  1. just get the tyre shop to use mag wheel weights, the kind that stick on the inside of the rims
  2. a few ppl have done it, search here. From memory 26 rods makes a 2.4, 25 rods are 2.3L Machining of the block some is required to clear the swing of the crank.
  3. why the shit are GTR kits $150, yet gtst ones $500-$600??
  4. would also like to know this, as I know they make a kit for the GTR, but havent seen a gtst one. Hate buying all the hoses individually
  5. capacity doesnt mean anything. If the car was sold with that motor ie the r33 came with the rb25 and rb26 motors, then it is legally acceptable to do so, as long as you have all the emission gear, ecu, and brakes as mentioned. Any engine swap must have a front pass through regency (number check of the new motor), then a pass out the back to make sure its all done right. Ring up Transport SA or Rory as Madaz said.
  6. save yourself the hassle and ring transport SA to find out the specifics. If they wanted to, a trip through the front of VIS to check numbers, then a full inspection where they could pick on anything and everything. Doing the minimum is asking for a reaming.
  7. Location: kalkallo might help to read the user info below his pic.
  8. RB20det gearbox x2 Bought these off another member, but plans have changed and need the cash. One is missing reverse, the other has a busted 2nd gear, can rebuild the two into one good box. Ill let them go for what I paid $100 for both, come get em, located in Adelaide.
  9. before or after it was run in, and has it been tested both hot and cold, wet and dry?
  10. using forged 25 pistons in cubes and my motor since '04
  11. ill send u a pm with details of one going now for cheap
  12. ive picked up a few 20's, the last one was complete with manifolds for $100. edit/ im in SA also
  13. look into changing the way defects / regency works and im sure you would have a lot of votes too, which i would support.

  15. US...the home of small block v8s...I know what I would be slapping in.
  16. The head is flowed to suit the stock engine. Spending money on it to return minimal gains is the same as spending money on forged parts. The std cams are also the ones -again see the thread where others have spent money and have PROVEN results- that suit the best. You want to take a 2lt motor that hasnt got the most usable power down low, and shift the power up even more? Making it worse to drive off the lights to see a better curve on the dyno once you hit 100km/h doesnt make much sense.
  17. Someone explained it here years ago i think, but trucks are a different kettle of fish, being much larger motors running huge turbos that are running max pressure towing loads all the time. They need the time to help cool the turbos down, unlike cars chugging along at a regular 60km/h pulling 2.5krpms per gear change.
  18. Forged rods are a waste of money. Its rare for 2lts to throw rods or even pistons. A good tune is better than spending money on "piece of mind" bits and pieces. Listen to the advice people are offering.
  19. I know what you are trying to say, but if you try to look at it from the outside view.... You are spending 5.5k to get a fresh built motor, which will only be slightly better than stock. The point of throwing cash at a motor is to make it better, go faster, perform more. If you spent that same cash on the rb25, long motor with loom, and a gearbox...then ONLY did a std rebuild, (recon head, bottom end is about $1500) you would be in the same position cash wise, have a motor that does all the above, and have a base for much much more in the long term. The rb25 is capable of more in std form than your rebuilt 20 no matter what you do to it. There is a reason why no one goes and builds these motors, because the cost of doing so is the same for all of the rb series. Im not talking you out of it, just pointing out that the money spent and justifying it by saying you dont want a hand me down motor is irrelevant. Its probably better to say "I want to build it for the sake of doing it, and its my money, so what?" Probably would get rid of the people like me pointing out the obvious lol.
  20. After the following parts to suit r32 gtst r32 gtst (or GTR) Drivers door - prefer black, in good nick r32 diff - std one required for regency. I can shim it, so worn ones are ok r32 gtst - tail shaft. One that runs from the gearbox to the diff, not the sub axles. Have exams on this week coming, so can pickup anytime after friday.
  21. Bit of mis information running round it seems. ANY rb motor that was released in a particular model of skyline is legal to be swapped in. An r32 can legally run - rb20, rb25 and rb26. As long as the complete motor, loom and ecu are used. This means all emission gear as well, and its legal. The rb30 isnt due to the ecu used. All rb bottom ends are the same height, except the 3lt. Only it has to be lowered by re drilling the engine brackets, then it will fit in the 32 no problems or "pain in the ass". Roy knows the 20 more than anyone, so listen to him. As far as building a 2.2 for 5.5k...its your money. I can see the point in having a fresh motor, but spending big dollars for minimal gain seems pointless. I think the 3lt we built years ago - even then when things cost a lot more than now - cost us 5k. Its the ancillaries - rb25 gearbox, modded tail shaft, new clutch, bigger injectors, afm, ecu, turbo, then add tuning is where it adds up. As far as your original question OP It wont offer the torque your looking for. Its noticeable when jumping from a r32 to an r33 because you are getting 25% increase in capacity. The 2.2 is only a 10% increase. I hate saying this, but throw enough money at something and its easy to justify, but the cash would be better spent with a fresh stock motor + turbo setup like Roy had on his 2lt, or going for the 25 / 26 route.
  22. gotta keep focusing on them positives no matter what sometimes. My back gives me shit, but I still smile when I get out the car at uni sometimes....
