  1. Massive thanks to Steve-O for the past year! We've had (and are continuing to have) a massive year, and it's awesome to be part of such an incredible club with so many different ways to enjoy our cars and the company of their owners, due to the work you've put in over the years. Also, as already mentioned, a huge thanks too to Steven (DR-D00F), our outgoing VP, who has chosen to retire his role due to work commitments, but yet still works his butt off behind the scenes whenever he has a spare moment.
  2. This is kinda what I have in mind, but with simple but unmistakable line drawings of the whole series. I'll be investigating costings of zip-up and pull-over styles.
  3. Absolutely correct! I recently bought a 17-55mm f/2.8, and although it only gives me 1mm more "width," the quality (and weight) is so much higher, and the fact that it's a constant f/2.8 is awesome! I read a lot about it when I was looking for a new lens, and many people stated that it's basically almost an L-series lens, but without the weather sealing and red ring. BTW, depending on your budget, there's also 3 different 17-50mm lenses (one from Sigma and two from Tamron) that are a constant f/2.8 http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/category697_1.htm
  4. Hey people, Terry (one of the Execs for SAU-NSW) has put on a few excellent events in the past, including cruises for the 10th Anniversary of the R34 and 21st Anniversary of the R32, amongst quite a bit of other stuff. Previous events have included media coverage on Motive DVD and in PI (or HPI or whatever it is now) magazine, as well as a few articles in the motoring sections of Sydney newspapers. Basically Terry and myself would like to know how many people would be interested in having an event for the 15th Anniversary of the Stagea. It will be NSW-based, but everyone who can make it will be more than welcome to come along. So, throw some ideas around and we'll see if we can get the ball rolling!
  5. http://rekit.deviantart.com/journal/40856217/ Remember discussing HDR images the other night???
  6. John, upload your photos to Photobucket or Flickr or some other photo hosting website (even Photoshop has their own service), and then link them here. Brian, as Kory said, that spot is gonna be hard for setting up any cars there. Link: Mrs Macquarie's Chair
  7. That looks really, really good! That would look pretty factory to prying eyes, which is what I love the most about it.
  8. My fingers finally defrosted about halfway home! Screw what they look like, I'm buying some gloves soon.
  9. Spotted three last night, all M35's. White one on Victoria Road in West Ryde, around 6pm, wine red one in the city around Macquarie Street, then another wine red one (unless it was the same car again) doing a u-turn at the very end of Lower Fort Street in Circular Quay right near the pylons of the Harbour Bridge.
  10. Boys, car pooling is best - the location isn't an easy walk away... And we might cruise to a few locations yet too.
  11. Oh, and Vivid festival starts tonight in Circular Quay.
  12. Agreed with Matt, there's some awesome shots in there Serg. My favourites are the ones of the black Evo X and the orange 911 that's crossed up.
  13. Spotted a silver R33 (plates GOD21A) parked at the Super Centre (or whatever it's called) in Castle Hill this arvo - typically when I see another SAU member I was in my parent's car and not the LOLvo.

    Wheels

Damn you Dave, why for they fit your car and not mine???
  15. LOL, highly unlikely it was me - I suck at mornings... Oh, and I'm still waiting for the rear brakes before I do my brake conversion (R33 GTSt/ R32 GT-R units)
  16. Oh yeah, the location sucks because you've got a mixture of ambient light coming in thru the ceiling panels and the flourescent lights too, and all the poles and trees don't help either. It's hard to get a shot without one of the steel poles sticking out of the roof of a car. And thanks man, I tried to find some of the little details that made each car that little bit special.
  17. The Club VeeDub Nationals were on yesterday, and since one of my best friends and his whole family are a bunch of VW nutters, I went down there to hang out and take some photos... The venue was Fairfield Showgrounds - the same venue that they've used for many years, and the venue we used for the last SAU-NSW Show 'n' Shine. Porsche flat-6 being installed in a VW Kombi: This thing was awesome, check out the headlights, spotties and LED blinkers: Stickered-up to cover crash damage: Have a look at the inside of the (damaged) headlight - notice the VW symbol?
  18. And Terry, I wasn't lying:
  19. Please do a search. Darrin himself has a very extensive thread on the process of his conversion.
  20. This is win! This is almost win... These plates are soon to be available for rent if you want photos of your car: Unfortunately, 18x9.5's with a +15mm offset do not work - otherwise I would have bought these wheels. They stuck out about 1.5" at the rim, and about 0.5" at the tyre. I'm not a fan of the stretched-tyre look either, so no go for me.
  21. LOL, Terry, the front is where the engine is!
  22. Bah, stoopid me - I've got quite a bit going on this weekend so I assumed this was tonight too... In that case, I might see if my friend has recovered enough from the flu so we can shoot his bike, Porsche and Typhoon. Oh, and there's the VW Nationals on this Sunday at Fairfield. Who wants to meets for either of these?
  23. Is the meet on tomorrow???
  24. I've ordered 8 tickets for it, and they're free.
