  1. You will find that increasing your FSB to OC your CPU won't affect your temps by much, its when you increase the voltages (to sustain stability for a higher OC) thats when you start getting significant temp increases. Are you using the motherboard's auto OC feature thats like all you gotta do is increase the FSB or are you setting all the parameters by urself? Coz if you are using the auto feature, most motherboard will "play it safe" & also up the voltage & several other parameters as soon as it detects increased FSB, if you do all the parameters urself you can probably overclock it to 3.4 - 3.6Ghz on stock voltages. & no continuos use of the stepping & loading won't damage your CPU, its want its designed to do. EDIT: Just skimmed this thread from the beginning & remembered that you got this DS3, similar board to mine (DS3-P) & if you OCed it just by increasing the FSB & left the other parameters to auto, then the mobo have most probably also increased the various voltages, so thats probably why your temp is a bit high. When you up the FSB, on the intel chipset mobos, your RAM speed will still go up if you leave the mobo on auto mode, this is done in order to keep the FSB:DRAM ratio. You can unOC the ram by changing this ratio. Last time I checked only the high end Nvidia chipset mobos (680, 780, 790s) have a feature that can "unlink" the ram from the system FSB. As with the video card, increasing the FSB won't affect the cards clock speed or Ram speed, however if you leave the PCI-E clock to "auto" then it MAY get upped, this should be aovided at all cost (by manually setting this parameter to 100mhz) as an increased PCI-E clock is know to cause all sorts of problems with various video cards.
  2. Both series 1 & 2 have the light, but when it comes on, more or likely your fuel needle is at the base (or below) the E. Well for my car at least...
  3. My mistake, man I need new glasses... again...
  4. Thats just plain disturbing... Put that c*nt in the same cage as a full grown tiger, bear or just a large police dog then we see how tough he is... Probably sh*t himself 10 times before gets eaten... for good.
  5. I was more concerned with the fact that his break lights weren't working, thats hell dangerous even in broad day light.
  6. Car make/type/model : Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T Series 1 Year : 1993 Overall condition of car: 7/10 (Just got it back ~1.5 month ago from panel shop, all panels fixed) How is the car treated: 1/10 to 4/10 (99% granny driving, my turbo has yet to hit full 7psi boost yet... most of the time it never even hit boost at all ) Maintenance level: 3/10 (Just got major 100k service done, & I get it serviced by the local mech every ~5k, & if something minor breaks, I'll try & fix it or get it fixed by my local mech.) Modifications: Mostly Stock, only mods are CAT, Steering wheel, some cheapo rims & a bunch of random stickers/badges Insurance: 3rd party Estimated power: Never got tested (estimated ~130kw for a stock car?) Estimated $ spent per year to maintain: no idea per year, ~$400 to $500 per month, I'm guessing.
  7. Firefox 3 on main com with that plugin that allows you to rip videos off you tube IE7 on my laptop, couldn't be bothered to change. +1 for the SAU cod4 clan thing.
  8. Is there a re-airing or gonna get uploaded to youtube? I missed it, tv-tuner for my laptop went belly up on me
  9. Man I know the feeling, with all the horror stories I've heard I get stressed & would end up sweeting like a pig in fear the minute I see a cop car near me, so far my stock car is doing a pretty good job of blending in with the surrounding commo, falcon & camrys that the cops don't seem to notice me much at all Once I had a cop walk onto the road, showed his badge & pulled up the riced lancer next to me (for a defect check I'm guessing, since both of us weren't speeding), while the other cop with the speed gun, saw me slowing down as well (since that cop walked on my lane 1st), giving me the hand signal to hurry up & be gone... by the end off it I was sweeting like a pig, coz my car was missing a water cap for the window washer & I have heard people getting defected for that...
  10. Me & my dad did the usual donkey... but my mum managed to finish work early & voted Libs, we were both
  11. I'm on 3rd party as well, was ~$300 with for basic or ~$550 for added fire + theft. Although my excess is $1.8k. This is with just car, for a fully stock R33 (besides CAT & rims) & I have a clean driving record, no fines yet. The previous owner said that it was ~$1.5k for her to get full comp. so I would guess that it would probably be ~$1.8k to $2k for me, seeing how females gets it cheaper... Besides the cosmetics, the series 2s have a better turbo, abs as standard & front airbags I think... About the 32 vs 33, 32s are lighter than 33s... & you'll find that most 32 fanboys' main criticism of the 33 is that it looks like a fat boat... yata yata yata... lol & most will say buy a 32 & put a rb25 in it...
  12. I bought my R33 (its a series 1 though) near the end of last year, for $10k, I get around 13-14L/100km thats mainly city driving. & though this time of owning the car, I have never had any engine problems with the car, just did my 100k serivce last month & it looks the engine is still going strong. BTW I'm 21 & a full time student atm aswell
  13. Thanks for the help guys So my car is running normal, thats good news... I was just wondering as it was acting different compared to the other auto cars I have driven (guess I could call their auto box "dumb boxes" lol) btw nice car ~R33AzzA~, might get that shift kit once I have enough money lol.
  14. Hey guys, For all your people here who have (or have driven) an auto skyline before, at what speed do the auto transmission change the gears (in normal mode, not in power or snow mode)? With my 2 other cars (that I have driven when on my Ls), my mum's old Commo VN changes to 2nd @ ~25km/h then to 3rd @~55km/h & you have to manually change to Overdrive (shift the knob to "blue D") @ 80km/h (what the instruction manual says). With the Camry the gear changes occurs at ~20, 40 & 60. However with my current R33, gear changes to 2nd when around 25km/h, however if I keep my foot down (not flooring it,) it won't change to 3rd until I hit 65km/h & I have no idea what speed it will change to 4th "normally" (I drove from 60 to 100 & it was still on 3rd) I can "fix" the gear change problem by getting up to a certain "minimum" required speed & letting go off the accelerator, then the car will change to the next gear (I have found the "minimum" required speed for 3rd to be ~45km/h & 4th to be ~65km/h). For example I drive off from the lights, it changes gear to 2nd @ ~25km/h then as I hit past 45km/h I let go off the accelerator, it will change to 3rd, foot back on accelerator & I have to repeat this for it to get to 4th when I hit 65km/h. Anyone have any idea on whats up with my transmission? Btw this was all in normal mode & driving like a granny style. Thanks
  15. Mac fanboys Red flag Linux FTW
  16. WRGMGs? Car related... Mid aged house wife drivers... If the general public has a hatred towards P-Platers then I have a personal hatred towards them... seems like they are always there to f*ck me up. Just today, while coming back from Curtin, while I was approaching a 2 -> 1 lane merge section, I was in the right lane near the blind spot of a 4wd that was on the left lane. As we were approaching the merge section, I eased of the gas to put a little distance between my car & his, this created a little gap between the 2 cars and as we came to the merge section, and then some bloody house wife driver in her lancer tried to speed past me to squeeze in front... this was when the 2 lanes have already began merging as one!!! And I had to steer towards the outside (causing my car to go outside the lane) to clear enough space. And what really pissed me off was that, instead of putting her foot down & just squeezing through, she chickened off like on the 1/2 way point & eased off the gas (while my car was still slightly in front) probably finally realized that she can't bloody get through when the 2 lanes have almost merged, when I noticed this, I just floored it a bit & got in front. & she bloody horned me! F*ck u, mid aged bi*ch, F*ck u! Just the other day in the city, again some mid aged housewife is bloody trying to do a U turn at a traffic light (thought this was not allowed... unless its got that U turn allowed sign) & holding up the entire traffic since there were cars turning left on the right side. Everyone had to wait for the next set of green arrows coz of her... bloody bi*ch Non car related: People at Uni, when you work with them for labs & stuff, you finish what is required & get a 1/2 decent enough mark, but they bloody complain & whinge about it not being "good enough" or "we didn't challenge ourself enough"... hey I'm bloody just trying to get a decent 60% or so pass here, not attempting to get any kind of Nobel award of science or something... maybe you are but I'm NOT! /end rant/ Man this thread is great for letting off steam , now all that is cleared off my mind, think I'll play some COD-4
  17. Dam... this is nothing like what the computer simulation results tell me... <Goes back to drawing board>
  18. But if they made the test hard like that, then most people will fail & probably never get their drivers license. Now the government isn't afraid of us young people complaning, coz we can't really do sh*t about it... But whole bunch of mid aged housewives complaining, nagging & posting stories to ACA & TT is another story... Something the government probably don't want to see so they avoid it all together & make more laws to screw us up...
  19. Glad I got that done, dam laws can't touch me now . Also is the car registered under my name the minute I pay that transfer fee (I did it at a post office) or do I have to wait for them to sent back some kind of receipt? Also is there a website for me to check, can't seem to find it on the license center site... Humans have being screwing with natural selection for a long time... think about it, every time someone has a serious illness, most of the time they can be successfully treated & recovers from hospital, but if its up to natural selection, they would mostly be dead. +1 Can't they just fake the stats? Isn't it what governments are best at?
  20. The car is all fixed up now , this happened about 4 month ago, and that dude's insurance company has agreed to pay for the cost. I didn't get my after market bar (oh well you can't have everything), they used a 2nd hand stock bar, repainted & fitted that, but it looks pretty good, car looks new again Cost was $4kish to fix all that damage, glad I didn't have to pay a cent
  21. Same here, never thought I was invincible, in fact quite the opposite = I'm very weak & break easily. Ever since in China a simple sickness (like a cold or flu) would ALWAYS cause me to get sick for well over 2weeks (usually close to a month), while everyone else seem to get over it in a couple of days. Back to topic, my mistake was that I assumed that everyone else on the road knows & follows the basic road rules... (I.E. GIVE WAY TO THE CARS ON THE MAIN ROAD!!! ) Well this dude in the REV4 apparently didn't know & the result is: EDIT: lesson learn t from that is to treat everyone on a road as a potential treat.
  22. ^^^ My vehicle excess is $750 as well, which gives a total excess of $1800 ($450+$750+$600) & JC got my policy screwed up as well, they added the theft excess ($500), even though I only applied for basic 3rd party. Took them like 6 month to realize it & only just got it changed correctly today. Hopefully my premium goes down a bit next year, but not keeping up high hopes for it...
