that's not the 1st time John's made the record books.....that same car held a drag racing record for a very long time as well. I'm not sure but it still might hold that record.....hopefully Johnny sees this and can respond

Incredible likeness.......if only a snickers could solve the world's problems

careful chaps...don't like where this may lead. These threads are always dangerous even with the best of intentions. Nothing untowards spoken yet but best to nip it in the bud before the big boss comes in here and belts us all with his much bigger stick

Pretty sure if you did your research bud you'd find that your insurance wouldn't cover any accidents if you're using your ride as a business venture. Goodluck with it though......lotta cash to throw away if someone writes it off for you

My 94 R32 Gt-R Build Diary
SLED replied to Tyranus's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Has anyone read a single thing that I posted? Again I'll say it.....read the forum rules.....everything you say in here is merely heresay and therefore anything you say about the seller is Slander! Say and do whatever you like on the internet but not in here.....if you don't like what I'm saying, feel free to complain to the owner who put the rules in place. My job is not to protect anyone in here other than enforce the rules that are in place. This is a final warning....anyone that choses to continue down this path is going to get a nice long holiday from this place. EDIT: ......and this thread will be shut down as well. -

Firstly, how the hell do you balance a block.......no such thing! Secondly, I would seriously take "Barricade's" advice and maybe refresh yourself with the rules of this forum. This is a build thread not a Slander thread! You've provided no evidence of any written material suggesting what the engine had done to it and likewise no evidence in writing to suggest what it didn't have and how do we know that you haven't ditched the items that were supposed to be in the engine (i.e. post #20 re HKS Cams)............therefore everything said in here is merely heresay. Take this up with the seller privately but keep it out of here and if he doen't repond to you, that is not this site's problem......on that note though, have you heard the term "caveat emptor"? You purchased from a private buyer and therefore it was your responsibility to have the car checked out before you purchased it.....private sales do not cater for warrant or guarantees! I'm going to say this once, cease the slagging or face a ban from this place....and that goes for anyone else that wants to keep going down this road. -
This looks good Luke....Habib & Rocky from Fat Pizza are in it. Me and the missus are checking this one out Sat night with Shane & Co http://www.adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix/the-good-the-bad-and-the-ethnic/fc9f7e75-07ba-4784-b3d7-be563fdf5a17

would embarrass a few GTR's too..

Settle down guys. Unfortunately everything said in this thread is merely heresay....so it counts for nothing really because I'm sure the other party will always have their version of events. For this very reason I think this thread is useless and I'm contemplating shutting it down.

yeah good point Mark.....all fixed

LOL stranger....Happy New Year bud

No probs Troy, just RAA approved is fine. Wanted to get in early before anyone did say something silly in here. Don't care what anyone says outside of these forums.....feel free to name names all you like.....at least then, the owner of this forum won't face any possible civil liabilities. Having said that, can't gaurantee that the revealer of that business won't though. Everyone needs to remember that without trial, judgement and an outcome, EVERYTHING you say about a business (good or bad) is heresay......and subject to further scrutiny (even by business lawyers). Best just to follow forum rules and not take any chances re lawsuits. Happy New Year bud

Just gonna jump in here real quick to remind peeps that no names of businesses can be mentioned here. Not even hints that can give away identifying info will be tolerated.
-
No probs
-
Ash you asked whether you could name and shame a business in a previous thread and Steve kindly informed you that it's against forum rules...yet you chose to do so anyway. The only reason you don't get a holiday from here is because it's the Festive season but consider this a friendly warning.

Terrible news. Tangles is a perfect example of someone turning their lives around 180 deg....it's never too late.

If he was a private seller, he could advertise his own bits in the "For Sale" section only....but as he isn't, he can't unfortunately...sorry.

Building 3 Litre Gtr , Piston Are 30 Thou Out Block
SLED replied to Gtr3.0l's topic in South Australia
def a solution Dale bit who makes a piston with a lower pin height? regardless, he also needs to consider how much has been taken off the head's surface now that he's running a larger valve which all adds to valve protrusion...not to mention that by bringing cams closer to the crank you also have valve timing issues that you need to sort out...but shouldn't be too much of an issue with adj gears. I'd still want to know how much material has been removed for peace of mind -
Sorry bud, had to remove your initial post.......please read the rules re advertising before posting again. You need to subscribe to these forums by way of annual fee in order to advertise....good luck with the business.

Building 3 Litre Gtr , Piston Are 30 Thou Out Block
SLED replied to Gtr3.0l's topic in South Australia
how do you shorten conrods without cutting them in half. you could machine the mating surfaces of rod and cap then line bore to get the correct diameter again...but then you would have to re-cut the brg tangs followed by balancing them again. Sounds like a pretty expensive option not to mention it would weaken the rods But I like your thinking though Only way around this one is to find out how much metal has been removed in total then replace it with something of similar thickness over and above a standard head gasket thickness. If the machinist has no recollection of how much material was removed, you'll have to measure (accurately) the overall thickness of the head and block....only an engine reconditioner will have outside mic's or calipers that size. Good luck with it -
Building 3 Litre Gtr , Piston Are 30 Thou Out Block
SLED replied to Gtr3.0l's topic in South Australia
how much was shaved from the head and block...surely anyone reputable would've measureed the amount removed? You mentioned larger valves which even if a thicker head gasket resolved the .75mm (.030") piston protrusion, you'll still have to factor in the amount of valve lift......did you also increase cam lobe lift......even if you didn't, a larger valve head will travel further out of its chamber because of its angle. There are way too many factors to consider and everything should've been planned together before removing any metal, anywhere....did the machinist have some sort of plan in mind before going nuts on a surface grinder? Abe's example won't help you...he has .25mm protrusion and more than likely standard size valves.....not sure if he's running more lift though. PS: I wouldn't go maching piston tops unless you like flirting with death....especially in motors that are renown for smashing already very weak top lands....worse comes to worse, you may have to get a de-comp plate made.
