Audi RS4's drive a bit better than Stags. . . . but the price reflects it too. . . -
Do you happen to know the make and model number. . . the Kiwi ones look good for $300'ish. .. . but local is better if I can. . got any pics of yours. . . Jules

Hey, Went to roof rack world on the pacific highway looking for a roof rack......after I explained what the car was. . . they looked at the fitting space under the black cap. Saw the bracket and bolt points and said No. Clearly they can have roof racks so does anyone know a model and name of one that fits in with little or no hassle. Getting a tow bar just for MTB is to costly and the roof racks are a better option for me. . Thanks Jules

Advantage of a Wagon reverse it to the screen, open hatch layback and enjoy the movie. . in comfort. . . like the old days with Mum & Dad.... -
Yes the R1R are the next tyre up. . . . . I took the advice of the tyre guy and went the proxes 4, he said unless you are going to be driving hard a lot of the time the Proxes4 are actually better. Also the R1R will wear a lot quicker too... Jules

Stock AXIS 18" . . . . .

Hello, Just a post to let anyone interested know about the Proxes 4. I was suggested to try these tyres so I bought a set, went from 225/45/18 and upgraded to 245/40/18, and have noticed a huge difference. I have noticed the feel through the steering is different. . . you can certainly feel the extra 4cm on the road. Being new I tried a few hard and fast corners and was very impressed. . very impressed. . even better that my previous number 1 preferred tyre the Dunlop W10. They are a good price for those that need a 97+ load indexed tyre, $270 each Jules

Yeah I spoke to Herman at Envy Imports. . . they do a small basic one for around a grand, then the $2k one and the $3500 one. They didnt have any figures to show regarding improvements etc. . so I didnt get one but happy to review once some real stats are available. Was told to expect at least 10% gains in power fuel economy etc etc. . .but I am a "Must see figures" man or someone swears by it motto. . -
Hello All, Well my mate was going to give me an Apexi Power FC but after checking the site it is clear that they are not too compatible for Stags. He just imported an Evo FQ320 the greedy bugger. . . http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/docs/...powerfc-faq.htm So my question to you learned Turbophiles is: What other complete units are there for the M35 that I can get. . Guess what I saw this morning . . . . . No it was not a Silver Unicorn....LOL A Gold Stagea ARX. . . .yeah so what you say but guess what it had on it. . . It had a BMW badge on the front Grill. . . . What the Fark. . . I guess it would seem funny to the owner and it is a bit. . . . Maybe we should start confusing people by putting Volvo badges on. he he he he "For sale, 2002 Volvo Stagea 4WD Turbo. . Best Vovlo made to date" -
Well I couldn't honestly say it is my last car... my progression of cars is as can be expected: 1974 Torana Mazda 929 - Yes yes girls car but never ever broke down. . 95 Lancer GSR X-trail Tommi Makinen Evo 6.5 AXIS Stagea But reckon I will be keeping the wagon longer, mainly due to the car being so bloody practical and fun to drive. I only aim to own a few further cars to complete my want list: 2001 Audi RS4 Avant - Surprisingly affordable now and power to boot 2005 Evo 8 FQ-400 - which is do-able as you can import an Evo 8, just need to find one for sale, trust me I am looking R35 GTR some time in the future But stag is here to stay for some years to come
-
I own a M35 Stagea and looked after a Legnum for 12 months whilst my mate was in Iraq. . . My 2 cents worth is go M35........ Legnum is quicker on the spool etc. . . but more room and features for M35.... But choice is yours of course...

Yeah my mate did the selling your car trick..... advertised my TME Evo for $20k due to divorce. . . needless to say I got heaps and heaps of calls.... To get him back I signed him up to lots and lots and lots of Porn sites....and each porn site actually sends your sign up to other porn sites...... Needless to say he got rather jack of receiving 200 - 300 emails a day, the pearler is he has to unsubscribe to all of them one by one. . . . just a thought....
-
Haven't had one in a few years.... Oh you mean car talk...
-
Couldn't agree more, went to assist a mate and also my sister in getting a second hand car. . . . and like snakes from the grass they slither out to see if they can help. . . Yep they also fire off the first salvo of "We can do a great price on that, say $1k off" and that is even before you have touched the thing. . . Was just looking and yes looking at a R34 GTR as it just happened to be there. . . . mate if you take it today I will knock off what ever your first years insurance is. . .sorry just looking, mind you $63k is not bad for R34 GTR Buyers market. . .just tough for private sales. .
-
Cool will look at Federals... Yeah my speedo is currently 5-8 k's slow by GPS. . so the new tyres wont be too bad then if they are a bit faster. . .

Hello, Thanks guys....sorted out stock size on the AXIS it is 225/45/18, the 235/50/18 is the recommended size for ARX's. So now that I know correct size it appears that the following are the best option in order of least diameter difference in from stock 1. 245/40/18 - 1% 2. 235/45/18 - 1.3% 3. 235/40/18 - 2.2% 4. 245/45/18 - 2.6% Now lets see if I can get some nice 245/40/18 's . . .Happy that all sizes come in under the recommended 3% variance Jules

Ok I may of sorted it out but only if I know what was normal for the car...how do I find out what was meant to be on the car. . . . Someone please tell me how I can find out what it was meant to be....please... Base Tyre V's Proposed tyre, with Speedo at 100k/h 235/50/18 V's 235/40/18 = 107k/h 7.2% too fast 6.79% difference 235/50/18 V's 225/45/18 = 104k/h 4.9% fast, 4.7 % difference 225/45/18 V's 235/40/18 = 102k/h, 2.2% fast 225/45/18 V's 235/50/18 = 95.3k/h, 4.7% too slow The web I got the calculator from was http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculato...t&reset=yes

I found this just then. . .Assuming current tyre is correct Stock Tire - 225/45R18 >Search Tires Section Width: 8.85 in 225 mm Rim Diameter: 18 in 457.2 mm Rim Width Range: 7 - 8.5 in Overall Diameter: 25.97 in 659.63 mm Sidewall Height: 3.98 in 101.09 mm Radius: 12.98 in 329.69 mm Circumference: 81.58 in 2072.1 mm Revs per Mile: 800.9 Proposed Tire - 235/40R18 >Search Tires Section Width: 9.25 in 235 mm Rim Diameter: 18 in 457.2 mm Rim Width Range: 8 - 9.5 in Overall Diameter: 25.40 in 645.16 mm Sidewall Height: 3.70 in 93.98 mm Radius: 12.70 in 322.58 mm Circumference: 79.79 in 2026.6 mm Revs per Mile: 818.8 Says speedo will be 2.234% fast

Hello Stagosauruses, Time is upon me to replace my tyres on my M35 AXIS. . not an overly difficult process I would assume except it has 225/45/18 Tyres on it. I found out they are far from common as they are one of the skinniest 18" tyre. Also the camber of the rear has worn the insides of the rear tyres terribly. Been told the best option is to get one of the most common performance (Holden/Ford) tyre being the 235/40/18 as it has a very similar "Rolling Diameter", yes the tyres are easy to get and somewhat cheaper. Me doing the usual due diligence checked the tyre card on the door (Post compliance one) and it suggested: 235/50/R18 7 1/2 JJ 18 Load Index - 97 Speed Cat "H" or 210k/h So my questions for my learned friends are: 1. Can/should I use the suggested 235/40/18 2. Can you change the camber on the rear, I am thinking NO 3. The 235/50/18 appears to be going too high a profile for my liking. . . 4. Any other suggestions would be most welcome Jules
