  1. Hey Mick, congrats on your team winning the Nulon Nats, sounds like you did a lot of late nighters to get you there. Well done to you for making the comittment mate. Such a fat looking car,,,it almost makes me think that maybe I might start looking at a R34 GTR as my next race car. The clubby was great fun at KEP and yes it's a pity that was the last time there. I went faster every run but it's was a tall order having never run the car before and just getting used to it with only 4 runs. While I'm used to straight cut sequential boxes,,,it was way different to the Radical. The clubby was not mine so I was nice to it and did no flat changes. Brett told me to show it no mercy,,,but i just couldn't do it!!!. I am booked for another drive of the clubby at a circuit soon, but no way at next years hillclimbs. I'm big time into refurbishing the Radical at the moment and will run it all year in 2016. I might even build a bigger horsepower motor,,,. Are you going to run next year,,,word has it we a losing Marulan which is a pity and obviously KEP, so down to 8 rounds. Cheers Neil.
  2. Justin, he's a lazy bum. It's nothing special at all, I can't remember what flywheel is in use at the moment, but it's just a lightened puppy. The clutch is also just your regular garden variety single plate heavy duty exedy stuff. Production class rules only allow for the same amount of plates as factory installed, so a single plate one is it, he does eat them on a regular basis though. Mind you,,, his big RPM launches sort of dictate that any clutch is in for a load of punishment. I can remember at wakie one time the clutch plate welded itself to the flywheel and fuucked his weekend. Cheers Neil.
  3. I sure did mate,,,ha ha 10th outright and 1st in class. Poor Mick in the GTR only got 1 run in before the dreaded gtr curse curtailed his fun. The 2nd question is always a bit debatable, if someone offered me what I thought to be a reasonable amount of cash I would consider it. That said, we have owned her for 14 years, so really she owes us nothing and I'd be happy to just keep her. I'm doing King Edward Park this weekend in the clubman which should be interesting, the two other cars in my class are a front engined clubby with big hayabusa power and a very nice home made open sports car much like the Radical which also has hayabusa power. I have been told by Brett the owner to show it no mechanical sympathy. Cheers Neil.
  4. Absolutely it's a timing error Harry, but after Tamworth where I got ripped off I'm taking it. Alan didn't protest it so we are even,,,a more realistic time would be in the high 27's or low 28's. But hey if you listen to fatz,,,the timing is always right. Cheers Neil.
  5. If you have a look at the end of that Canberra vid you will see one big fat black tyre mark at the end of the esses,,, well thats mine. At the round before I had two offs and it turns out that 1 of them had broken the left hand front calipers dog bones bolts lock wire,,,a rock maybe???. God only knows how the bolt has come loose as well but it did. On the practice lap at Canberra the bolt has departed the caliper and deposited itseft in the esses just a little way back. Caliper hits wheel,,,instant lock up. Got it fixed and somehow got through the day. Get home and I have one very rooted front slick,,,bitch is down to the wires, I should have taken a pic but basically I ended up with a 80mm x 40mm massive flat spot. Bye bye 2 slicks. I put 2 of my old Kuhmo V700's on the front and headed to the 2nd last round of the hillclimb champs with much trepidation this last Sunday. Hillclimbing is a funny animal sometimes,,, you think you have done a shit run and it turns out the opposite. My 1st run was not my usual take it easy and just post a time, I decided to really really have a go. I actually tried much harder on my 2nd run and thought it was quicker in some place and okay in others, seems I was wrong,,,totally wrong. They were the only 2 runs I got for the day as my rear slicks were now down to the canvas as well. wscc r9.xls So thats basically the end of Cheryl's hard core racing career for the foreseeable future. Time to get the Radical back out me thinks. Cheers Neil.
  6. GTS-T or GTR ?. Cheers Neil.
  7. Today we lost a great driver in Justin Wilson. I personally don't watch F1 with much interest but I do watch Indy Car with a passion and today we lost one of the best. I feel so much pain and sorrow for his family and friends at the moment. Justin was much loved by all and sundry in the racing fraternity and this grumpy old man teared up big time. If you need a read of it all,,, here's a link http://www.speedcafe.com/2015/08/25/justin-wilson-succumbs-to-injuries/ Neil.
  8. We popped down to a club hillclimb in Canberra on Sunday for some testing as I still have traction problems and this climb is longer so I could get some heat into the rear tyres. I have adjusted the rear sway bar to max soft and also tryed with it dis-connected. A few people have asked me what I think of running the soft avon slicks,,,you be the judge,,,keeping in mind I have 235 kilowatts at the wheels at max boost. We durometered the clubman in my class at tamworth who's (he is by far quicker) also on avon slicks and his were 35 and mine were 65 so whilst mine are harder the weight difference in the cars seems to even that out. Cheers Neil.
  9. Thanks tiger,,,pat yourself on the back mate,,,Cheryl wouldn't be the girl she is without your help. Now win lotto and buy me a pool room and I'll fill it. While I'm dishing out the thanks,,,Big boy Pete and Matty need to be thanked for their help in all sorts of ways. Matty for teaching me the proper way of "lets say" cleaning the tyres and the Big fella for lots of advice and a shit load of parts over time. Very much appreciated guys. Cheryl will soon be relegated to much simpler life,,, I need a Radical fix. Cheers Neil.
  10. Here's some pics of Tamworth, Cheers Neil.
  11. Got any pics of said bloke,,,is he a hunk???.
  12. Here's some pics of Grafton, Cheers Neil.
  13. Yep sure have big boy,,,a couple of guys said the only reason I won is because I turned up to every round and thats a fair call,,, but thats racing,,,don't turn up and don't win. I'll be going to the presentation as a winning and the rest of them can make all the excuses they like. So that makes it 3 out of 3 race cars that I have owned and driven that have won state championships. At one of the next two rounds I'm changing cars,,,this is what I'll be driving should be a lot of fun. Cheers Neil.
  14. Well Ringwood is done and dusted. To say I drove like a useless idiot is an understatement. Saturday's practice should have told me to just go home and not bother with Sunday. All 5 runs on Saturday were appauling, sideways over the the finish line on one run up the embankment and almost hitting the armco was no fun. Sunday was no better and while I was mostly quicker every run Alan ended up beating me by about 2 seconds, I should have been faster than him but I fuucked up every bloody run. Twice I ran off and absolutely rooted my front splitter. Stupidly just trying to hard I think. So I'm off this coming weekend to practice down in Canberra and maybe work out what the hell went so wrong. Cheers Neil.
  15. Whilst that is true on the internet my big furry friend it doesn't take into account the 5 second penalty for hitting a witches hat,,,someone was just a little to quick posting the results. I don't give a flying fuuckk anyway,,,it's all about the fun. This weekend takes us to Ringwood and I only need one official run to win my class for the year. So if anybodies near by on Sunday,,,come say hello,,,. Cheers Neil.
  16. Ben, try posting in the NSW section, I don't think many of the non SAU time attack race cars would be in the SnS. Nice looking car by the way. Cheers Neil.
  17. Couldn't agree more,,,that man is nothing but trouble.
  18. Yea my vote is stick with the white wheels. If you want to attract any form of sponsorship,,, a good looking car goes a long way. Cheers Neil.
  19. Funny enough,,, after packing and getting to Tamworth in pissing down rain, snow and freezing cold we were greeted by sunshine on Saturday and more of the same on Sunday. It was still freezing at -2 in the mornings and a top of 12 in the middle of the day. The Patrol is such a great tow car she handled it all without any problems at all. She revelled in the snowy slushy shit without a problem and we had people following us down the hill through it all. Cheryl did her usual best,,,apart from taking 3 good cranks to get her started. Poor other bastards with flattened batteries everywhere,,,I helped only who I liked. I did loan a fuel pump to a commodore owner so I'm not all bad and the bastard ended up beating me. The slicks just don't work in such cold conditions but it's the same for everyone I quess. I did 3 runs on the Saturday on the Kuhmo's just for the fun of it,,,drifting is easy,,,I was linking corners almost everywhere including the straight. Might have to look at some drift events next year. Well done to Paul in his PRB for handing me my arse again. Oh and if you look at natsoft,,,don't beleive it. I have no idea who posts those results but they are wrong. Alan did not beat me. Cheers Neil.
  20. Poor bombadoor owner,,,book yaself in at OPSM. HA HA that rhymes,,,I'm a funny prickk.
  21. . Yea Mick,,,Cheryl is ready,,,started packing all my shit on the weekend. You better start going quicker tiger,,,I'm almost always only 2 seconds behind you. Yes I did pick up your trophy,,,thanked everybody for you included all the gents that helped get your poor striken car back to the bottom and also that you had spat the dummy and gone home. FUUkk I'm a funny bastard. Cheers Neil.
  22. Wow that vid started making me sick. I gleaned some points out of all that mallarky. 1/ Pete should buy a rear wheel drive 2/ One should never ever loan him your keys 3/ He was much more fun back then and thank the f**kking world we don't ever have to suffer those cameras anymore.
  23. The frightening thing is you might use said hammer. Message to the world,,,don't let Matty near a race car with a hammer he might just use it to fix a fuel problem.
  24. True True but that was easy work,,,not like I was on my back in the freezing cold changing a clutch or something.
  25. OH MR NEGATIVE,,,I don't beleive I've ever done an "all nighter",,, but better I do one than let you anywhere near spanners. Cheers Neil.
