This is what I would do just so that you get it out of your system and know you've done all that you could to save a buck - and what's more this proces (up to this stage is still free of charge) ... write a letter and send it to CIVIC Compliane or whoever the traffic road authority group is... explain your case - talk logic, facts not emotions or anger as it will do you no good... give them 2-3 weeks to review the situation and they will then write back to you advising their decision on the matter... 90% they will say no - you must pay your fine and will also include a standard paragraph stating that you can have your case heard in a law court etc... if you get this response, the war is lost - pay the goddamned fine and move on with your life... however, if they decide to revoke the infringement and let you go - then you're a happy chap... nothing to lose and what's more, you can delay the fine for a couple more weeks so I guess there's no harm trying... but struggling is futile IMO...
