  1. did the bent rod sound go away when the engine heated up?
  2. its the right hand side if you looking into the engine bay from the front of the car, so I guess the exhaust side. I dont think it changes from side to side... Why do you ask? I am a little woried about the Zaust value getting stuck closed even when cold as I am getting fuel in my oil atm which is probably due to the excesive missing that I am getting (tune issue) but a lock value could be the cause??? Why did nissan use Hydrolic lifters on an over head cam engine, the rb26's have solid ones right?
  3. thanks mate, Are you talking hydrolic lifters? Well I guess I will leave the lifters as is, by the sounds of it its only one of the front ones doing it and it goes away when the engine heats up. If it starts to hang around even when the engine is cold then I will looking into getting cams and new lifters then. How much are new lifters?
  4. Sorry again for the dead thread thing but, Do you have to take the cams out to remove the lifters? And how much does a new set of hydrolic lifters set you back? I was thinking about getting some tomie cams and if you need to take the cams out to change the lifters then it might be a good excuse for the new cams
  5. OK thanks mate, I have never taken the rocker covers of the rb25 before so dont really know what to expect. So does the cam run the lifters which open the valves? How does the system come together???
  6. Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but I have this problem and everyone seems to think its lifters. What does everyone mean by pumping up the lifters? I know they are hydrolic but I dont know there relationship with the values and cams??? I have changed my oil and filter twise in the last month but the sound is still there when the engine is cold then disapears when it heats up?

  8. Been giving it a good run over the last couple of days and it seems that it is flat spotting at the top of 2nd gear, but not all the time??? Is there a way to tune the accelleration enrichment on the road without a lamda sensor?
  9. UPDATE: I got the car on the dyno the other day and the AF ratios were all over the place. Thing was though they were not consistantly all over the place. We could not get it to follow a consistant path on the map tracer??? After a lot of dicking around we decided to check the the Air Meter Voltage and guess what? The volts were all over the place, which lead me to beleive that the AFM was shot. It turn out that the plug was loose and once we snaged a zip tie around it she was puring like a kitten without any flat spotting Now I just have to wait and see if any more fuel turns up in the catch can, if it does then those injectors are going to have to come and and get tested. :{

  12. yea I think 5's are too hot for turbo cars. You are probably getting a lot of pre ignition which is basically like advancing your timing... thus pinging and flat spotting
  13. Making 255-260rwkw at 18 psi without cams. get to 18psi between 3000 and 3500 rpm... VG30 Zaust housing ar anyone?
  14. I have a GT30 with a VG30 housing on the back of it. Not too lagy and great top end. What is the ar on the VG30 housings?

SK, Some questions on one and two? 1)How can I test the acceleration enrichment and partial throttle openings? 2)Where are the acceleration enrichment settings and Cold and hot start settings in the PFC HC. Sorry to bug everyone, but I can just see me leaving the dyno place with the AF ratios looking fine and me having no real progress on this issue...
  16. Got the car booked in on the dyno on friday, is there anything other than the good old fuel ratio's to lookout for that could be causing it to run rich at certain points when on the road? Anything else to lookout for that could be causing the flat spotting. I have new plugs, new coils so far...

  18. I have the same sound when the engine is ideling and cold. Its not as loud as that though and goes away when the engine heats up... I have always figured that it was a big end baring on its way out, but its been doing it for a year now with no "engine go bang action"...
  19. update: I changed the spark plugs on the weekend and guess what. The olf ones were black as night... Heaps of carbon on them. The problems is that it is still flat spotting at .8mm spark plug gap. I will get the car on the dyno this weekend if I can and see if it running rich. Besides the AF ratio's what else should I be looking for on the dyno??? temp corrections etc???? Ps, ECU is a PFC Pro
  20. I am keen if they are a direct bolt onto a r33 RB25DET... Does anyone know if the ebay one needs the adapter for the trottle body?
  21. But effective, word on the street is that anyone who runs a stinger EMS on the nissan engine needs to do the same...
