  1. Are there simple or complex carbs in protein shakes? Can you tell by the amount of carbs that are sugars?
  2. 'Every scenario' is a bit dramatic. A simple 'generally' or 'in most circumstances' or 'there are exceptions' or something else very simple and easy would suffice. I don't mind expanding on your posts to confirm this if you would prefer not to do the above, but please don't get smart when I do, just trying to understand. Anyway this is completely off topic, continue.
  3. Know of any? I need one within 15 minutes of me and I live in Shoreham. You probably don't know where that is, hence why this is the /only/ gym in my radius. I know you weren't attacking anyone of course, but you certainly didn't voice the fact that some people could have ligitimate reasons that they didn't even know about. That's all I'm saying.
  4. Ease up! Some people don't have it easy. I understand what you mean but I couldn't even tell for 6 years that I had chronic fatigue syndrome because I was just functional and it was all I knew. So people can go out and try and fail constantly like I did with no fault of their own. Everyone told me I was being lazy or feeling sorry for myself and I looked like a perfectly healthy person so I actually believed them. Taking this a bit personally but you can't assume anything. lol Jeebus O_O That's just wrong. Makes me want to open my own gym and teach correctly but f**k that... mechanical engineering is more my thing :S
  5. So I'm not the most educated person in fitness by a long shot, therefore please pardon any ignorance that comes up in the following, but I had an experience today and felt the need to share. And you've probably all heard it before For the first time I attended a session at a gym. There's a new one in Dromana that I'm thinking of getting a membership to for the summer until school starts again. It was a HIIT session that I've listed the details of in my build thread. I was pretty baffled by the whole session itself, especially the trainer. It was a full female class with 5 of us and it made me understand how women would go to the gym for a while, try out sessions because they can't afford a PT and don't have the confidence to start on their own, then drop it because of lack of results. Firstly the trainer didn't even ask us our names. So you can pretty much rule out any chance of her coaching us individually. She didn't explain technique for the exercises, most of the girls were only half squatting, push ups were massive pointy bums and so many obvious things that could have been remedied with a couple of words. My HR was above 190, my face was red and I was literally dripping sweat and panting lol, it was disgusting and great and sickening all at the same time. A couple of these women got a slight sheen on their faces. It was so disappointing to see how there were so many women trying to give fitness a shot. None of them were heavily overweight, some were old, some were young. But they would come and do the exercises half arsed, not get results on an $18/wk membership then quit. Not all of them have friends who are knowledgeable and willing to help them out. Fortunately I do which is why I was still able to use this session and benefit from it. Anyway that's my gripe on this. I know it's nothing new, commercial gym trainers aren't always the best source. It just shocked me that so many simple basics were being completely ignored. It would be awesome if there were more chicks lifting and doing awesome stuff but with this kind of entry into fitness no wonder they don't bother or go for anorexia/bulimia instead @_@
  6. Tried out a HIIT session at a local gym today. Workout 28/11 Warm up - 10 minute spin sprints then hill climb Sit ups - 10 lots of 10 second intervals. Was averaging about 9 sit ups each time Squats - 10 lots of 10 second intervals. Averaging 7 Push ups (with grips) - 5 lots of 10 second intervals. First three was full push ups averaging 7, last two was half push ups averaging 6 Rotating 60 seconds, big step ups, squats, knee raises (or jumps, running on the spot, whatever it's called), small step ups, lunges. Took a break after this as they repeated this exercise again in 30 second lots but my HR was up to 190 and I start getting sick above 180. Treadmill walk 6.5kmph, increase inclince 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15% each minute. Even that was getting my HR up to the high 170's. Wall squat 1 minute Plank 1 minute Stretches.
  7. Yesterdays Workout 25/11 Kept it minimal as had had a big previous night Push Ups (with grips) 10 x 3 Squats 10 x 1 @ 20kg (bar only) 10 x 2 @ 25kg Hack Squats 10 x 3 @ 40 kg Leg Raises 15 x 3 Boxing 15 minutes Afterwards ate some cornflakes, seemed to improve sleep quality although only got to sleep again late so could have just been exhaustion.
  8. That sounds awesome dude, nothing better than random compliments to reinforce your hard work the most I've gotten relating to actual muscle and not just body shape/weight/looks is 'nice calves' lol. Soooon
  9. Thursday's workout 22/11 Shoulder press front raises side raises front raises/shoulder press lat pulldowns cable rows pull ups 80lbs seated dips tricep pushbacks 3kg sit ups with 4kg medicine ball. 20 x 2 then as many as possible 30 mins boxing - bag Have been getting insomnia again. Did some research and I think it might be due to glycogen depletion as I try to limit carb intake afterwards and just have protein and the symptoms sound like me. My protein shakes either consist of 20gm of both protein and carbs or 25gm protein and 7gm carbs (the latter i have been taking more often for the lower carb factor) Might add a bowl of cereal to the initial protein shake, I've seen cornflakes mentioned numerous times due to the hi GI. Even though I don't want to gain more weight I don't think it should make too much of a difference. Plus having insomnia will just push back my next gym sesh and that /will/ put on weight. For my weight Bodybuilding.com recommends 50gm simple carbs and 17-25gm protein 30-60 minutes post workout. Not sure if it's the same for women as it is for men but I figure I'll start with this amount, see how it goes. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mohr114.htm Other than that everything is going swimmingly takes about 3 days for muscles to recover so hopefully should be able to start gyming it 3-4 times a week if I can fix the above. Lots of fun
  10. Ermageeeerd. Muscles are killing me! Purchased some boxing gloves, gym gloves and a new set of running gear for hot weather running... Which I have to keep in shape if I want to pull it off haha, good motivation! Will get a bag soon for boxing in the garage.
  11. Oh, and to add to that I had blood tests done a week ago, Vit E, D and Iron are all still good, co enzyme Q10 I'm waiting on but testosterone still shows as <0.4, when it needs to be in the 4.5-10 range for women and for an 'athlete' you would want the high end. So basically my muscles hurt like crazy 24/7 which ends up giving me times where I take too many days off because I just become worn out. Have tried all the natural remedies like foods and excise but they haven't made a difference so will discuss with my doc about a cream or injection or something. Hopefully I don't grow a beard >.>
  12. I have an update went to the gym last night, finally after too long! Have been regularly running, horse riding, then swimming and cycling about once a week. Weight has reduced down to ~60.5kg at the moment which is feeling goooood. This gym sesh was mainly for trying out general excises, getting the feel for the weights... Most of the time underestimating myself. Hence why there are more exercises than I will usually do and the sets and weights are a bit out. Should be more uniform and consistent next time. Workout 18/11/12 Push ups (no grips) 5 x 6 Dumbbell press 10 x 2 @ 5kg 15 x 1 @ 6kg 10 x 1 @ 7kg 10 x 1 @ 10kg Lat pull downs 10 x 5 @ 50lbs Dips 10 x 3 @ 80lbs Leg press 10 x 1 @ 40 10 x 2 @ 60 10 x 1 @ 80 Leg extension 10 x 1 @ 90 10 x 1 @ 100 10 x 1 @ 120 Then 120 half reps as much as possible (got to about 10) Hamstring curl 10 x 1 @ 70 10 x 1 @ 50 10 x 1 @ 40 Sit ups 20 x 3
  13. Yep, had heaps of people pull me up on having P's on my Gixxer 750. Honestly think it would be wise for them to increase restrictions until you're off your P's and keep the one year rule for people over 21. If car drivers have to cop it then motorcyclists should too. Plus all the <21 year old riders I know that aren't racing definitely can't use the power of those bikes correctly.
  14. I have a Giant TCR Alliance. Guys bike, $1800, Full carbon, works perfectly. Love it
  15. Yeah agree with birds. Continually making new goals will just eventuate to stretching out to the impossible and making you self obsessed = roids. Worst case scenario of course!
  16. Oh and super jelly on the snow. Boarding? I'm hoping to reach some of the alps in Austria later this year to do boarding although I'm still classified armature. So keen!
  17. Looking absolutely awesome Troy congrats! Inspiring once again! And from a girls aesthetical point of view I would say thats pretty much the perfect amount of muscle. Any more and it's over kill, although certain chicks dig this, so if you want those certain chicks then go for it like nick say chicks are liking the 'skinny' look although you are far from thin and mainly it's liking guys who look more natural rather than looking as if they have vainly shaped their body to the max. Which is kind of what we're all doing but there's a certain grace to it! Have an awesome trip and yes I agree, if you /don't/ get laid then men in gyms around the world will weep
  18. It all depends on how you react to the drug personally. I haven't found any differences between drinking now and drinking before hand and my doctor hasn't recommended against it.
  19. If we are an SAU member can we bring bikes on the track? :3 I know the answer to this -_- would probably make me pay for a membership again though if we could. Bike VS Car ftw.
  20. Yay my local... will ride the bike down the whole 200m from Chapel Street and do some off road riding
  21. Hey gais, long time. Thought I would post a quick update. I'M FIXED!!! (I think). Problem was: Combination of CFS and natural imbalance of Serotonin. As most of you will know serotonin is released when you exercise which is why people get addicted to working out. For me my serotonin high is naturally huge then quickly drops to an extended massive low which explains why I was reacting so bad to exercise. So now I have managed to acclimatise to my Zoloft and seem to have sorted out the side effects so far. Have started boxing which is freakin awesome. Was sparring with Birds the other day as a laugh and it was a lot of fun and promotes a great workout. Haven't cried in about 2 months haha, which is pretty damn awesome considering I was crying nearly every day since I had started exercising, from stupid stuff. Weight has stabilised at 61/62Kgs which I'm happy with until I start a full exercise routine again. Food cravings seem to be in check but will reevaluate when I'm working out more again. Just waiting for my glands to reduce and I feel perfect before I hit it again. Can't wait! Oh.. also have been able to go out and party and drink and sleep four hours instead of 24 (seriously, this happened) which is amazing, it's pretty great living a more normal life, so horray! So yeah, I'll post again in another 4 months when I'm beefcake
  22. Got my bebeh back on the road finally, here she is with her white lady friend.
  23. ^ was funny 10+ years ago... In America :S
  24. Damn... That gives a whole new angle to stealing your boyfriends clothes
  25. Wow, intense debate today! All about attitude imo, you can have two girls who have both been with the same amount of guys and one wll be a broad minded person, one won't. Not actually down to the number but the personality and where they are now, not what they were doing years ago If I was a guy I wouldn't be impressed with a chick who likes pics taken of her kissing another girl that then get posted up in places like these. If a chick is bicurious that's cool, but out in public is clearly for attention, there are plenty of opportunities to do that in private.
