  1. Where would be the best place to buy this part as im ready to buy it now before I install my oil pan.
  2. 12. Damn. Thats big mate. My oil cooler and relocation kit is dash 10. Would 10 be fine.
  3. What do you mean back to back.?? Sorry I dont understand.
  4. Seems like you have done this before. What size line is optimal mate. Also if its in the boot I can run areally big one.
  5. I will soon do a real time result to help out using these two intercoolers. Both photos were taken a about the same angle.
  6. Top is ebay, bottom is apexi. We need to know what to buy by results or design at a minimum. Just to say hybrid or cooler pro has no relevance is it not??? Intercooler wise.
  7. Interesting. As well as appropriated. I thought that same thing today as to the fact that it reduces the air that passes the fins. But today by accident I pleaced each cooler next to each other. Just for storage sake. I was planning on putting them away later. As the day passed by there was lots of times where I passed the intercoolers doing this and that. What I noticed passing them was even the better fin design would let air pass the core. Cause at different angles I still could see light on the other side, well the cheap ebay core that is. But at a bigger angle I could see straight through the apexi core. At only certain angle was I able to see through the ebay unit. In short I can see this unit working the ambient air more for cooling. What would be great is to have this topic using the Internet as a minimum, to prove the characteristics of what is need for a good intercooler.by no means am I trying to be difficult or ignorant but fair.
  8. Hmm. Interesting stuff. Its nice see different points of views on this subject. Good stuff. Below I've posted 2 core types looking at the fins you can see right away what im talking about. Getting the right angle to take the photos was a bi**h. The top one is a cheap ebay core the bottom one is the so call apexi hybrid core. The ebay cheap core has a way better cooling efficiency than the apexi core. This is ETS’ Michael Roark understanding. And all these guys do is build intercoolers. Now these fins if looked at closely the staggering of the design is the more efficient setup you can imagine when you can see straight through the air crossing the fins are shadowed by the very first one thus leading to a very low efficiency rate the thicker it gets. whats funny to me, keeping an opened mind here is just visual looking at the the Japanese stuff. They are a little bit better from brand to brand. But in short if you dont know what to look for all that money spent really doesn't mean nothing if your not getting what you expect. These results or opinions needs to be proven to have any relevance to me personally speaking. Let me know what you guys think.
  9. Apexi hybrid
  10. Today I spent some time pulling out all my intercooler and doing a comparison on them after like 5 hours of reading up what makes a good intercooler. Even came across an old book I have on turbo systems and it was very detailed on how to make or choose a good intercooler for almost any application. Most importantly. The location and size of the area thats will be exposed to ambient air. Next it talked about the fins and there designs. That has a whole lot to do with efficiency. If you can see straight through the fins its not the best design. Some are big and look like this /\ others are like TT design and prove to be better. Plates are also design to dissipate the heat and integrated It seems that the actual core is way more important than the side tanks are. Well not entirely. All the tanks have to do is deliver the charged air equally to all the tubes. The core is key with the right design fins. I will post a FMIC its a Hybrid by apexi. Its crap in comparison to what I learned even my trust unit isnt as good that came from japan on my r33. Whats funny is I looked at a cheap a** ebay unit and it fell closest to the recommendation I found. Next it spoke about the thickness of the core the rule is thinner is better but most people dont have much room for space. There was a percentage used to reflect the efficiency loss after every inch in thickness used. I can seem to recall it right now. Next was tank tank location. To minimize pressure loss. Take a rb25 FMIC for exsample. It would be way better keeping the same area to have the tanks to the top and bottom of the intercooler insted of the sides. It would breath a whole lot better with less pressure drop or loss. Do to more tubes being run up and down rather than across. Lots more entry points. But all of this revolves around space. Its was very interesting to just visually do a comparison and see that visually your paying for. Hmm. Just thought I would mention this.
  11. I guess your right. But thats lots of oil to fill the line. Hmm good idea mate
  12. Engine hp sorry.
  13. Here is a photo I found online.
  14. I looked at one installed. The only mod from what I heard that needs to be made is the hood latch support bracket. And trim a small edge on the bumper.
  15. Yeah I was thinking the same thing to here guys. For the price ill hang it in my shop before I install it. Lol. What would be nice is to buy it and test it up against some trust units I have.. Ok ok. So one thing ive learnt in life is to follow my gut feels. What funny is ive seen this fmic on lots of drag cars. Well to be fair there is now why of really identifying the brand. Size wise its the same. So hear is a question. For drag racing and I really dont want to do a water to air unit. What a good FMIC for 800hp goal. Ill run the car hard at 600. But willing to crank it up at some point.
  16. Hi guys please look below. I found this FMIC and im woundering if anyone has used one like this before. Its really big and ive seen one like it on drag cars. I noticed they say its good for 35 psi at 500hp. Thats a little low on hp ratings is it not for something so big? http://www.kaze-speed.com/89-02-front-mount-intercooler-nissan-r32-r33-r34-gtr-skyline.html
  17. I feel that its different in the smallest way. But I feel what peopel are saying is to do is to just have flames and a loud bang bang sound doesn't make sense. It will kill the motor really fast. Anti lag systems depending on what kind will kill the motor faster and I can sit here and list a few parts that will surely fail. But real question at hand, is it worth it.? Ill be doing a anti lag system soon and surly not for the sound. Put it simple I want to win a prize next year and just forking out the cash would be easy to do, but the challenge is using a car to win the prize. Its more than just a tangible prize though. In short I do agree that these devices speed up the destruction of the vehicle's engine. I hope its worth it. Oh I remember the old days of piggy backs before it took me years to learn just to get a new ecu that can do it. Lol. I never thought it would be this beneficial. All the other stuff was just a bonus.
  18. They only con I see to have this part is the space it takes up. I rattled my brain as to where to mount this part. I may end up taking out the ac condensor and mount it round that area. Right behind the hood latch and on top of the intercooler.
  19. From what I hear its a bit more expensive to do a tune up. Well that also depends on the accumulator size your going to use. Like he said above on a oil change discharge it and the oil capacity of the accumulator is the additional amount of oil you will add to your sump. Start the motor up close the valve to the accumulator after about 1 minute of running. Check your oil level with the valve close with engine off. If all is good. There ya have it.
  20. Well I already have an extended sump. I was wondering if I should run a accusump oil accumulator. After reading up on it a bit. I slowly started to understand how it works. The way it works. I dont think you would even need a larger sump for that matter In the event you lose oil pressure for a split moment the accumulator would take care of it until oil pressure is returned. Well for any where from 15 to 60 seconds. Has anyone used them before. The car im building is for around 800hp the very most. And only for drag racing. The oil accumulator can even be used for pre oiling before start up. Cost wise I dont even see a need for a extended sump really. Any thoughts would be very appreciated.
  21. How did this work out for you mate. Im planning on buying one in the next month or so. Is it easy to drive on the streets. ??? Is it the atb unit. ?? Hmmmm
  22. Yes it does have to do with valve srings as mentioned above, but I think what everyone is getting at, is there is way more things to do than just list whats needed to run 35psi. Sounds like you want people to do the home work for you. I have never met someone that just told what to do, and people just run out and do it. There would be some kind of human intervention on your part. Next time start out by simply spending time list what you have at the moment parts mods and go from there. Or you will just get simply answers mate. Most people I know associate boost with speed or power. Hmm. A friend of a friend of mine had a dodge neon just as he learned how a waste gate worked he cranked the boost to 30 psi and now walks to work. Once in a while I give him a ride if im heading that way. And all.he tells me is "man that car was crazy at 30 psi." I wounder even today if he learned anything.
  23. Hmmm I just saw this. I was thinking 600hp would compensate for it to mate. Im just trying to figure out whats best here. This is a very good point. Has anyone done or tried both setups at this hp goal for drag use only. I can see 4.3 being nice for time attack car. I have enough parts to give both setup a try. Just woud like to save some time.
  24. Hi mate after reading up on this topic. And from what your saying you are running your stock gears r32 gtr (4.1) gears and using a gts4 gears 4.3 would be worst, I'm guessing cause your meaning ill have to run through more gears. What I can't understand is with 400hp your on the top of 4th gear using stock differential from a r32 gtr. Hmmm what rpms is the motor running. Its hard for me to imagine your on the top of 4th. I understand your point though mate. Hmmm. I hate these kinds of decisions. But like Gtsboy said, guys are doing the gts4 gears and using the gtrs center (crown and pinion gears from gts4) some even claim the mines gtr of do a similar set up. Thanks and I hope you would elaborate a bit more.
  25. A little to late Griffen. I just got a new sump from Rob at RaceFab. Im got damaged in the accident. Oh what about the turbo setup guys Do I need a new turbo or a gt42r will do the job. Im planing on getting a 6 boost manifold from Kyle (6boost) Thinking T4 twin scroll with dual 44mm tial gates. See I already have a gt42r on a rb25 its way to big for the car a laggy like crazy, but its brand new and only drove the car one. But if I have to ill buy another turbo. Thanks again. Opps I should have made a new thread sorry:unsure:
