  1. Thanks for that, so if my understanding is right, the more the vacuum, the better, more effecient your engine right?
  2. What exactly does boost vacuum show? Is it surplus air for the turbocharger?
  3. Ahhh... good idea, might look dodge though hey. Any idea if the gauge connected to that nipple will show vac as well?
  4. Anyone know the longevity of the turbotech? Seeing the spring is under constant pressure when on boost, will it's 'springyness' lessen over time with heat, etc? Is it going to be something we need to replace every few years?
  5. The hose that came with the Autometer gauge (hard white plastic one) wont go over the extra nipple from the plenum, it's a pretty small internal diameter. Is there some rubber attachment I can get that will connect the 2? Anyone with the back pressure explanation? Thanks.
  6. Just hooked this up this morning and my oh my, unbelievable how quickly boost starts coming in now. It starts building up from less then 2000rpm! Currently set at 7psi, seems to hold well enough with no spiking. Will try 10psi later. I tried to dial it down to 5psi with no success, boost went more then 7psi everytime i loosened it too much. Must be the spring not reaching the ends and not pushing the ball bearing, resulting in leakage... or something. Not complaining, with boost coming in so early, i reckon you actually save fuel because you require less pedal to the metal :laughing-smiley-014: Installation was a breeze (S2 Stagea RB25DET Neo) as long as you know which hoses to disconnect.
  7. Yeah, oil gets everywhere, one thing i wish i did was to put a plastic bag over it first before undoing it altogether. Good way to keep the oil off the engine and garage floor!
  8. Haha! You probably seen it just didn't know exactly what you were looking for. I myself only recently did my own oil/oil filter change and I know it can be daunting especially when you don't have anyone to confirm what you're looking at. It the cylindrical thing (usually blue) on the left side of the engine (if you're facing the engine bay) towards the bottom. You can access it from the top or bottom, I loosened mine from the bottom then took it out from the top. I'd recommend getting stands to jack you car on to if you're going to do a change yourself.
  9. Interested to know where this fuse is, pics? so the alarm/immob still works yeah?
  10. Thread hijack... kinda. I've got a S2 Nissan Stagea and AAA just quoted me over the phone about $450 for a 3" mild steel catback, and about $50 to fit a hi-flow cat if i brought one in. pretty good price i think.
  11. Spotted on Currie St, Adelaide, nice looking red S1 with fat rear wing... number plate... RSFOUR
  12. Personally a car of this size and (quite) considerable weight, the thing i wanted most was traction. Considering the Attessa system doesn't even lose traction on gravel surface from stationary to foot fully planted down pretty much sums it up. Overall performance i believe is much of a muchness really, what you gain from less weight on the RWD you lose in traction compared to the AWD. EDIT: Keep in mind the AWD is also really 95% rear 5% front wheels until the rear wheels lose traction.
  13. Great looking example... good luck with the sale.
  14. Crikey, haven't checked this for a bit. Sorry! Prolly around $400-$500 for a 2nd hand catback exhaust. Nothing loud or anything, just something that will let the baby breathe a little better.
  15. Car goes into Boostworx to get head gasket fixed (long story) next Mon, then i'll have a play with the boost. More then likely to set it at 10psi for the tune and leave it at that... with the stock turbo and all.
  16. Thanks for that. I ended up putting it somewhere else, with advice from a mate whose gauge was conected the same way. But where i have it at the moment doesn't show back pressure vacuum (before throttle body or something), only boost, which is accurate (7/8psi). I'll move it to the hose from the plenum instead, now i know that's better. Can anyone explain to me how the back pressure vacuum works? And why i need to see it on the gauge. Less vacuum is better or worse?
  17. Hey thanks for that. Yeah it has the hole, i think they went back to the holey ones sometime ago. Cheers.
  18. Don't worry, i think i got it. No 5 is the wastegate actuator and No.4 is the turbo line right? So i connect 4 and 5. Can someone confirm so i at least know for sure? Cheers! EDIT: Do i have to put a stopper on line No.2? Or leave it connected to the solenoid? EDIT2: Do the ends where connected to the mbc need the metal bits to hold them on? Or should zip ties suffice?
  19. Hi there fellow wagon owners, Trying to install the TT mbc on myself and was wondering if anyone could confirm which is the turbo side connection hose and the wastegate side connection hose. Thanks for any advice. EDIT: pixel8r, would love it if you could take a pic of where yours is connected to in the engine bay, cheers!
  20. Can anyone with a Series 2 with a boost gauge take a picture of the engine bay where the vacuum hose is cut for the t-piece connection please. Installing mine this weekend (today!) and would like to be sure before i start slicing and dicing! Thanks! EDIT: Ok, now I'm trying to wire it to the lights, but only when i turn the spots on.
  21. Hey man, that would be great! just a close up of where the hose is tapped to in the engine bay would be great. rest looks easy enough (according to the instructions that came with) except for the electrics bit ofcourse. edit: The thing i'm not sure about is which Vacuum line i cut to attach the t-piece.
  22. Planning on installing my boost gauge this weekend, would love to find updated post with updated pics that work. Looks pretty straight forward, but would like to make sure i'm connecting the hose to the right line!
  23. Do you have the cargo net that stops things flying to the front of the car in case of emergency braking?
  24. Cheers, will do that then. Can't remember which is better, i think with hole is better for high boost or something like that. Probably much of a muchness really.
  25. Got mine last week, there is a hole. Should i set mine at 9psi? I have a stock standard S2 Stagea (RB25DET NEO) REALLY don't want a spike to blow the turbo
