  1. Chickenleg, popeye's R33 price is most definitely not the norm. Because one car is dirty cheap it doesn't mean all the others should drop prices.
  2. Where are you advertising? Sign up to a heap of forums (street commodores included) and drop a link in your signature. Possibly whip up a really quick MS Word web page with a few pics etc and bobs your uncle. Still have the std bumper/kit etc for it? Rip it off, will probably sell easier + you can sell the kit and get a little more total back.
  3. I wouldn't let pedders touch a commodore let alone an import. Their bushes suck. They almost sold me a camber kit for my old VS that was literally nothing more than a toe kit. Go whiteline or noltec for bushes.
  4. Should have no problems knocking on 270rwkw with an fpr, others have done it. Then again others have managed 250-260rwkw on 370cc injectors. :
  5. The comparision I was more interested in was just as the clutch is let out and idling along then giving the throttle a quick flick. At this area in the rpm both turbo's aren't boosting nor do they have time to build boost. In other words the throttle punch when you go from nothing to a quick stab. If that makes sense. Its weight that is the killer. I could most definitely feel the potential and was pretty damn impressed the way such a big arsed turbo spools on the 3ltr. It builds boost quicker, hits earlier and has more meat under the curve than an rb20det running an rb25det turbo. It felt to me it was wanting to hit hard a shade over 3500rpm so once all tuned up and it has some fuel pulled out (as they do run rich and yours was) it will feel pretty damn snappy.
  6. Well yes I completely overlooked the weight issue. I had another thought after I wrote that post. I remember when I dropped the rb25det base maps and airflow flow reference in to my pfc, it did make it a little more punchy. There was a definite difference between the rb20det base maps and the rb25det's. Should be good once its all tuned up.
  7. Beer Baron, So its perfectly normal to see 80% duty or there abouts on the stock rb26 injectors with around 230rwkw?
  8. I still think this setup would be awesome for a street gtr running mild say up to 400rwkw maybe more, depends where it proves to be reliable. Being able to run 2.9ltrs and retain the stock rb26 block has huge advantages for those that wish not to run the rb30 block.
  9. Stock rb30 bottom end + rb26 head is around flat to low 8:1. Sky30 has pushed slightly over 300rwkw on a second hand $50 rb30e that had done 270,000km's. I believe he did ~20,000km's at around 240rwkw then went on to do another 20,000km's but with a shade over 300rwkw. Its now off the road as he's dropping the motor in to a GTS4. Many underestimate the ol' rb30. They are a tough motor. I am 100% with Sk on this one... 9:1. I run around 8.7:1 and there is a noticable (not huge but noticable) difference compared to an rb30 running 8:1, all though the rb30 was fresh.. FOOLBOOST, what do you think? Much of a difference in initial off idle torque between ours? Probably best to wait until yours is tuned..
  10. Good on you Mark. Big thumbs up for your ingenuity.
  11. Washing your car in SA on your own driveway is allowed if its on a 'special' car wash mat. I'm 99% sure your not allowed to wash the car simply on your driveway, according to the link below. A hand held trigger nozzel is allowed. http://www.sawater.com.au/NR/rdonlyres/71C...low_theFlow.pdf
  12. I owned a V8 Commodore. Cost me close to 5k in repair bills within 9months of owning it. First.. Subframe cracked where the diff mounts up (IRS) Second.. Gearbox bearings died Third.. LSD Diff openwheeling and grinding really bad. So my nice 'solid' lol commodore was not so solid after all, for a daily cruiser yes maybe, if I could put up with the rattles. But as a car that will handle a bit of a hammering, no. I freaked the first time I jacked the commodore up, opened the drivers door to grab the phone went to close the door and noticed my nice 'solid' commodore's door wouldn't close as the whole body twists when the car is jacked up. It was literally a good 5cm's out. :S Talk about a solid chassis. No wonder those things split in 2 in high speed accident. I've owned one so I can pay out on them.
  13. My other half saw vange's car parked in town today. I believe she was in north adelaide.
  14. So who's missing a GTR badge?
  15. Awesome.. Good to see you reading and researching.
  16. Yep so you have experienced it clean up over 6k? My experience wasn't the same, they simply crapped out and stayed crapped out big time.
  17. I've found the standard cranking ms time not to be the best and they do need tweaking. With 10degree coolant temps first thing in the morning mine needs a +10degree cranking of 35ms for it to spring in to life quickly. With the standard 24ms it takes a little to get going and some times will splutter and carry on then rev up. 35ms I've found to be perfect, nice clean quick start that flicks straight to 1600rpm. It appeared fine during the warmer months as coolant temps first thing in the morning were always 16+ degree's, most of the time 20+degree's. Once I saw a coolant temp first thing in the morning of 34degree's. Damn that was a warm night.
  18. Have you noticed any drivability issues with extremely light throttle? stumbling when you give it a quick stab from idle? hard lumpy cold starts? My fuel consumption was fine one day then basically sh*t the next. Replaced o2 sensor, no difference, replaced injectors with instant improvement/back to normal economy. Strange enough around 350km's per tank is what mine dropped to when the injectors decided no more. I've always wondered if running them at 100% duty accelerated their death. In closed loop mode the o2 sensor flicks between 0.2v and 0.8v. It should flick back and forth around 3 times within 1 second (from memory) with rpm above 2000rpm. If you find the voltage settling for any period of time it means its NOT in closed loop, i.e when you are giving it a little it will generally sit anywhere between 0.72v and 0.94v depending how rich its running. Mine hangs around 0.86v at WOT. When mines first started obviously the o2 sensor is not operational as its not up to temp, I remember seeing 3.94 or something volts, it gets up to temp fairly quickly once driving and beings flicking between the 0.2 and .8v.
  19. I've been in a mates car that has crapped out coil packs. It was ok when cold but as soon as the motor would warm up it was nasty as as soon as it had some boost in to it. You say it clears up at around 6k then pulls cleanly... This doesn't occur with stuffed coil packs, stuffed coil packs generally are worse as rpm and boost increases. I once have had what you experience, as boost started to be made it would fart and carry on, then at higher rpm it would clean up and pull nicely. I had the plugs out a good 3 times before I noticed a nice hairline crack in a couple of the spark plugs. That was around 3years ago. TO this day and 210,000km's the coil packs are still ok.
  20. When I chewed 3rd gear I dropped in another wrecker rb20det box. The drain plug came out fine but the filler plug was and still is 100% stuck. I used a 1.5m breaker bar, using 2 people in a pit we bent the bar, we literally chewed through the metal of the filler plug, I bought a perfect fitting socket type fitting for it so there was no slack and no chance of rounding it, we didn't round it we literally moved the metal/alloy. There was no way that filler plug is coming out. I filled mine through the shifter hole.
  21. I've bought plenty of stuff off ebay in the past. It appears to simply be the ebay way, no communication apart from the 'payment received tag' that is often selected anywhere up to 4-5days later when realistically transfers only take a working day or two.
  22. T-u-r-b-o, Select init. then turn off the ignition. Turn back on the ignition and the values will be reset.
  23. When your old motor was in there the fuel pump was newer.. They don't last forever.
  24. Definitely an awesome result with a huge streetable power band. Care to share how and why you modified the crank, pistons (specs rb26, rb30 or?) used etc?
  25. Erm.. yer.. Origionally my username was my real name.. I later had it changed to the obvious. Talking about pies... I see they contain less fat than those McDonald Salads.
