  1. I talked to Russ last week and told him I'd tow his car up on my way back from superlap if it was going to be easier to just fly in from Darwin. I just want to get as many people to make the effort as we can to ensure the future of this event. This event was the reason I built my car.
  2. Good to hear you're still keen Ben. The early bird discount for the fees end this friday so get your entries in for a couple of hundred off. I filled mine out today. Still hoping to see some more solid entries roll in. We are running a prolog on the V8 supercar track which will be fun. Also Picked up a sponser for the event from a local earth moving company today so thankyou to Urban Earthworks.
  3. Haha. Sounds fair. Be right though. No trees or guide posts at EC.
  4. I'll be there Ben, if you want to enter you car. Should I pack my helmet just in case Berry becomes a daddy? Haha
  5. Some of ya may have seen this before but just trying to keep the intrest up for this. So here is some incar video from last year. 4 months to go.
  6. Cheers Mate. I always wanted a midnight purple r33 back when I was a youngin. I bought a cusco front sway bar a few days ago. Seems better but I had to lower the mounting position on the crossmember to clear the oil pump as the bigger diameter sway bar was fouling on it. Not sure if this will affect the performance of the sway bar but it had to happen and still feels better than standard? Anyone any experience with sway bar phisics???
  7. Had a bit of a go on the dyno to tune the new fuel system. Still got some more tuning to go yet but this was a bit of a tidy up cause it was extremely rich. 347kw at 19 psi so far.
  8. I reckon that for what it is, that's pretty reasoble pricing. If my car went around corners better and if my house wasn't taking all my money at the moment I'd definatly be entering and be happy to pay the entry. Instead I'm just going to watch. But hopefully if this year's goes well there'll be a next year for me. Might have to meet up with some of the other SAU pissheads on the hill this year but.
  9. That's great news mate. It'd be good to see some more southern tallent up here again. I'll have my new place sorted by then with plenty of space if any of your guys need a place to stay. My big shed and hoist should be a goer to for any dramas aswell. It's my 30th bday that weekend to so we'll be keen for shanigans on sunday night.
  10. You should try convincing him Ben cause you know you wanna come back up here. You and Pete Trez can be the GTS-t crew. Leg 1 at the V8 supercar track should be fun. I rode around it on my pushy today. It's wide and will be really fast.
  11. That's perfect fellas. Thanks heaps for that. I'll post on here when I'm gonna come down to see who to look out for.
  12. I'm pretty keen to come down there for a play at both Lakeside and Qr this year cause I haven't drivin on either. Went to power cruise at Qr once but it was lame. I need to find a week where i can have a run at both within a couple of days of each other so I can make the most of the 3600km round trip. Any sugestions......? Marlin, you've heard how loud my car is....do you reckon it'd be ok at lakeside with the noise restrictions?
  13. Thanks for the new desktop background Russ. This new Ross metal jacket race spec ballancer I got for my 32 seems to be working really well. Ross, as in the owner guy, assured me he'd fixed the power steering belt problem with this new race spec jobby so much so that he took back my original i bought off them and upgraded it free of charge. It was a few hundred dollars worth of upgrade. He told me he bought an ATI one, found out what they did to fix it and then copied it. Pretty much just an underdrive pully. Just watching it on the dyno, mine dosen't shake the belt around nearly as much as a stocker. Ross is a top bloke actually. Really took the time to listen and explained a few things. Back on topic but. Russ last time I talked to Mark i think he was saying the Atezza problems may have been a result of changing the roll center so dramtically. Have you elliminated that as a cause or is it still a possibility.
  14. Here's one that a lad here took of us at a rally sprint.
  15. We did 10 runs all up. Reccy on saturday morning then 3 runs in the arvo. Then 7 runs on sunday. The course is about 7.5km long then transport back down the the service park. Next year they are trying to sercure the use of the parkland section of the v8 supercar track to run a prolog on on the friday evening aswell which will be a bit exciting for us and better for the spectators. That'd be excellent Ben. I have plenty of room at my new place for as many cars as ya wanna bring. All fixed now except still needs a new front bar but i'm making do with the zip tie look at the moment. It needed an new custom radiator from PWR, new intercooler, windscreen headlight, radiator support assembelly and a new dry sump pump drive shaft and belt.
  16. Filling out annual leave form first thing tomorrow morning. Be a bit of a tow to get down there from Townsville but I'm sure it'll be worth the effort.
  17. That is awesome news. It deserves to be back with it's traditional owners. Not sure if you saw these yet but here's a few from my weekend that unfortunatly ended a bit earlier than expected. Although it made for an enjoyable afternoon knocking the tops off a few "cokes" with Mark, Benny and the Boys. I hope you can make it back next year though. Was good havin ya here. You to Ben. Need to get ya 32 up here. Can't wait to race up there again.
  18. That looks like a lot of fun Russ. How much were the nomination fees for that? Cirtanly looks like you'd be needin more than a few zip ties to hold the front bar on with that sort of downforce.
  19. Yeah I'll try to get something better in there sooner or later. The first runs on both days were fine befor the heat set into the shock oil so fairly sure that was the problem with them. I just finished off the new fuel set up. I've put 2 x 044s in there now with dash 6 braided lines to each end of the rail. We were having a bit of trouble on the dyno with some inconsistant AFRs and i wasn't holding much hope for the old SX performance pump. So tryed and tested 044s were the go.
  20. For the next event I'll be using a different mind set I think. Won't be looking at the stage times therefore won't be trying to catch the guys in front of us. Especically when it's the RGM R35 The brakes are still stock except for Blitz pads which I find to be excelent and some unknown brand cross drilled rotors. We suffered very little fade during the stages although when we got to the end they were fairly smoking. Only drama was, and still is to some extent was a bit of pad knock off so the pedal wasn't always picking up in the same spot.
  21. First up in the morning the car wasn't working too bad but I'm pretty sure that once we'd done a few stages the rear shock oil was cooked and they had no real controll over the spring so basicly it was like trying to rally a New York taxi. very bouncy in the rear. However I did make a mistake where I didn't rev match the downshift to second spot on and compresion locked it slightly and on cold tyres the rear just colapsted and tried to overtake the front. I got it back a bit straight but ran out of road. It's all repaired and racing again now with only some cosmetics to fix up like a new bar and stuff but for now my zip ties are doing the trick. Kinda drift spec.
  22. I loaded up You tube wth a few in car Vids from the Mount Stuart Tarmac rally including the ill fated 6th run crash. Run 3 gives some idea of how taily it was and there's a couple of classic catches in this one. Enjoy
  23. Besides us crashing out we were actually doing quite well. We were running 3rd outright behind a Skelta G-force and Giant's RGM racing R35 Gtr. I would have liked to have had more opportunity to sort out its handling issues but simply ran out of time. I'll try and get the in car footage up on youtube when i figure out how, but untill then heres some pics Befor and afters. At scrutineering At home, all stickered up and ready to rallying Where we landed looking from where we left the road And on the tilt tray mid way through day 2
  24. Hey guys. sorry for the lack of updates as i haven't had a Pc for a while. So far I've pretty much identified everything that's been damaged and I've started buying bits already. I bought a second hand blitz intercooler, Ordered a new custom PWR radiator, new radiator and headlight supports and also have a new oil pump input shaft as It was bent slightly by the impact from the bottom rad support. Still alot of work to do but well on the way to repair. I'll try post some picks of the damage from the rally when I have access to our own computer gear again.
  25. I'm glad you had a good enough time to wanna come back up next year Ben. I'm afraid I let the SAU team down a bit with my little detour off the side of the hill. But in saying that we were having a pretty good go considering the absolute horrid rear end set up we had. But it's on the way to repair now so we'll be back for next year. I hope you can drag some others up here with you for a good fun weekend.
