Yeppers, I think I was in that post somewhere. I'm quite quite certain that the "grain of wheat" are the slightly larger globes used in the A/C unit. They have a solid bare wire. The smaller yellow pigtail globes are for hazard/demister. You have to strip the yellow shielding off, and the wires are stranded. I have done both, and i'm very sure this is correct. I have just received another second hand A/C unit, all original, with working bulbs and globe caps. They are exactly the same size as the grain of wheat. I suspect that cookie-monster got the wrong globes from Dick Smiths when he asked for "grain of wheat", because the ones I got were the same as the online catalog picture, and identical to what came out of my (unopened) A/C unit. R33 series 1 and 2 should be the same.

Umm... I think the clutch changes to push in the R34's? Anyway, R34GTT intercooler works and fits fine. And R34GTT wheels. That's just what i've done. =-]

Like the one in your profile? ;o) Wine red makes it faster. Nice dyno though! Looks very smooth on power!

It can't be that cheap? (EDIT: I mean... for the celebrities and types of cars that normally enter, it's too cheap! Ferrari Enzo? I'm sure he did it with his pocket-change!) I'm starting to watch the 2006 eps now (up to ep2) Last years was pretty funny, and Jackass covered a previous year. I'd be pretty interested to see it over here in 2007... i'm sure someone with an R34 GTR V-spec II can represent! ;o)

Can You Retro Fit Tweeters In The Factory A-pillar Mounts?
RANDY replied to Bliksem's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I looked into it when I was doing my install.. Not enough room. And from memory, the little rectangle doesn't pop out, it's just a groove in the plastic if you didn't have the tweeter option. You probably would have to cut the holes out? -
Yep.. mine's an R33. The grain of wheat globe doesn't have the yellow wires.. are you sure you don't have the names swapped around?
-
What i'm saying is: The hazards were the yellow pigtails (not called grain of wheat) And my A/C were grain-of-wheat (from dick smiths) I haven't touched my dash globes yet.

Haha! Thanks guys.... I got the screwdriver out, before I asked this question. The metal spade that is part of the ciggy barrel moves with the spade and wire that powers it. It moves around like it's all one piece inside, which was really throwing me off. I'll try again today and push *really* hard on the clip. Much appreciated guys!

4x R33 Gtst Stock Wheels + Tyres
RANDY replied to RANDY's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Updated with photos and PM's replied! -
Well, I can't for the life of me remove the cigarette lighter plug. It looks like a standard spade connection, with a clip on the plug to release. I can get the clip clear out of the way, but the thing just won't budge at all. R33 series 2. Anyone done this and can shed some light? Cheers!

I thought the rear pods, skirts, and front lip were the M-Spec? My 96 s2 has the M-Spec bits, but no sunroof or ABS (optional) Some sites list 95 (1.5's) models as series 2, and also list ANY series two as M-Spec. I thought the whole bodykit on the series2 was the M-Spec option? It probably had stiffer suspension or something too? FAST shows my car as being a "GTS25TM1" Curious to know if other series2's don't have the "M1" bit at the end?

So did you use the same ones for the A/C unit, Brad? I did.. they were identical. I used smaller ones for the hazard and demister buttons. The smaller ones I got from JayCar, and had yellow pigtails on them. That was the size of the original ones when I pulled them out, so i'm pretty sure i'm correct with the sizes?
-
Not true? I ordered three and got three. Exactly the same size, same length legs, same voltage and wattage. Identical to the dead ones I pulled out. Since you're so sure of yourself, and because i'm such a blatant liar, i'll stop telling people to go get these globes. =-[ http://dseau.resultspage.com/search.php?p=...amp;isort=score

Yeah, those are the "grain of wheat" globes that you can get from Dick Smiths. Looks like someone's been into your A/C unit with them too... The right-hand side is what mine used to look like without the blue caps on them. My hazard button turned out a lot whiter than that...

4x R33 Gtst Stock Wheels + Tyres
RANDY replied to RANDY's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Oh... I recently destroyed one to make it fit in the bin. It's long gone now! I made my own out of thicker MDF. I'll get some pics posted up here (so all can see) -
I would guess that the AAC valve is fluctuating between cold and hot, which varies the revs. Mine does it fairly frequently, but then on other days it's 100%. When you disconnect the pressure/vac pipe for the fuel reg, do you block it, or just let the air come out? Be sure not to drive around too much with it off, I think the fuel pressure reg uses the vac/pressure from the inlet manifold to adjust the fuel pressure. You don't wanna get it lean on boost!

Ah... you mean "do all R33's come with REMOTE central locking" then? Mine has the motor in the door, which my alarm installer used... he said that the remote central locking was a dealer option, not from factory. So technically, my particular car never had remote from factory, but from dealer. I guess if the option wasn't taken, then it'd just be regular key-driven central locking. If you remove your drivers doortrim, there should be a motor there and a box on the outside of the plastic cover with a little antenna on it. That's the dealer option that I have. I unplugged and chucked the box away because it was useless without the key. So... no. Not all have it! =-]

Wheels are in pretty good nick. I'll check them more thoroughly in the light, but there is a light haze on them (pretty common apparently) and from memory they don't have any nasty chips out of them. Tyres are Toyo 225's with plently of tread left. They're in the garage at the moment, so i'll sus out the insides to make sure they're not worn unevenly. EDIT: Looks like the fronts have plenty left, and the rears have a little bit left. (see coin photos) Pictures to come shortly if requested! Looking for $250 or nearest offer. I'll only split them if there are two buyers wanting two each. Cheers!

Could be one of several suggestions. For HU's that don't officially support CD-R discs, you might need to check: Disc-At-Once (DAO) sometimes helps. The type of disc... i.e the colour of the surface. (silver or blue.. some lasers cannot read off blue discs because they don't reflect as much as silver ones) The burn speed. My old Kenwood didn't read anything that was burnt over 8X. Again, it's a laser/tracking issue. Original Playstations had this too, where you had to burn onto black discs at 2X for them to read. So, silver disc, 4X, disc at once. If it still doesn't work, your HU just won't read CD-Rs.

Might want to check that whoever fitted it used the factory hangar for the cat. There is an upside-down U shape that is bolted around the B-pillar. That goes on the outside of the cat, and the bolts that hold the cat to the dump/front pipe run through the holes in this hangar. It takes the weight of the dump/front pipe off the turbo, so if it's swinging around then i'd guess that it's not there, or not done up. Check it, cause without it you can warp or crack your turbo flange or exhaust manifold. (whichever breaks first I guess)

How Big Is A Thermal Fan For A R33 Series 2 Gts-t?
RANDY replied to anexiole's topic in General Maintenance
The fan strapped to your A/C condenser core? Have you measured it with a tape-measure yet? If yours is missing and you can't measure it, let me know and i'll take a ruler to mine tonight. -
Just checked. It's the fan that's strapped onto the A/C condenser, not the radiator. I thought this came on to cool the condenser when your A/C was on?

Apparently the switch method is your only solution for a HU with no antenna control wire. The only thing I can fault (that differs from my setup) is the front splits. I run my response amp on "full" for those, cause the crossover is supposed to split off the frequencies for high and mid. Putting it on high-pass is probably going to suck a lot of mid out of the door speakers. I have my sub running the same, bridging on 3 and 4 on low pass. You might have to describe what you mean by less "powerful". To me, a strong midrange makes the sound feel full and powerful... and that's probably not there with the fronts on highpass. My amp is the 4x100wrms full-range amp.
-
Thermo fan man. That's where mine goes, and I have to unplug it to take the radiator out. If you've had the timing belt changed or something like that recently, then someone left it unplugged. Does the A/C condenser core have a seperate fan to the one we're talking about???

Are Your R33 Gtst S2 Dash Lights All Working?
RANDY replied to RANDY's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
yeah, I'm not familiar with it either, but that's what paulr33 calls his optioned M-spec... might be easier to denote options with a * ?
