Hi all while my motor is apart i will also want to rebuild and hi-flow my turbo.In the past i havce used turbo torque.Has anyone done this job and what did it cost.Anyone to recommend for the job in brisbane??When i had the vl turbo done it cost $500 for rebuild and another $150 to hi flow.The turbo that will be getting the work done on is the stock turbo out of the r33 gts-t

Hi all as you probably read i snapped my exhaust cam in my r33 gts-t.It is going to charlies motors on monday to be pulled apart and inspected.I am pretty sure that one valve needs repair ,so while having the head off is there a recommendation for a good head machinist to do the repairs and some flow work.I have used Jack Bros in the past on my vl turbo and they are excellent but $$$.So if there is anyone in brissy who does this work or anyone to recommend please let me know .The work will need doing this week .Cheers

4 door skylines is an option if insurance and price is too high.If insurance is not a drama i would be looking at buying a coupe.I dont think he will have problems selling it again but resale price may be an issue.I was lucky and picked my coupe up for 15.It has 18"'s,exhaust and it had been lowered and the paint was pretty good.I looked around for a while but eventually one popped up.As for km's i think it it hard to judge an import on km's.One way to check id to look at the bolt on the crankangle sensor located on the front of the motor(silver disc).It has a silver sticker that goes accross one of the bolts.When the timing belt is done this sticker is torn off so check that out. Also check out the boot as many r33 leak through the tail lights. Other things to check for are general rust and paint work imperfections.these are the things i would look for in a car as these are what cost the most and can be frustrating saving for 1)wheels 2)exhaust 3)lowered Any skyline with these will be a head turner and will be easy to sell again.

i dont know .I guess it is just bad luck the mechanic said that he has seen a few with snapped cams.A few meaning 3 so far and he tunes skylines and works on them all the time.The person fixing the car is the guy who tunes street machines gtr which ran 10.7 at willowbank on the weekend so if there is any one to try it may as well be him.

ah but once again i have been shafted even harder.I removed the rocker cover to have a squiz and i found that the exhaust cam was snapped in two places just after lobe 1 each side of the cam retainer.Now thanks to kharma ,i will be in for a big spanking one from the repairer then closely followed by my girlfriend eeeek!

ok guess what guys i though i would check the valves out so i took off the rocker cover for the exhaust cam and.....it is snapped in two places just after the first cam lobe.so the whole head is coming off not good and not happy.

hi all i have just done a compression test and the results were as follows 1)145 psi 2)150 psi 3)145 psi 4)146 psi 5)0 no needle movement what so ever 6)150 psi What do you guys think has happened. I am thinking a valve is open in cylinder 5.When the engine cranks over you can hear a consistent noise out the exhaust like a open valve noise.But could there be a piston problem. Does anyone estimate the price of this job or has anyone had this kind of work done and what is the worst case senario

hey hey.Found the problem. After trying other computers and cas and afm and everything else .......no compression cylinder 5 So for anyone interested you can bend me over and shaft me like i have been by this car ....although it will cost you $10 as i am trying to save some money to fix it.I just hope it is a valve and not a piston:(

Hello all i am still trying to fix my car.Replaced crank angle sensor and still no work.Does anyone know the following Compression pressure Fuel pressure A way of testing the air flow meter. Any info on these topics will be a great help All these are on a r33 gtst

dont take it to a performance place.Why pay the high hourly rate for someone to do normal mechanic work.

steve i have told you once and proved it twice 13,7 with only air, boost and zorst need i say anymore??? I will crack 12 seconds in a few months and if need be tow you down the 1/4 so you can do the same!!!thats what mates are for!!!

pulled cas out keyway all ok.Timing belt did not slip as all cams line up on top dead centre.Heard from one person that it could be a bent rod.If so should the car still try to start on 5 cylinders??still looking for help car will go to APC if i cant work it out. definite fuel and spark just no start When in diagnostics checked all ok Created a fault in afm did not pick it up Created fault in cas did not pick it up Created fault in coolant temp sensor picked it up Has anyone else created a fault by pulling plug from cas or afm to see if it is picked up on fault log?? Has anyone bent a rod in their rb25det??

yeah stevo this was my initial though and cams are turning.I only just changed it and thats wot i thought it was.I tested the coil amplifier and it tested out on other car as all good.I am concerned it is the crank angle sensor.Any one know the symptoms of crank angle sensor faulty?Is there something mechanical that can break in them?Why wont the car start with spark and fuel??could the timing be out due to afm or crank angle sensor fault??PLEASE HELP

hello all. I was driving conservatively whenh my car just stopped.There was a slight noise but i am putting it down to normal engine,gearbox and diff noise when you turn the car off and still rolling.There was a noise like a stone hitting in the front of the car and then it just stopped.I pulled over and towed home. this is what i have found: 1)diagnosis reveiled nothing it flashed 55 (all normal) 2)no blown fuses 3)fuel pump works and there is fuel getting to the cylinder(fuel vapour when removing plugs) 4)there is spark although not sure if it is strong enough. 5)engine ust kicks over and over but not firing up 6)used diffrent spark plugs and the old set i tryied had worse spark 7)all coils tested ok(resistance test) 8)I am a little concerned about black box(spark plug amplifier or ignitor) as i am getting no circuit from one side to the other although i dont know if this is normal. 9)i have a safc installed although i doubt it has anything to do with it as i have checked all conections and all are good Is there any other diagnostic procedure i can follow or does anyone have any technical advice PLEASE HELP SOS

what is an accurate and reliable guage i can buy for monitoring a/fuel ratios.I know that a programmable ems with hand controller would be best but are there any units available that could be used for self tuning purposes

hello all ..A few weeks ago a member from this forum helped me with some settings for my safc...once again thanks mate you know who you are..But i would like to know what settings other people are running to help optimise the settings i already have thanks. mods:3" xhaust,filter ,10/11 psi. fairly basic mods ANy input would be appreciated

the reason the camera went off on the freeway was because coppers have to do a ruitine test flash for the cameras.They usually flash them at cars as their bit of fun,you know what they say though simple things amuse simple minds.I know this cos it happened to me at mt tamborine we went past a camera and we were going slow cos it was so obvious then at about 80 metres past it we nailed it like you normally would just to stir the wankers.Then along the way back down we went past at 40km/h and we were laughing at him and the flash went off...this pissed me off so i went to the local station and asked what was the story and he then explained it to me.so if it happens again i would do this....i would go to the nearest servo and buy some eggs then i would park a distance away and sneek up on him and egg him.Then i would have a chuckle and do it again 1 or 2 hours later just to make his night more exciting.
