  1. pretty sure that thread, and simons response was for someone that wanted to take their car out drifting and related to engine oil, where the oil would move around in the sump. Over filling the car can sometimes mean the crank will be swimming in the oil, churning it causing it to go foamy and get full of air bubbles. Air bubbles do not pass through bearings well, and would cause less oil to reach the top of the engine, thus resulting in lower oil pressure, and worn upper engine components and failed bearings. This can also be the case in other parts of the cars driveline for a normally driven car.
  2. Def need a job with you guys! Im not saying that $1500 isnt much for me personally, but some out there who spend the big $$ on parts for rebuilds then a new crank is the least of their problems. Go look in the for sale section and theres a few threads with parts in there like $13K for a block or $11K for a head...add each part of that into a whole setup and the $1500 for a crank suddenly seems insignificant.
  3. Op is in Africa...according to the wiki "RB30E was found in R31 Skylines and VL Commodores in Australia as well as in South African R31 Skylines " Now lets throw that spanner into his works
  4. just saw this, and was wondering if you guys wanted to, if its possible to contact the motor registry to find out how many of the ADM GTRs have been notified as written off. Might save trying to track down a few...may they RIP lol
  5. inner guards, indicators, side skirts, and if you want to run the grille, then gtr headlights with the clips attached.
  6. Ive taken some tablets to ensure the regular-ness is there, trust me ive been there before too Havent tried acupuncture, too damn sore to move. Will look into it and other stuff to help healing once i see the doc again soon.
  7. You own it, paully is mayor, then im caretaker.
  8. Back on strong pain meds myself atm. Have a lower back problem that sees me on codeine on a regular basis, but ive separated two ribs from the cartilage in my chest which means the doc has stuck me back on oxy. He gave me 10 days worth, but from what im reading the damn ribs will take 6+ weeks to heal, which means in a week or so, if it feels like it has now for the last fortnight, then im going to be in intense pain again. Shits me how the doctor + the hospital said the only treatment is to take pain meds and rest, then turn around and only treat it for a few days when im out of it for what seems weeks...?
  9. most of the companies who make bushes sell whole kits, so its best looking at each and comparing / researching who people recommend as the best. Heres the Whiteline range for your car, not everything is needed: http://www.whiteline.com.au/do_segue.php?make=Nissan&model=Skyline&vehicle=R32+GTR%2C+GTS-4+AWD+1%2F90-1%2F93
  10. cruise control was a factory option for r32 models as shown by chris' post linking the factory items via FAST
  11. by the sounds of it, your better off getting the machinist to do all the work, and give you back the lot ready for assembly. Its not worth attempting to save money on a hone when its worth like $80, and easy to stuff up.
  12. As much as I agree about not spending money on 20s, I wish people would stop recommending "drop in a working 20". The cars are almost 20 years old now, and for the past 8 years every single r32 has only had 100,000Kms on it. A freshen up with new bearings, rings and a hone at a minimum will save a wrecker motor getting tired fast.
  13. might need to look at the tailshaft connection, the GTR one is a different bolt pattern to the gtst
  14. hopefully the few pieces available off ebay like the ecu and switches make up that cost. Would only require the loom and one or two more bits then from Nissan. Sorry to derail the thread btw, love the progress
  15. Ive been looking at this for a long time now, and the r32 had this option from factory, so I think that all 32's will have the plugs there to install it. Was going to look around at a few wreckers and see if i can find a maxima with it fitted, and see how easy it would be to install (or get someone else to). Ebay has a few parts, like the switches, and the control boxes, but the loom and actuators seem to be the hardest. If you get more info on this Chris about what can still be bought through nissan and how much, then it would be much appreciated. My local dealer is useless.
  16. got a diff here, with too low a ratio for me atm, and dont feel like swapping ring and pinion from my 2way, so was looking for a set for 4.3 ratio If anyone has the ring and pinion that gives 4.3, or even a diff with a stuffed centre (as long as ratio is intact) then let me know. cheers.
  17. was actually going to pm you about a cruise control setup, as im interested in one for my 32. Interested to see how it all comes together. Was going to start working on stripping mine now im on holidays, but managed to separate two ribs from the cartilage in my chest...means no work being done now
  18. alarms are irrelevant these days. One goes off in a carpark every 5 minutes, yet how many ppl care?
  19. usually cheap rubber, that can let go with repeated heat cycles. Dont want to have to get in there to replace the hoses that wrap around and behind the motor, so using a known quality brand of hose ensures "do it once, do it right"
  20. why some of us like to get things blueprinted when building a motor...running tighter tolerances instead of "in between X and Y should work fine"
  21. the bracket, and cable running off it going to the cabin somewhere would be a give away. As someone wise once said, they are assh*les, not idiots. From memory they even made someone weld in them silencer tips that you can remove to make it legal.
