  1. I'm looking forward to seeing the LF-A when it is released. I think Toyota are going to make one hell of a car. That V10 sounds amazing on youtube.
  2. Yeah but at what RPM is a full bore 2JZ making full power and torque? I'd imagine it would be MUCH lower in the rev range than a RB26 (read: more useable)
  3. Oops; my mistake I was under the impression it was an extension of the VQ series of engines; I guess I was wrong. And yes, the RB may be 20 years old; but that just proves that Nissan needed a new engine that was in the same spirit as the new GTR.
  4. I'd imagine that Toyota are more concerned with becoming the #1 car maker on the planet.
  5. Interesting read. Oh, check out the following website: http://www.engrish.com/
  6. comparing the R33 and R34 GTR's with the same year porsche turbos is futile. Apart from the R35 (and possibly the R32) the equivelant porsche turbo models (993 & 996) were so far ahead of the GTR's in terms of outright performance it wouldn't be fair to compare them. To my knowledge, the R35 is the only model with comparable performance to a porsche turbo - the older cars were designed to compete with the lower 911 models (Carrera, 4S, etc)
  7. Ha ha ha, I love the wikipedia reference! Getting back on topic, the IMO the RB26 is a boat anchor compared with the new engine. All I know is the RB26 was putting out around 300hp from factory, the VQ puts out around 500hp. I think that says enough.
  8. and its fairly cheap for a brand spanking new car from a factory showroom that can run some decent performance numbers. Hell, a skyline is still a nissan isn't it?
  9. I just bought the mag; I've only read the comparo with the older GTR's. I felt they were a little too harsh, considering the R33 and R32 are getting seriously old - they were light years ahead of many other cars at the time. I'm the first to agree that GTR's aren't the be all and end all of performance cars, but I think they have to put the older cars into pespective - I'd like to see how a VS HSV or a 993 Carrera would compare to an R33 GTR.
  10. I dunno about the Z06; i think on the tracks that have longer straights the vette may return faster lap times than the GTR. But I agree, it was cool to see how the R35 would do against other fast cars. I'm still waiting for a comparo against the superlegerra.
  11. Lets calm down. The car hasn't been out for that long, give the workshops some time to start coming up with decent accessories. And for the record, those rims look shite.
  12. I don't have the standard bonnet, only the CF.
  13. Bump. 12 months rego and minor service just completed.
  14. Lets not forget that the owner of the Veyron can choose to also spend big bucks on a fast GTR if they wanted to (if you have 1 mil euro to spend on a car then you can easily buy as many GTRs as you wanted to), while the GTR owner most probably couldn't afford to buy a Veyron.
  15. Lol, its not actually that hard. Just thank God you are doing any 'pure' stats subjects where you have to prove things.
  16. Final year of a Maths Degree (Double Major: Statistics & Finance). I'd like to eventually get into investment banking or fund management. I have to start at the bottom though, but I doubt I'll be able to get any graduate positions (they usually only take the straight A students). What about yourself, what are you studying?
  17. Yeah i think I remember seeing you while at the car park near the tennis courts. I always park at the back there, where teh parking spots are ona curve - they're a lot wider than the other ones.
  18. Yeah but just about any car would have suffered the same fate. I forgot to mention they had a 'best handling' episode a long time ago; including the then current 355, 550, 911, M3, GTO, GTR etc etc and they said the GTR was the fastest of the lot. One tester mentioned the R33 was the fastest point-to-point car he had driven at the time (remember it was in the mid 90's)
  19. 10 x Toyota Camry. Lol. Seriously though, I think a TVR of some description would be interesting... maybe a Sagaris. What about a BMW 335i or a 135i - not exotic but great drives by all accounts?
  20. Don't forget they gave the R33 the honour of racing against a McLaren F1 (I'm not comparing the two, obviously the McLaren is a piece of automotive art and history).
  21. Damn, that's some serious power.
  22. You know what, they're just cars. If you can't figure out that many people on this forum are CAR enthusiasts and can appreciate many types of performance cars (including the Z06) then you need to read threads other than this one.
  23. 0-100-0 implies that you'll start timing from the moment the car accelerates up to 100mph and finish timing once it reaches a complete stop. Thats not very complicated, is it? Last time I checked 13.9 < 14.0 Seriously though, can't you just appreciate that they are both great cars and are fast enough?
  24. Who knows what Richards will do if Nissan throw enough money at him.
  25. Didn't realise there were so many taxes . Still, 150K is a reasonable price for a car of such performance. You'd have to spend upwards of $250K to get a car with similiar performance.
