R33 Gtst With R32 Gtr Rear Diff
MJTru replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks mate. The vidoe was very informative. Im good at dealing with diffs and thats very straight forward. Guess I cant argue with you now GTSBoy. lol. Thanks for all the help. The mechanical diff should really be better than a v lsd. ;) -
Lol. No it had to be for a rb26. Lol nice try tho. When you find that oil can let me know I would be interested in how its done or what you decided to do with your options. What motor is that.?????? Good though mate seems like you have it under control and your creative.

R33 Gtst With R32 Gtr Rear Diff
MJTru replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
We just finished the diff conversation. We used the r32 gtr wheel bearing and took the little tabs of the bearing hubs. So that we will never have a ebrake shoe issue. (Left or right). Wow. This was a very easy conversation. Thanks everyone for the information about diffs. We will drive the car today and see the difference. The mechanical diff will have to work untill or new unit reaches from RHDjapan. From tge little I see. Some bonuses are the r32 diff has cooling fins. Next it looks way stronger shafts and all. Is there a thread on here to rebuild or tighten up the clutches in the r32 rear diff. Im just curious. My mate said he will order the drag coil overs then we will work on chassis weight transfer at launch. -
R33 Gtst With R32 Gtr Rear Diff

Hmm. GTSBoy your right the car was originally an atuo converted to stick shift. But it still lines up with the ID tag of the car. Thanks for the document. -
R33 Gtst With R32 Gtr Rear Diff
MJTru replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
No no im not in the usa im close tho. But I just did a Google search and it is identifying the r32 as a mechanical LSD. which is weird. Cause the house aluminum part has a viscous LSD sticker. Could it just be a mistake on nissans part. The only way to verify is to take the cover off and look the the clutch disks. ???? This is interesting. As for the ratios im sure unless another mistake. The gtst and gts4 both have a rc43 and the gtr has a rc41 lsd gear ratio. I just verified that for the second time in my yard looking at all the ID tags the vehicles come wit. These im assuming cant be wrong. -
R33 Gtst With R32 Gtr Rear Diff
MJTru replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
There what you guys are saying. But I have 3 r32 gtrs in my yard as we speak. I looked at all of them and there all labeled with a orange sticker and on that sticker it clearly say viscous LSD. Thats 3 r32 gtrs that have these stickers. Im going to open one and take a closer look. And then report back. -

R33 Gtst With R32 Gtr Rear Diff
MJTru replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hmm. Im sure your wrong there. Even looking at the gts4 diff tags which I can take photos of. Its states that the r33 gtst is a rc43 and the r32 gtr is a rc41 and tge gts4 is a rc43. I own these cars and I looked at them all. On the housing on the r32 gtr diff the original oem sticker is still there and it say viscous LSD. so for me thats good enough. But I could open one and see. So it its a mechanical LSD IN THE R32 gtr why does nissan stamp it with the viscous lsd sticker. ??? Im lost to that GTSBoy. -
I have a close friend thats named rickypr33 and he cant make any post and im always asking him to comment on this site as well as help people with problems all he can do is read and like he cant even comment on someone post. Can you please help him out. He is losing confidence in this site cause of this. Can anyone help him please.

So like I said. I was preparing this car for the drag strip. So the first thing was to install the R32 Gtr rear diff. The gtr diff is a V lsd like most nissan so from what I heard on this site the R32 GTR from my findings is not a mechanical LSD and in comparison to a gtst4 unit the only difference is the gear ratio. Thats it. So to move on we ordered a LSD for it from RHDjapan and as soon as it reaches we will install that which will work way better than the V-LSD. like I did on my r32 GTR project. Next what I learned was the wheel bearings are different the shafts wont go into the gtsts hubs. The diff bolts right up like it belongs there. So we wanted the biggers shafts. So we called it quits and going home and will get the gtr bearings and I have a good idea on how to make it work. The bearings from the gtr has a peace on the that makes the left and right. This peace is separate on the nissans like 240sx skyline gtst. But on the gtr I dont know why they did this. On the housing of the bearings them selves they made a peace for the e-brake pads to fit. But to make this work I have 2 options I change the back plate and use the gtrs or I just cut that peace off and bolt it to the existing unit on the car. Eather way it will work and when it does I will be able to run the bigger shaft. Now this diff will kill acceleration but less my gear changes and I should do the quarter mile in 3rd gear in theory. As I do that in mt r33 gtr. May be different. But it will up my top end and lengthen the gears. I dont mind the acceleration loss. The car has a traction problem plus thats in my control how hard I launch it. Next is the coil overs. I found the perfect set. Look at the attached photo. Then its camber arms and toe arms. Then ill mock up maximum scwat having the springs out not going into the negative camber more than -1 degree off the line but starting out at + 1 or 2. Then ill use a bump stop to keep it at the flat 0 mark all the way down the track. Ill take video of the launch and study it. Look at the attached photos please.

R33 Gtst For Drag Racing (suspension)
MJTru replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I was looking and found these for a s14 240sx which would bolt right up to the r33 skyline. -
When you guys say out the side you mean out the side under the car right. Cause I cant do it out the side of the fender abs and a bunch of stuff in the way.

R33 Gtst For Drag Racing (suspension)

Will do mate. Ive seen it its somthing like suspension 101. And have glanced at it in the past. Like 8 years ago I had a mate offer me a setup. I cant for the hell of me remember his name. But his profile photo was of a r32 gtr with 1101hp converted rwd. Just for drag. it was white in color. He had mensioned that he uses blisten shocks and he has done some setup on r32 gtrs but he said yhe r33 gtst is quite close in weight and design. He was the one that told me how to do the reat brake down grade and what size E/T drags to get. He was on point. I wish I could remember his name. Thanks again I will read the thread you mensioned. -
R33 Gtst For Drag Racing (suspension)
MJTru replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks for a detailed explanation GTSBoy. What I was planning was having extra parts like camber arms shocks and toe arms all labeled and ready for the drag strip and after swap them back out. I just want a set of shocks. And arms all set for the strip. Switching that set up back to stocl or orginal is easy for us. I can remember back in the past shocks had oil in them and now they are gas shocks makes them hard to valave. Thats my concerns about the valving idea. Where I can get shocks that are oiled based inorder to revalve them would be the issue. I dont think skylines can have such a bad rear suspension setup. Its just that its independent rear suspension thats all but I see supras that scwat good and looks to have lots of grip. I just need a setup that will work. I've seen lots of independent rear suspension cars hook and launch out. But its a bit harder without a prep track but the physics remain the same I would think. Ok first off can you tell me were to find a shock or some that can provide a set of shocks with the following specs mentioned above. 90/10 and 50/50 rear. Thanks appreciate your time to answer. -
Hmmmm. 2k thats a lie. Ive never seen this. Dry sump at 2k. I take it that you made half the stuff yourself. ??? I would appreciate it if you could post some links of your setup or photos. What kind of pump did you use.??? Its driven off the crank using what method. Last time I looked at it a thompson pump cost about 900 usd. Wow. Im so interested. If thats the case take photos and if its a good setup ill give you 4k for the setup if thats not an incentive. Lol PM me.

Absolutely no laws. Its all at the officers discretion. Well im sure there is but its so slack. Even when it comes to seat belts. I thought the same thing when I first moved here.
-
Yeah it wasnt to bad. I packed it with sand and welded it closed on the ends. Then bend it. Thats the only thing that worked. I add a bit of heat as well. Try it again mate.
-
Kml. Relly cut it off. Mind you it sounds crazy. As I did that with my stock gts4 with stock turbo and man did it sound good at around 80mph. Whats varex?????
-
I have always tried to run from the dry sump setup. Yes the cost is crazy. For some reason I rather blow up the damn motor and build another. After learning why it blow up. Lol im sure I sound dumb there. Why does dry sump cost like over 8k. Damn. Ill have to do it one day. If I was to invest that in a car I would have to go with domestic power like a ls1 motor. Or somthing down those lines. I just hate american cars and how there built. I cant see doing a full domestic big block build unless its all out. I can see myself blowing 100k easy in a project like that and still fall inlove with the r34 parked next to it. Lol. So you soundnlike you have somthing in nmind.???

Ok. Maybe it was my mistake by not giving details on what im looking for. 1. Does pineapples work. Is it worth the money. 2. What kind of shocks will give me those kinds of adjustability. 3. It taking the sway bars off a good idea has anyone done it. 4. How about positive 1 degree camber good for drag so it should go flat whiles on the power. 5. Does 1 to 2 kg springs good. ?? Thanks for any help you guys can provide. -
