  1. if you want to take the gearbox out in the backyard - you're gonna need stands on all 4 corners up as high as possible as well as a sturdy trolley jack to take the weight of the gearbox. Oh and a second person for sure!! Good 2-3 hour job, but do-able. edit: that's for a gtst - no idea how much harder it is for a GTR...
  2. So anyways....thought i had a slow leak, turned out it was a crack in my rim. Getting the rim fixed, but noticed that the camber wear on my tyre is so much that it it's now not exactly legal. Now given that my rim repair is going to be around $130, and I'm broke, i just need the tyre put back on for the next two weeks til i get paid and can think about replacing the tyre (which has about 11mm of tread everywhere except the inside 15mm of the tyre). So does anyone know of a smaller tyre place close to the city that would just put the tyre back on for me? Or do you think a normal tyre place would put it back on for me if i said i was just taking it to the track or something? dodgey i know, but i really can't afford new tyres at the moment!!
  3. is there any r33 track setting packages?
  4. ...hmm, shoulda put my alerts on. it would have been great to see a whole heap of thread whoring going on. jagule - can you explain what you mean by "custom fingers"?? by the way, i created a thread in "drivetrain" about clutch reviews that no-one has added to...not sure why. everyone wants to say "i've got xxxkw and used xxx clutch and it's great" but doesn't want to provide it in a useful format...
  5. cools i'll probably come grab them off you one night next week if someone doesn't get them before me
  6. no worries, i'll be interested to see if there are some comparable (or even stronger) solutions for less or equivalent money cos my box has warts....
  7. Howdy, I was just wondering.... if anyone with a heavy duty button, ceramic, twin plate etc on their r33 gtst would let me drive it for like 2 minutes. You can sit in the car with me and/or take my car for a drive also. I just want to drive around the block so to speak to see what different clutch setups feel like as i'm going to have a to get a new one shortly. Can be in brisbane or the gold coast - and like i said, i only want to feel the clutch, i don't want to dump the clutch or do a burnout and you can have the keys to my car and follow me if you like. Anyhoo, try not to flood me with offers but if anyone wants to help a brother out it would be much appreciated. cheers dane

  10. i'm pretty sure it was just where i had held the can too close. but my uncleanliness sure didn't help. the patches seemed to disappear overnight anyways so i'm happy. what a mission it was to install the front bar though!! cut reo fit reo back up try to fit bar make bolt holes a little bigger cut reo some more! while it's still on the car cos i was getting frustrated (+dodgy) cut hands fit bar! can't get in to tighten bolts! cut little strips off the back of the front bar to get ratchet in there tighten up! looks a little flared because i need to widen the holes a bit cos they don't line up properly but it's on!! then i realised my tyre was flat!!?! MOTHERF*CKER!!!!!!
  11. how come you're selling the twin plate? +1 on the location. if dan don't buy the clutch i probably will
  12. no worries. i'm at kangaroo point - how far is sunnybank from there?
  13. if there isn't enough opinion to say avoid the chinese 'lines' at least, i've also heard that they use cheaper rubber in the lines causing them to break down and eventually block the oil flow...
  14. kudos (trader on here) has a few R33 boxes for sale under 2k
  15. damn. that is a good price, even for 17s. if you were in qld i'd buy em.
  16. i was doing a dodgy paint job on the lower lip of my spare 400r bar last night (painting it black). I'm just using the repsol acrylic from supercheap and i noticed in a couple of places there are white-ish/grey patches.... Why do i have these and how do i get rid of them? i put on 3 coats and they were present in the first coat and are still there now. now being a 'dodgy' job, i didn't clean everything really well (one spot has a few crackles/bubbles....gonna need a bit of a sand on that bit). i did give it all a light sand also and forgot to wipe the dust off....impatient AND dodgey! anyway, not a big deal, just wondering if there's an obvious reason. only post if you have experience please not cos you "reckon it's probably cos of" or "i'd say it's" ...... i know i did a heap of dodgy things, but there are only a couple of patches so i'm thinking there is a 'proper' explanation.
  17. ...so much irrelevant crap. no wonder it's hard for people to find answers (though they should take the time to search if they've only just joined the forum). I don't know the answer, but the points that other people have alluded to are: *10k will not get you to 300kw sorry buddy (especially when you're spending some of that money on bling...what is more important) *you haven't factored a new turbo into your spending and the stocker sure as hell won't get you near 300kw *your track record makes me for one nervous to have you anywhere near a powerful car (by the way it's a scientific fact that the human brain is still developing 'reasoning' capabailities into the "20's"...make of that what you will) *you NEED to do some more research and you'll see what is needed for your quest and what is not - and even then, you'll still be learning and changing your mind once you start doing it. other than that, all i could say would be stuff i've "ascertained" from being on these forums, i've only done minimal mods and don't know what power level i have, but it'd be a fair bit under 200kw. Good luck though, hope you enjoy the experience of 'working' on your car. I've done all the work on my car (basic stuff like, timing belt, water pump, exhaust, fmic) except the wheel alignment and learning about everything as i go has been AS MUCh fun as actually driving the thing.
