  1. Yeah that was the impression i was getting, i think i will go the RB25. thanks Mr RB20
  2. Yeah they do with the king springs, i would run either a taller or stiffer spring. i found the fronts would bottom out with big hits, the shocks themselves felt awesome with the standard springs, but being the idiot i am, i wanted to drop it damn low, and ended up needing coil-overs to do that, i got Teins and they are no where nere as nice a ride hehe... but it looks good damn low
  3. Hey guys, need some quick advice here. whats the difference between a VG30DET turbo and the RB25 turbo? which is better to bolt to an RB20? There is a guy selling the VG30 turbo at around $350 are they as good as an RB25 turbo, because all the RB25 turbos i see for sale are alot more expensive.
  4. ok, well i got the measure tape out, put the rears back in to measure and the centre of rim to guard distance is 320mm. Thats with the king spring on the highest setting, each setting drops exactly 10mm and there are 4 settings to go lower. i was just estimating earlier. sorry about that.
  5. hey price is about $19.50ea I dont know what u should gap them too. i know for turbo RB engines its 0.8mm but on the packet the iridiums say not to change the gap because the tips are very fine and fragile. I gapped them to 0.8 anyway and they have been pretty good.
  6. Well my dad's GTR had problems with the platinum plugs fouling at anything over 1.2bar. we fitted the iridiums and they made a massive difference. much smoother and no probs at high boost. im going to get them for my GTS. i dont know if it would make a huge diff on a low powered car like mine. but it made a big difference with his.
  7. Has anyone out there fitted one of the HKS actuators to their standard RB20/25 turbo? How would you rate it? would they be a little more responsive or safer than a bleed valve? do they allow adjustment of boost, or do they come with a set psi spring tension? I know myself and a few others have had problems with the gate staying open when shifting with a bleed type set up.
  8. well i was told that they do tend to break at anything more than 14psi. ive been running my standard turbo at 16psi for over a year now and havent had any probs, it spikes at 1.1bar - 1.2bar (i think thats about 17psi) and drops a little. i havent had it on the track yet, because im scared it may break... so be careful at what u do set it at. i dunno if ive just been lucky or whether its ok to run that boost. i am however plannig to uprgade to an RB25 turbo soon.
  9. I had the same problem with the turbosmart valve when i had it wound all the way down (to make standard boost) i found after i gave it a few clicks to the + positive it would close the gate properly. ive had a few funny problems with that valve, i ended up drilling out the tiny hole inside filling it and then re-drilling the hole diameter. it seems to be ok now, although i cant run anything less than 14psi.
  10. Damn nice time! what sort of engine management mods have you got? ie complete aftermarket? and does 290bhp require bigger injectors, fuel pump, reg. etc? because thats the sort of power im aiming for and hopefully with an RB25 turbo... am i dreaming with that turbo?
  11. Hey it costs about $950 to high flow the standard turbo, but it hits full boost about 1000rpm later than standard. the steel wheels can take higher boost but its a slower response. If the std turbo makes 200rwkw with 1.5bar and and the vg30 makes the same power with less boost it is probably much better for your engine (cooler, more dense air). Ive been reading about the advantages of fitting an RB25 turbo to the RB20 with pretty awesome results running 1bar. im about to stick one on mine. ill let you know how it goes.
  12. Is it really necessary to fit a metal headgasket to run 19psi? I have read that if the car is tuned correctly you should be able to run that sort of boost with the standard gasket. I was just wondering because i was planning to run about 19psi with a standard headgasket... anyone done it before? btw i think those highflowed RB20 turbos can flow up to 220rwkw.
  13. Yeah i have two friends with a high flowed RB20 turbo. one of them has the exact same, filter, exaust and cooler as me. however i have the standard turbo. on the dyno i actually made 222hp at the treads and his only 203hp. apparently we both had the same timing set up too. mine did come on full bost about 1000rpm before his(4000+rpm). so im thinking i will steer clear of the high flow. I am becoming more interested in the HKS 2530, like a few of you are saying ive read of cars pulling over 1bar at around 3500rpm. I guess the real question is - How much would a second hand one cost and if they are as good as everyone seems to say, how hard is it to get your hands on one?
  14. haha nah i can make it chirp if i really try, the prob is this "cough" that makes the car really lag. ive driven a few other 32 GTS-Ts and they dont seem to have the same problem.
  15. Hey I was wondering if anyone has had anyproblems with their BOV causing lag between shifts. I know that an atmo venting BOV can cause stalling probs with a standard ECU (which i have). but it seems that whenever i shift i tend to have a lagging "cough" almost a small jolt before it comes back on boost. i have had drags at the lights with other guys with similar setups to me, but they can get the wheels to screach between each shift (yet i know for a fact mine has more hp), mine simply wont do it because of this "cough". Any ideas on what this is? could it be BOV? or something else?
  16. well im a little dissapointed. went out to buy myself an RB25 turbo today and SSS asked for $1,000! thats for a 2nd hand one too! i know i can get my RB20 turbo high-flowed for that price and that means steel wheels... does anyone have a cheap RB25 turbo out there for sale? and do you think it would be worth getting the std turbo highflowed? which would be better? i figure that the high flowed option would allow a higher boost setting as the wheels wont fall apart (but i might be sacraficing low down power as the steel wont spool up as quick) , but would it flow as much or less than the RB25 turbo?
