SM Motorsport M3 Driver: Sam Markov 240 rwkw 1210kg slicks Phillip Island PIARC sprint 1st June 08 1:42.71
  2. The F430 sounds pretty shit at idle and low revs.........I should know, I see them on a daily basis....The F355 on the other hand sounds sweet. Its just a shame it doesn't go like a F430......but nothing a pair of Garrets cant fix
  3. Lot of people complaining about the R35 pricing and availability situation. C'mon...stop having a sook. If you can afford the $$$$ for a new GTR dont whinge about it. If you cant, stop sooking and either work harder or be happy for the guys that will have a new toy to play with.
  4. Now watched all of them about 10 times....classic stuff. Dont suppose you have any 1992 season footage?? Thanks for posting these links, its good to see the Grp A days again.

SM Motorsport M3 Driver: Sam Markov 240 rwkw 1210kg slicks brembos all round Eastern Creek (1st time at track , BMW club day; 04.05.2008) Lap time: 1.41.1540 (available on Natsoft)
  6. F430 Scuderia is 60 milliseconds (in race mode) as stated above.......the limiting factor is the synchros.
  7. The car is quick, but there is another E36 in the workshop that should be far more impressive. Its fully stripped, caged, big brakes, M3 GTR bodykit, etc etc.....and it will have a turbo'd Sam Markov developed engine (still the 6 cyl) somewhere in the 700hp area. Should be interesting to say the least.
  8. Time was done at a practise day. Check out this link for all the Performance Box info: http://www.racerindustries.com/store/index...products_id=613
  9. Another update on the SM Motorsport M3.....now has done 1.27.30 around Winton!!!!!! This was on new tyres and measured with a Performance Box. GTR times coming soon...................
  10. Spotted today driving back from Stanthorpe...........a bunch of normal considerate Skylines and Silvias of all models(big thumbs up guys, obviously returning from the drifting??). And.......some tool in a blue S15 with no. plate BND OVR. Prick held up trafic from Ipswich to Kessels Rd by doing the same speed(about 5-10kays under the limit) as his mate in the left lane, he was in the right lane. It took me about ten kays to get past enough people to be able to flash him with my lights to get out of the way and then he trys to drag me. Honestly mate....grow up.....anytime you want a race come and play at QR...there are plenty of track days throughout the year. Some of us like to spend the $$$ on tracktime not speeding tickets. Enough venting......thumbs up again to all the people who know to stay in the left lane unless overtaking.
  11. If it is any help to you, I run 10K front and 8K rear and I am using the full 65mm of bump travel that I have around QR, on street tyres. I also run a full weight (nothing removed) R32 GTR, so with good semis i most definitely think that 8 & 6k will be too soft for a track car. Hope that helps.
  12. Big thubs up x 2 to Paul and his team of helpers for a great day.. Man it sure was good to get back onto Lakeside...going under the bridge is sure to put a grin on anybody's face. I know i was grining like an idiot all day, still am . Lets hope its a sign of things to come.
  13. As the title says i have a set of Bilstein coil overs fitted with Eibach springs. They are for an R32 GTR and they have the circlip type height adjustment. I have had an extra groove machined in them and the tops have been modified to give approximately and extra 20mm of bump travel. They are in very good condition with no leaks, dents or any other markings aside from general wear and tear. Not sure of the exact spring rates, but judging by the way they feel i would say the fronts are approx..350lb. Reason for selling is that i upgraded to much stiffer suspension for track days. PM for photos if required and i will email them. $500.00 ono
  14. Feel free to do some research on the person doing the developments and the driving before making what are very uneducated comments. And just to clear it up.........the engine is in the M3 is rebuilt to standard (big dollar engine is on its way) except for some cams, I did say "fairly stock engine" not fairly stock car. Pretty simple to understand if you had of read it properly. Any further info...feel free to have a chat to Sam at any of the track or test days he will be attending over the year....and they are quite a few. As for the M3 vs GTR battle, I think you have forgotten that Sam owns a GTR and as i mentioned earlier, keep your eyes open for the times when it next hit the track, it will be quite a bit quicker than the Bee Em. I'm sure you are happy to hear that. By the way look up how many GTRs (or any track day cars) are running around Winton in sub31's before making such stupid little comments. I for one love GTR's but that does'nt stop me appreciating other cars or other peoples achievments. I think if you havn't already worked it out, a 29 around Winton is quite an achievement and if you ever manage to do that yourself let me be the first to congatulate you. If you cannot (or even get close to that time) perhaps you should keep your comments to yourself. One last point......this thread is about "fastest track" going GTR's, not all about $ (as you mention above) spent on cars. If I had of know this would have gone off topic so far, I wouldn't have mentioned the Beemer, which has probably cost less than some of the fastest GTR's I know of.
  15. E36 M3, 1210kg, no longer rego, stripped & cage, slicks (240f, 270r on 18"), 240rwkw(fairly stock engine except for a set of cams + SM Motorsport tune), 13 1/5" front rotors, Brembo all 'round..............any more questions???? ha ha Car should be running at the next Beemer club day in about 3 weeks.
  16. Having good drive out of a corner is great (as with a AWD car) but it is not the be all and end all. If a rear wheel drive car (with good weight distribution) has a higher corner speed than an AWD car that is considerably nose heavier it is more that capable of producing similar lap times, especially with less weight. Regardless of the previous comment, feel free to PM me if you would like any further details.......maybe this might help clear up any "misinformation". It seems to me that you are not very familiar with any of the SM motorsport vehicles I'm more than happy to share with you any information you may need.
  17. You obviously dont visit Winton very often????
  18. Just to clarify......it is an E36 M3, na 240rwkw, customers car but driven by Sam and it is probably the same car that Roy mentioned doing a 1:34 in 2006. The car has seen quite a bit of development (ie the 5 sec inprovement at Winton)by SM Motorsport and there is still a bit more to come.....as with his own GTR.
  19. The car is far from a "std GTR with bolt ons". I guess its not possible to see all of the mods and development underneath the car. Keep a lookout for the times when it next hits the track.....they should be quite an improvement on the past times. I know this is a GTR thread, but just to give the the quick Victorian GTR's some inspiration, Sam has run a 1min 29sec in a naturally aspirated M3 (about 240-250rwkw) at Winton. (This is one of his customers cars)
  20. MSPEED all the way.................oh did i mention 53seconds a Tskuba...c'mon "you can do it" The MSPEED kit is the most awesome looking 34 out there.
  21. Russels R32 That did the Time attack at Tskuba looks like it has them fitted.......I think the car is on the front cover of Autosalon Magazine.
  22. Working in a dealership with more than its ample share of exotics ( including the R8 ), all i can say is best of luck with that test drive, especially unsupervised.

42's is pretty impressive those who have seen his car would know just how impressive it is. Bloddy fast and one of the best pressented without a doubt.
  24. Sam Markov (SM Motorsport) 1.42's around the Island..............not too shabby for a bloke from the country.
  25. Got the Buddy Clubs in and they feel pretty good. Not as comfy on the road as the Bilstein/Eibach but that was to be expected. Quality is very good. Spring rates are 10k front and 8k rear, although i have had to wind quite a bit of preload into the fronts to stop bottoming out when cornering as there was only 35mm of travel(with 10mm of bump stop cut from the front). Rear is fine. Have managed to get about 50mm of bump travel into the front end and will see how it goes at QR in a couple of weeks. So far i am pleased with them, but they are most definitely not for a daily driver.
