  1. I find this to be true also... and the ONLY thing worse than a cheap and crappy install is cheap and crappy neons - if they are so dull you can only see them when parked in the dark, why bother?
  2. oh, and forgot to mention, NOTHING beats this for the ultimate head turner paint job (im sure most of you have seen it before, but its worth a mention)
  3. im with cerealkiller here - a good, deep 2-pack job wins me over anytime... candy look paint is nice too. And stripes have there place, just not an everyday car - looks sweet on that 34 though :cooldance:
  4. certainly no "compensation" going on there.... more seriously, ho DO you get around the paint chipping? doesn't the plastic flex too much?
  5. when mine were... um - inspected, nothing was said about the colour, just no flashing, and make sure the globe can't be seen. Ive tried driving around with all three colours at one time or another, and so far no sticker ! so im guesing they're ok... also ref. this thread... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=38868 hope this clears things up Phil
  6. I must say im with RevHead on this... lkearning the basics is really important. Both mechanically and Driving Skills. Having spent my early years living on a farm, and been around vehicles all my life, and driving since i could see over the wheel (and not always reach the pedals) i would say for 20 i was a competent driver. I still bought a NA skyline first because there is *no way* a young person (or old person, for that matter) can possibly think they can handle a 200rwKw car with no experience between that and their clapped out _insert POS here_. You guys out there with track experince, of course, are in a different group, so please ignore this gross generalisation.... Haro Makes a Very good point (jk) back on topic.... I too am frequently dissapointed by one skyline driver in my area (the guy with the maroon '33 GTST, you know who you are.... ) Most of the other guys (and girl) are great, always have a wave, not in a rush to prove themselves, just happy with THEIR car, and out for a drive - like most of us, i imagine however, for 10 of us, thers always one.... he very nearly killed an old couple when he thought it would be a funny thing to *FLY* past me while stopped at a cross-walk ! A F&*#$G CROSSWALK FOR F#$K SAKE !!! What is wrong with these people ?!?! oh well, thats my $4.82c for the evening, sorry for the slight hijack there Toby19... Glad someone else started this thread... great for venting frustration. Oh, and nmcmahon83 im with you all the way - No Better meditation than the passing blur of bitumen... Drive on Guys:burnout:
  7. not everyone mate, not everyone.... but in time.....
  8. most RB engines i've come across tick all the time ! i've been told by reliable sources that its normal, and its just the injectors (or the pump, can't remember which)
  9. This must be a common thing on 'line boxes.... had my clutch replaced when i bought the car, so unsure if it did it before that, but the stick just catches a little as you throw through ffrom 2/3 and 3/4 - seems funny that my box should go, as it's on an NA 2litre - bought with little mods, so unlikely to be raced much. So im thinkin that maybe all our gear boxes must just be wearing - maybe synchros not aligning properly ? ive done 195k if that means anything.... how bout you guys, lot of kays ?
  10. Dave has a good point here - if it'll rev faster, it'll DE-rev faster too... i guess it depends on how you want to drive it. IMHO, i would have thought that for dragging, maintaining revs would have been more important than quick throottle response ? don't quote me on that though...
  11. yeah, i get that alot... which means in my NA 32 means i don't get alot of waves back cmon guys, you don't even have to try ! just wave :wavey: phil
  12. had to be a skyline.... 1979 4 door something (not up with the model numbers from back then) has an L28-ET conversion, which is largely a custom build me thinks...runs ~ 22psi and OMG... zoom zoom bloody zoom zoom... scary stuff - specially with 17yr old driver - carazy man !! :headspin: Currently ANY 32 turbo is in my sights... NA skylines nice, but turbo = even better !!
  13. just to try and shed a little light, wiht my very small torch of knowlegde, i beleive the keying problem would be the woodroff (spelling?) key having worked out slightly, and then rolled a bit, letting the crank pulley shift a little out of allignment. dunno about series 1 R33s, but is quite common on middle age Fiat motors (espec. 650-750 series) i must say thoiugh that 2g sounds a bit much for a replacement crank pulley, build up and re-machining of the crank... but i guess quite a bit of labour in completely sripping the bottom end out. best of luck mate !! nothing worse than having to worry about your baby blowing up...
  14. yep, im with rice no matter what ya do, do it well and be proud - RICE included
  15. 800+ was retail... mates rates.. little bit more affordable... but yeah, still pricey... they are 8 different colours but, so if you paid 350 for cheapies, then times 8, and they're about 2-3 times brighter than the neon type, so yeah, i thought they were worth paying for. bodykit's already ordered... just waitng on the container now... this was just to fill in some time til it gets here.
  16. 'liteglo' kinda cheesy name, but great lights
  17. Its kinda tricky to mount them on a Skyline (32 at least) coz it's largely flat-bottomed, but i ran mine down the 'rails' on the floor of the car, inside the bottom lip of the front bar, and tucked the back one inside the rear body work. Its a bit easier with the LED kit coz they are nowhere near as fragile as the neon equivalent. I fitted them myself, so they are just how i wanted them, and i could make sure all the holes were properly rust proofed etc. the actual lights themselves, including the controller, cables, etc etc, was around 800-1000. See Bruce at Fibrevision, he got me a good deal Man, thats cold... really sh*ts ya when ya get someone whos had enough of people doing dodgy stuff that he just stckers everything... but i guess they get the rough end of the stick quite a bit - take it easy on them.
  18. yeah, thats kinda the info id heard.... didn't know about the fifteen metre thingy though.... and i know im gonna attact attention both good and bad, but i think ive got everything else right... so in a small town where i know 2 of the traffic guys (2, read = HALF) i shouldn't have to much hassle then !! thanks for that guys... so anyone got any pics of their 'line with some light on?
  19. Hay all.... Couldn't really think of a section to put this in, so i thought id go local.... i recently obtained a set of LED underbody lights, (multicolour, flash patterns, bass sensitive) and fitted them, however, am a bit nervous to turn them on while driving around in case i get booked or worse stickered. Since laws vary state to state, i thought here would be a good place to check a) whether anybody else has a set of lights like this, and b)if anyone knows the actual legalitys of driving with them on. it's ok, i've braced myself for the ricey/bling commments, but they do look cool... cheers guys, phil
  20. -Apline CD/Tuner + Remote -Alpine Type S 5.5 " Components in fron doors -Apline Type S 6x9s in parcel shelf -2 x Alpine Type S 12" (parallel) in custom box in boot -Alpine mono block 700w into 2ohm load driving subs the speakers are currently running off the head unit (4x45w) but have 4x75w Alpine amp to put in when i have the time - might need another head unit to get the extra pre-outs though Just fitted (yesterday) lite glo LED undercar kit. VERY Ricy i know, but looks awesome, especially on VU meter simulator mode (bass sensitive) unfortunately doesn't make the car any faster though...
  21. the impedence of the 2 subs won't change, only the apparent impedence to the amp - ohm's law. simple electrical theory. but Fhrx is right, cheaper equipment , while being stable in low load conditions, may not like running at a high level for very long.
  22. you could try running them in parallel - don't know the specs on the amp - might not be stable at 2 ohms though... if you don't know, don't risk it - can be expensive if the amp doesn't have thermal cutouts :Bang: :thumbdwn: but this is how im running my two alpines - goes ok.
  23. yeah, fair enough.... $4500 - thats what i got quoted for a turbo ! i think you'll find it goes as much on car value as power - my mates 2001 pulsar costs him $2200 - but it cost him about 7 grand more than my skyline so thats where i got that idea from. Anyone else made the comparison?
  24. i only pay circ. $1800 p/a for fully comprehensive in WA, and i have no idea what just 3rd party fire and theft costs, i never asked. After all, how much is your baby worth ? if it was a 2 grand corrola then fine, but not the 'line !
  25. I don't know about the N/A form, but the L20e with a Bore/stroke to 28 is pretty impressive when turboed... let us know how you get on - im gonna need to tune up a 260z when i get the body back up to spec..
