  1. Mate i did away with the whole lot right back to the power steering pump. Everything got turfed. lines solonoids actuators, the lot. I even pulled the power steering pump out and pulled it apart and took the hicas impeller out. Actually playing around with an old one atm to ditch the whole rear section of the pump, machine the shaft and match the rear cover. All i've done for the moment is i've machined a bush to replace the banjo fitting on the pump to stop the oil from coming out. It's dimentions are 26mm OD 16.5 ID and 16mm tall. Probably cost 30 buck from a machine shop.
  2. Yeah. Same here. should have them next week. I have a carbon bonnet that i don't really like that much to practice on so if i mess up it's no biggy. Let me know how you go with them. I've got a few ideas on how to line them up but untill they arrive and i can have a look at how they work i'm pretty clueless. defo nicer to look at than traditional pins though. Something else to consider that my mod plate guy mentioned last week was a secondary locking catch that I, like you have ditched. I thought a secondry lock would be having 2 bonnet pins. But apparently, by the rules, the bonnet must lock down when just closed with out the pins in. So, like if you forget to put your pins in the bonnet can't fly up. I'm not really that stressed about it but something to consider if ya get a copper that knows what they're on about.
  3. Looking great Russ. Come a long way since those seem welding pics ya sent me. Why did you and Mark decide to go back to twins? Thought the To4z kit was going on this one. Cheers Coop
  4. Ha ha. Thanks Ben. Although I have a decent shed at home the pics were taken down the back of my friends workshop that he lets me use. Note the dyno that 180's sittin on. I hope to be giving that a work out befor too long to.
  5. Well, engine met car last night. Dropped the new engine in after some further deleting of unnessary junk like all the heater hoses and oil heater pack, Now it's way less cluttered under the plenum. Also ran the first scavange line from the back of the head to the pump as it would have been a mission to get it on there with the motor in place. Still on the to do list is, finish the fuel system and change the injector plugs to fit the hks 1000cc, make all the intercooler piping, finish the oil system plumbing and make a coolant overflow bottle and also a breather tank. Plenty to do still. Hopefully get a windscreen in tomorrow to. Pics as of last night.
  6. Bring it down to Townsville mate. Paul at X-treme Motorsport......Power FC legend. There are a handfull of gtr's in town he has done safely running over 350wkw. 1 in particular has run 482 with a fc. ph 0747715228
  7. What about grinding the valve stems and leaving the shims a uniform size. Is that still done?
  8. Try Track side tyres in melbourne. Craig is the man to deal with. 18 months ago we could get RE55's landed in townsville for 420 each for 255 17s. Very helpfull and if i was not getting toyo 888s cheap through my friends shop I'd use him agian for sure. Obviously with the exchange rate they won't be anywhere near that now but his service was outstanding.
  9. I wish I had have known about the dry ice trick befor i bashed all my body deadiner off with a cut down paint scraper and a plastic dead blow hammer.
  10. Excellent. That's good news Ben. I hope you can make it.
  11. This is a somewhat sadistic thread Risking but i'll play ya game. This was my stock bottom end explosion while running a local hill climb. Standard gtr oiling system strikes again.
  12. If anyone hasn't come accross my build thread yet for my 32 heres the most recent shots. Just building it to mainly run hill climbs and tarmac sprints. N1 bottom end, gtr-s turbos, tomei head and dry sumped. Can't wait to get it finished.
  13. Little bit of work done over the last few days. I put the car back together after painting. Turned out pretty nice i think. also last night a bolted all the accessories onto the new motor so it's pretty much ready to go in the car.
  14. What is AASA? Austrailian Auto Sport Accosiation? All i really know is CAMS because all the events up this way are all cams events. There is no way my car will meet the M2 catigory at all cause it fails on about 10 criteria for being over modified but i'm told by Some people i've talked to that it'll probably sneak in under PRC rules which the event is also open to. I'm not a hundred percent sure that mine will pass but we'll see. They have let a few small curly ones slide in the past..... I sent Russ a email the other day to see if he'd be keen so hopefully he hasn't commited to anything else that weekend. Be good to have the RGM boys back up for another event. Otherwise anything I can do to help people make the journey up to Townsville possible, just let me know.
  15. Hey Ben. This is a legit tarmac Rally. ie with navigator. Open to Cams National rally licence holders. Cars must be compliant with rules of Cams 2009 manual of motorsport for tarmac rally or PRC. As in must be road registered, log booked rally car. But all the info you need is in the sup reg draft in the link from my last post and there's a bit of a poster for the event is on the first page. We have 4 club level hill climbs a year on the short course on this same bit of road but they only use 1.2 km of the rally sprint course. Hope you're as keen as i am. Will be a good weekend.
  16. exhaust manifold runs from the head to the turbo.
  17. Hi guys, Just wanted to let you know Townsville city autosports club Will be running the Mt Stuart Tarmac Rally sprint again this year here in Townsville on the Queens birthday long weekend Of the 6th and 7th of june. We have released the draft sup regs that can be found on our web site here Townsville City Autosports club In short the rally will be run over 8 x 7.5km Special stages on the Mt stuart tourist drive that climbs 510 odd meters verticly from the start to finish. There is more info about the course in the sup regs but we use part of the mountin for our regular short course hillclimb events. The Calihans in their black VH HDT commodore have won it the last 2 years running and have loved the event and it's social atmosphere. I hope to have my GTR ready in time to compete this year instead of just being in the sweep car. So if anyone wants to get out of the cold down there over the long weekend, we would love for a few southerners to make the trip up to North Queensland for a very good weekend of tarmac rallying. If anyone would like some more info please call me on 0401695849 anytime. Cheers Coop
  18. Thanks mate. Still no sun here to ge a good photo but i bought it home today at least.
  19. Humm big JUNs. That helps....haha. Well I've bought a pair of tomei 10.25 lift 260s but i also have a 10.25, 270 exhaust to try as well. What do you reckon? On the right track at all to make these hks's work well?
  20. Just found this thread today also. Twoogle was actually an inspiration to stick with the twins for my 32 and hence the GTR-S's on it now. you defo had the sort of torque i'll be looking for when mines finally finished. You ready to cough up those cam specs yet. haha. Still interested to see how you go with the T51r though. My Friend and tuner that owns the workshop I use up here in townsville is building a 26/30 running a brand new HKS t51r spl thats going into a 180 sx so interested to see what sort of power can be made from the big singles. Good luck Paul and keep the updates coming.
  21. A bit going on with the skyline the last couple of weeks. I've installed the new 4.36 diff gears, installed the new adjustable radius rods and solid rear cradle bushes. Also put the interior in for the last time and started organising the battery leads and earth wire set up. But yesterday was the day for the new colour to go down. The pics i have are not the best for showing off the colour but i'll try get some more if the sun ever comes out here in townsville ever again. Masked up and ready for paint And finished in the new R33 Midnight purple.
  22. I would be keen but i'll be overseas in august. I really wanna bring the GTR down from townsville to do a couple of events that might be close together. I'm not sure if too many of you may be aware but we have 4 hillclimbs up Mt stuart here in townsville that is an absolute ripper of a course. currently 1.2 km of new hot mix and 110 odd meters verticly. We are in the process of getting the approval from cams to add another 1000meters to make it 2.2 km. Giant owned the record untill mid last year and russ can vouch for how mad this bit of road is. If anybodys interested here's a link to our club website for details'. Townsville city autosports club Dates are set for this year in the events calander and it would be great to see some of the sotherners come up and give it a shot.
  23. Ha ha Kenny build a cage? yes he Ken..... Don't know about the first hill climb mister. Will be a very close thing if at all. Still so much work to do. And money. Hopefull ready for the rally sprint but. Got the engine bay painted on the weekend. Also under the guards, I finished the seem welding and got te stone guard on.
  24. I bought another ltr of lp2 midight purple yesterday from our local piant supplier to finish my engine bay. Just take them in the paint code and tell them how much you need. There should be no drama and takes about 10 minutes. You can only get LP2 in base coat though. So you'll obviously need clear coat to.
