How much do you want for the stock BOVs?

Just give it to your cheapskate mates - I've got a mate who takes all my 5000km old Mobil 1 and puts it in his 1986 Corolla Seca. We both get the reward - I get rid of my waste, he gets oil that's much fresher than what's in his car

Tyres again - Formula R's, Yoko A032R's & the like
NRB replied to whatsisname's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I use Formula R's on the mini, and've just fitted AzenisRS to the GTR. I've had a bit more experience with Azenis on my WRX and I must say the tyres are awesome, especially when you get a bit of heat into them on the track! They're the best value for money tyre around in my opinion. I paid $340 a corner for 255/40/17 Falken Azenis RS last week. -
Send vspecv (on these forums) a PM, he's got a compliance workshop and may be able to help you.

I know what you mean mate... I've only had my car on the road for 2 weeks and I've been hassled so many times already. Even bikes want a run these days. I couldn't resist temptation the other day too, had to put a bloke on a "smaller" bike in his place. I thought it was bad when I had my Rex, but having the R is definitely worse.

Tyres have cured the wawawa/whoop noise! Now I've gotta sort out th nasting grating noise coming from the gearbox. This is quite an embarrassing noise - a car as good as this shouldn't make such horrific sounds!
-
I'm with Gerds.. I was seriously considering going 20% for quartes and rear, but it's illegal to have anything less than 35% when the window can be looked out of from the driver's seat. If you're ever in an accident and the other party disputes it because "your window tint is too dark", your car will be deemed illegal and your insurance won't cover you. I'm not prepared to take the risk personally. Just weigh the risk vs benefits (looking good) carefully before going ahead. God I sound like an old fuddy duddy

Very nice. I too have moved from WRX to GT-R. I may've gone from a brand new (2 year old by the time it was stolen) to a 9 year old car, but I love my GT-R!

I've done the wheel bearings and the noise is still there. Nissan says it's tyres, so I'm getting them done tomorrow - I'll let you know how I go
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the battery is good and a fuse is blown hence not starting the motor, how will connecting jumper leads solve the problem? Surely the problem would remain. It's the battery dude
-
When a lead-acid battery is completely discharged it's unable to be recharged. SOunds to me like you need a new one. Alternator should be fine.

I didn't get home from work until after 8:30, so getting to Nando's by 8:45 was never going to happen, plus it was pissing down and I thought hardly anyone would turn up. How wrong I was So tell me, is there a meet this Friday, same 2 meet points?
-
Well, my car's now complied and registered! The wheels are still black (horrid) and the tyres are rooted (they're the source of my noise problem), but I think I'll come to the Nando's meet. I won't cruise, but I'll be at the meet in the black-wheeled beast

Ex: that was the first thing I did with no luck... took a while too with the placard all in Japanese! GTRKING: I wait with baited breath... where are you located?

PROBLEM 1 When my R32 GTR is low in the rev range, say 1500-1800rpm (in a gear that is too high for fast acceleration) and I try to accellerate, I have a grinding sound (much like metal-on-metal) that seems to be eminating from under the gearstick. As the revs pass 2000rpm, the sound disappears. I've also noticed a bit of play in the gearstick in that I can move it up and down approx 10mm. The brake pads have been changed recently, and rub against the discs at all times, but I don't think it's the source of the sound. PROBLEM 2 I have what appears to be wheel bearing noise coming from the front left. The noise isn't present when the car is moving slowly, but once road speed increases to 50-60kph the sound becomes quite loud. It's a sound that is similar to a wheel bearing on its way out, and one I can only describe as a "whoop whoop whoop" sound that increases in frequency as the speed increases. At 100kph the sound is present bu much reduced. ie. the sound is at its maximum at about 60kph. I thought it may be wheel bearing, or perhaps diff noise, so I had it on a hoist today, only to find there was no play in the wheel at all. I ran the car up to 70kph while on the hoist and the sound wasn't present at all, so it seems as though load is required. As I stated, I thought it may also be diff noise, but if I put the car in neutral and coast the sound is still present. In fact, I think the only thing that changes the noise is braking. When I brake I believe the sound is louder. Any ideas guys? I simply want to sort this car out - I've only just imported and got it registered so I want it mechanically sound! Cheers, Nick

Legend! I knew I could turn to the boys of SAU! Now if only I could sort out some other nagging problems with the damn car!

The stereo is factory and doesn't even have a band expander. (anyone got a spare they don't need? ) What do you mean by you "touched each wire until the clock came on"? I'm thinking of pulling the dash apart and checking the wires into/out of the clock to see whether any are loose... GTRKING: when you've sussed it out, please get back to me. Ta, Nick
-
My recently imported GT-R has a non-functional clock What should I check to diagnose the problem? My dash fusebox is in Japaese, so I don't know if there's a fuse in there that's blown, or whether the clock itself has died. Any ideas?

I can't help you on that one, but perhaps you can help me What's the difference between the GTS and GTR headlights?

car alarm's wat to look for wats good in brands
NRB replied to Dragon18's topic in General Automotive Discussion
After having arisen one morning to have my WRX missing from the spot I parked it the night before, security means a lot to me. I don't mind spending a few extra dollars to protect my toy. I've heard from "security experts" that if you can add a feature that will delay a thief 2 seconds, it could be the difference between a theft and an attempted theft. Add a few of these features and the thief will hopefully leave the car alone. I never want to experience that sinking feeling of realising someone has stolen your pride and joy. -

Southo, You're obviously in the security industry. Do you know when the Brant Nemesis2 with tracking is scheduled for release? Or do you know whether the Nemesis can be upgraded to include tracking? Is their system worthwhile? -

Unfortunately not shrink-wrapped, but opened. Mint condition. I'm prepared to pay a little more for an unopened box, just seeing how negotiable you are... Like I said, you being in Melbourne is also a bonus -

I'm interested in getting one but I need to know how flexible you are with price. I've got a guy trying to sell me his for $300 outside e-bay. He's in Sydney, but I'd prefer to deal with someone in Melbourne.
