As I see it:
The only ways to get the attention of Canberra is to point out to them that the cost to Police these stupid new laws is not worth the resulting benefit ...
Or
That the cost of 'loss of' local industry (importers, compliancers, brokers, performance shops) will be detrimental to the local Australian economy.
My question is : "What is the resulting benefit of these new laws ? And to whom does the benefit go ??
* Local Manufacturer ??
* Local Supply ??
* Loss of local industry (modifiers) ?
* Competition ?
* The comsumer
*NOT*
The Government ....*maybe*
It's all BS - there are also other implications that are noteworthy:
* Restriction of Trade by the G'Ment
* Anti Compeditive behaviour (on the G'Ments behalf)
Remember people - Number One rule in business " The customer is always right" - Now if we have 200,000+ potential customers in Australia, that will generate local business, then we have something significant to say
Some pundits may say that these rules will GENERATE local business - I say BS, the local performance shops will suffer because there will be many less ppl importing, therfore not as many additional mods being done. Not only that - it will be the more affluent ppl who are getting local mods done. The standard Joe Blow like you and I will not be able to:
A) Afford to import in the first place
B) Let alone afford to mod a stocker later on
All performance car clubs (inlcuding SAU) should bandit together as the weight behind the force of members is more significant in terms of leverage to these stupid rules,, than if the individuals lobbied independantly
