  1. bought a replacement ecu from a mate's half cut, opened the kick panel to find a mines tuned ecu sitting there.. just asking what i should expect? i've heard stories, just wanting to get some first hand info? i will be putting it on the dyno as soon as possible just to be safe... Cheers Matt.....
  2. the rb20det fits (using 8-10mm spacers) with only the BOV touching that heat retardent stuff under the bonnet, so if you can find a height comparison that might help....
  3. the one i'm talking of was for sale for close to 20grand?
  4. it's all good, car's not daily driven and will be going to a rb25 turbo in the next few months anyway! didn't want to do harm to the engine just yet. thanks guys
  5. got the replacement ECU, last question before i plug it in, if it dosent work could i damage the ECU in anyway?
  6. wasn't saying it was a sleeper just that you have to look twice to see the cooler and its not a small one.
  7. there was a bloke with a blue over silver 4door running the rb30det or et a while ago, he had a web site about the build up then it was sold! i car'nt remember the address though..
  8. it gives a 10.5:1 comp, hence the safc to play with the a/f ratio i'd say ?? all i know is thats his set up and it works?? cheers
  9. Stupid question #1, mental blank time, extractors do they come form the head or the block? its just i'm doing the figures for putting the rb25de head on my rb30e and i'm stumped on extractors will mine still work or are new ones needed? Matt.....
  10. i'm thinking of the N/A rb25 head going onto my r31 rb30e, keeping it N/A, i was talking to a bloke on the r31 forum, who said that if you use the pistons from the rb25de in the rb30 block then that will be good for the 10:1 comp, also if you use a SAFC that will be able to change the fuel "mapping" for the extra fuel required!
  11. FIND THE INTERCOOLER: hint its 700mmx300mm
  12. you should look at the local paper for early r31 TI's you colud pick one up for $500 or less unresitered, use everything from it, engine, ECU, loom, gearbox, brakes, struts, brake booster, master cylinder, all the things you'll need will be there.....using all that stuff from the r31 will be a lot easier on compliance too..
  13. $1800, for a supercharger (caskets everything) kit bolt on to the rb30e rated at around 130RWKW, no lag, no tell tail intercooler, talk about sleeper....
  14. thats nice, but as i said you put 4 mates in the same gemi and see how well it goes.... my skyline weighs in around 1150KG with the rb20det in it you put it next to a r32 with the same mods and mine will be in front!
  15. for starters weight does play a large part in any forward motion regardless, if you have two cars with the same rough power output but 200Kg weight difference whos going to be faster, everyone knows the difference between just them in there car and when your mates are there too, the only true way to see which is better is in a controled enviroment. EVL032 bad luck mate!! nothing wrong with both motors, each to there own, also there are a few fj24det's out there.
  16. as the title says my rb20 standard turbo has started to make a whining noise? any ideas as to what has happened to make it do this? cheers Matt.....
  17. i guess your using good fluid and pads though? ducting cool air is another thing i'll be looking at later on.
  18. are you talking about the calipar mounting? i think there the same its the rotors and caliparsthat are different. have you throught of going to the r32 booster and master cylinder as they were fitted to my hr30 when the engine went in and i've never had a peddel feel the way this does now, i do have brand new slotted DBA's and bendix comp x pads and they pull the HR up very quickly. looking forward to the gtst brakes though....
  19. the car in my avatar is for sale! its an unfinished project, just needs compliance and rego... everything is finished i just don't have the time and money to finish... Work sofar done: installed and wired late 92' rb20det (48000kms) r32 gearbox new clutch just installed r32 radiator, brake booster and master cylinder installled re wired electrical system DR30 "ironmask" front Hybrid fmic and custom piping adj konis orange suspension all round (fronts brand new) king springs lowered brand new DBA slotted rotors on the front bendix comp x pads front/rear (100kms) new whiteline sway bars front/rear tower brace front interia: it in not bad condition front pas seat has cig burn but can be replaced........ref below i've fitted a autometer pro comp silver 5" tacho and shift light pro lite boost and oil pressure gauges as well monza wheel, shifter and 2 monza rallie seats (seats need to be fitted) i also have a apexi SAFC and PiVot super baby turbo timer to be installed as well. $9000 is asking price..... (for $1200 more i'll through in reco'd s-13 coilovers, hubs and r32 gts-t rotors and calipars) all will bolt on with a little machining for a brake upgrade from hell... PM me for other pics anytime or with questions if needed..... Cheers matt.
  20. thanks guys thats all i needed to know.
  21. i was going to buy a hr31 till i saw the hr30 2door, to me it was just a "wtf is that" moment, i've only driven it twice since i start the conversion to rb20det and the amout of looks you get are great, also for a performance based car the DR30 has a maximum weight of 1250kg wet or with the HR30 1150kg.....
  22. damm and i have no money at the moment its always the way... TUFSSS, if your mate can get late model DR ones in that condition at about the same cost them i'd say there would be a few of us here alone that would jump at the chance!
  23. i keep being told the lower control arms on the r30 are too long and i will need to have new shorter ones fabricated??have you guys physicilly done the conversion?
  24. those of you who have dont this can i ask what was done to the lower control arm as the standard one is too long??
  25. the late model dr taillights are similar to the S3 r31 ausi taillights ( dr30 ones don't have the smaller section for the indocators and reverce lights at the bottom) next to imposible to find here, the earlier ones the stove tops ones are not quite as hard to find and i wouldn't pay more than $200 for a set unless they were brand new, hint hint....thats what the stove tops look like at night? sort of the like the passage lights pictured about...
