Andrew, My oldies run a 2500+ barton thats been running @ 3200+ speeds for the last couple of years. As the multipliers are locked on the bartons all you can do is fiddle with the fsb. Depending on your m/board and ram you should be able to simply jump the fsb up to 200mhz and push the chip to 1.8v and it will be stable. The old amd's do pretty damn well, just need to get their core speeds up to 2200mhz (~3200mhz p4 speeds). Mines running at 2300mhz @ 1.9v.

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
Cubes replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What did you end up doing for lifters? I now have a spare s/h set here, will pull them out and give them a good clean. Also.. Can you take note if there's ANY difference in before/after oil pressure. Obviously only when warm, allthough it may also affect cold but my guage max's out on cold start up anyway. -
Fuel Economy, Waste Gates And Boost Controllers
Cubes replied to GTaaargh's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes so it may not be applicable. The 3ltr does give you a lot more acceleration and shove in the back before the needle hits 0 vacuum. Enough so that you leave traffic driving in vacuum, but only just. and the torque question... an rb30det making around 200rwkw makes roughly the same 'peak torque' as an rb25det making 300rwkw. -
Foolboost, IF the AAC valve doesn't make any difference when adjusting it means you need to clean it. They tend to become gummed up and as a result blocked. To adjust the AAC valve remove the plug that is attached to it and set idle as close as possible to the pfc's target idle rpm. Be sure it doesn't nudge over the value, ever ever so slightly under is where I have mine set. Using the AAC valve I am able to set the idle so the car stalls and the opposite idle at around 1200rpm. Once thats done reconnect the plug, turn the car off, re-init the pfc, start the car and let it idle for a few minutes until the idle 'learns', during that time also let it learn the a/c idle by turning on the a/c. Setting up the idle this way the idle is 100% perfect, it never hunts. Remember to tell Shaun you will need the datalogit on it as the standard rb20 airflow reference map is not suitable.

NA_R33, The harmonic issue isn't a problem providing you fit up a crank collar and throw on an ATI balancer. All though just this in itself will set you back close to 1.5k. :S

When you simply stroke out a motor and do nothing to the head it will make the same power as the smaller motor but at a lower rpm. As the same power is at a lower rpm the motor will be making more torque to make that power as Power = Torque x RPM / 5252. But.. Peak power isn't everything, the car will accelerate quicker to that peak power as the average power will be higher. So if you want to really make use of the rb30DE you will need to keep a nice high comp 10:1+ and drop a set of nice cams in it. This is where the 3ltr is worth while over the smaller motor, a 3ltr with big cams is more streetable than a 2.5ltr with the same cams. Go the VK56DE its a nice motor, you won't regret it. If you want something a little revier go the VK45DE.

I paid $1660 for my s/steel exhaust ~4years ago. Initally I kicked myself and though I should have gone the cheaper mild steel. But now.. the exhaust is still perfect where as the mild steel would have been nearing repairs.

Ring around a few local workshops. Prices vary.

Fuel Economy, Waste Gates And Boost Controllers
Cubes replied to GTaaargh's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Get it tuned better, most tuners drop straight to a high 11-mid 12 once its making some boost, there's no need to run so rich at such low boost levels. Lean the bugger out. There's a good thread floating around that discusses economy tuning. I've found low rev's, higher load is better than little load higher rev's. i.e short shift it, even if it means you need to accelerate more to get you moving. -
R34 Gtr Injectors Same As R32 Gtr Injectors?
Cubes replied to PhilGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Only difference is the r34 injector has a silver body vs the 32 black body. So your WRONG WRONG WRONG Duncan. -
A suprising amount of leg room in the rear. Felt the same as the inlaws VN dungadoor.

Madaz, Don't be disheartened. Do remember every one handles incidents such as these differently + the 'church' thing may scare a few people away. Myself. Church doesn’t faze me as I've been brought up through Catholic primary and secondary with an Italian background so there are some very strong religious ties there. However I'm not overly religious, My problem is I think and question too much. Either way I won’t be able to make it as it’s too early for the little man; I have to head out to relatives later in the day so I don’t want the little man turning in to a little monster. A thought for those that the incident has directly affected, why not head out to the crash site and drop a few flowers, sit and have a good look in an attempt to get over what you have recently been through. I really don't believe because Tony wasn't a skyline driver people don't care; people do care and feel saddened that some one has lost their life, however they don't know him directly or have met him so instead they simply move on and try not to dwell as dwelling only brings more sadness.

GPU's aside what do you get from SuperPi? http://www.xtremesystems.com/pi/super_pi_mod-1.5.zip I believe the record is held by an Intel Conroe (Core Duo 2) @ ~15secs for the 1mb test.

lol.. My 3dmark06 score is a crappy 780 for the gpu and 856 for the cpu.

I'll get around to it. What sized wheels are you running Andrew?
-
But its in your back window. Be carefull not too be pulled over, my number plate is carefully trimmed to fit in the location. Has been since 1998. Damn its been in Aus for quite some time now.

It may be worth mentioning to the police re: the hazards. Just a thought.

Ahh bugger.. ADSL2 is nice, web browsing you notice a slight speed increase over 1500 but dloads and video streaming is where its all at. What exchange are you on? I'm on the Corro.

Maxx has plates. I had a little look last night.. And I must say, the R34 is a very nice car. I had a spin of Maxx's old R33 and it did feel rather large. You can definitely feel how the R34's have taken a step back to more of a race/sports feel of the R32.

and ud still have coil break down.

I'm unsure how other cars are setup but the turbo skylines run a water galley around the injector hole. I assume the idea is the same. Hot fuel vaporizes better. Sure there's the oring to insulate the injector but there is no doubt some of the heat will transfer. Not worth the hassle. Convert it to gas. I remember some one on SAU has done so with good results.

If premium stays 10-11c more than ulp the higher fuel prices become the more attractive premium is. + 10c more is ~$5 more per tank so bugger all in the grand scheme of things. I've tried ULP in my GTST. Almost as soon as it comes on boost it knocks like buggery, definitely not good for it but 'ok' if you were cruising on the open road without giving it a bootfull. I run a PFC so I am able to see the knock levels. I wouldn't recommend running ulp on a stock ecu as you can't see whats going on.

Expecially when one spends ~6k on a motor/head. I so wish sometimes I did what sky30 did.. s/h rb30e for a hundred or two, drop a s/h rb25 head on, big turbo and boost the crap out of it.

I have a nice dsl2 connection that has 1mb upstream. With internode soon to offer annex-m upstream rates should boost nicely. Annex-m trades upstream for downstream, for this application its would be well worth it. The one issue is my dsl modem/router is only a 4 port + wireless so we would need to run possibly another router or two off a couple of the ports to achieve a total number 8+ ports. Really depends how many ppls there would be as to how many routers we need. I can't see any problems running another router (4port) off one of the dsl modem ports, I haven't tried it though. Would be awesome to jump in to bf2 and kick some arse, basically cheating. lol But realistically, I doubt we would need to connect to the inet to play a decent multiplayer game, there's the free LFS to play online plus many others. I have a nice room that could be setup with tables around the sides of the room. I estimate around 8-10 ppls can fit in there depending on what I move around.
