Neil.
  11. Absolutely had a ball this weekend. Everybody was extremely friendly to both Mel and I. Nothing we asked was too much trouble, This would have to be the best run event I have ever participated in, I can't recommend it more highly. Harry 15 years ago is a long time to judge an event,,, Cheryl was welcomed with open arms,,, everybody loved her, while it's primarily a vintage event there were tons of later model cars. We will certainly be going again in 2017. I ended up coming 3rd in class, which by my standards is only a pass mark, but I did get beaten by 2 very quick cars, so I can live with it. Nice wooden trophy,,, they usually are rock but they didn't have enough. 2 very cool Rotaries. Loud beautiful buggers. They had a vintage caravan display... Here's just one. Cheers Neil
  12. Looks like I'm gonna have a mad time. They are very organized up here, which was a pleasant surprise. I ran into quite a few guys that I knew, lots of old acquaintances from years of hillclimbing and funny enough some old supersprint guys. My god I even made some new friends,,, see I'm not always the grumpy old bastard. I did 4 laps in the Patrol, just to work out which way to go, so I don't embarrass myself, can't work out lines yet as they put chicanes in tomorrow. My god it was a long haul up here, don't anybody ever tell me NSW roads are shit,,, QLD roads are worse, Didn't matter though, the Patrol did it easy as usual. Till tomorrow Cheers Neil.
  13. Shall try to do all the above buddy. All packed and out of here at sparrow fart in the morning. Cheers Neil.
  14. 2 more sleeps before we are off on our QLD adventure. I have no garage at the moment so on Sunday we packed Cheryl up and headed for an industrial estate. Serviced the trailer and gave the old girl a good look over. Hopefully she runs properly. I did buy another set of tyres, gone wider this time from Hankook 235's to 255's and managed to bed them in while we were there. Funny enough we made friends with the security guard and he didn't care less about me doing a few laps to bed the tyres in. We even gave her a wash while we were at it. It will be great to catch up with some of my old QLD hillclimbing mates. I'm very excited. Cheers Neil.
  15. Got my acceptance today,,,Yea. Few little issues that I'm sure will be ironed out, 1/ No one can pronounce or spell my cool French surname. 2/ Apparently I'm a Qlder. f**kthat I'm a bloody cockroach. 3/ Just a little typo error, seems I race a Skyline E33 GTS-T 4/ They have put me in with a pile of 4wd's, I have suggested I should be in 2A or 2B or even Modern sports over 2000cc, Will be interesting to see where I end up. Not that I really care, but I have no chance against cheater cars and it would be nice to give me at least a fighting chance. My god there are a ton of cars entered,,, 213 by my count is a shit load, hope these guys are organized. Still should be a load of fun. Cheers Neil.
  16. Kiss it ya bitch, but the fact remains, I'm out there doing it and your sitting behind a keyboard. Cheers Neil.
  17. Great day of racing today, I didn't win my class, but I had a ball. Allan in the Sprite beat me by 6 tenths, so good luck to him. http://racing.natsoft.com.au/637374993/object_361324.87Q/View?1 22nd outright is a pretty cool result in my book. Things to attack in the future shall be wider rear rims and harder springs. Pleasing to note that the GTR rear spoiler and correct tyre pressures help immensely, now maybe I might go back to a big front splitter again. Cheers Neil.
  18. Thanks mate, I'm gonna need it. It's a pity your build thread pics don't work anymore, I would have liked to show one of the guys son's your car this weekend. Cheers Neil.
  19. I have another BMW one if you so desire.
  20. We should invite Fatz as well, then I can say I pulled a cruiser and a 4 ring circus out of the mud. The hema maps are strange, 2 locations today, 1st one took us through private property with lots of goats, cows, sheep and dogs all cruising where ever they liked and the 2nd one stopped us at a locked gate after a billion river crossings. Think I'll have to invest in a snorkel next, Mel is getting out of control with all this 4wding shit. Great to report though the patrol did her usual thing and cruised up here with out any problems. Now It's Cheryl's turn to do her stuff. Cheers Neil.
  21. This coming weekend see's us off to Tamworth for round 5 for the NSW Champs. Alan (turboed Austin Healy) and I are fighting hard for the class win and he beat me at the last one and beat last year at Tamworth as well, so I have to pull my finger out. Will be interesting to see how the car goes now with proper tyre pressures. I am now running a GTR rear spoiler, so adjustability should help on one of the flatest climbs on our calendar. We have unfortunately spent way too much money on non race car stuff recently, more on the tow car. Melinda was sick of buying ice all the time,so we bought an Engel 12/240 40 litre fridge and we now have a new navman with Hema 4wd tracks loaded. I'm getting worried about the wifey. Cheers Neil
  22. Thanks boy's for the input. Dale it sounds like a great bit of fun and so far everybody we have talked to have been super friendly. Charles I have no idea, only what I've seen on you tube. Track walk will be in order. Duncan's right, Skylines can enter heaps of different classes. I run 2A at every hillclimb including National events. Harry I don't care where they put me, I'm entering for the fun of it and for once I don't care where I place. Mind you there shall be no holding back though. Cheers gents \ Neil.
  23. Our 4.5L Patrol Petrol is the bomb. We travel hundreds of kays all over NSW racing,,,leave early,,, do some 4wding and she still brings us home. Water temp fluctuates between 90 - 105, Oil temp never goes over 85 up massive hills with this behind her. No idea why you would use anything else. Cheers Neil.
  24. I'm struggling to work out why any Nissan heads would feel sorry for Toyota. Nissan absolutely dominated as an Engine supplier,,, suck on that Toyota,,,. Still to this day the Rotor company is the only Jap Company to win outright. I'm not into Karma but it bit them sweetly on the arse when their arrogant shithead last driver flashed the Audi car an hour and a half out. He wasn't warning them he was coming, he was saying "sucked in we are going to win and you are shit" Even the bias pommy comentators said as much. Cheers Neil.
  25. I'm just about to enter the Leyburn Sprints, I've always dribbled over Duncan and Kel racing around a country town main streets and popped this type of event on my to do list. Have any of you blokes done this sprint?. http://www.leyburnmotorsprints.com.au/ Cheers Neil.
