  1. i talked to mark at hills motorsport and he said something along the lines of the speed sensor for the r32 gearbox i have, is interfacing fine with the s13 dash, just it wont interface with the ecu due to being sine vs square waves, and id need some converter that might cost a lot.
  2. i think 2 would be the best option, seeing im sure if i got the whole wiring loom it would just mean a lot more work doing whatever modifications are needed to interface with the silvia to start with? yer ur right about the soldering - id just use the terminal/wire and then solder wires upstream more im missing the 6 consult wires, plus these: 17 - Injection pulse (Ti monitor) signal 19 - Power steering oil pressure SW signal 25 - Boost control solenoid sig 33 - Exhaust temp warning lamp 44 - Neutral SW 53 - Vehicle speed sensor 56 - Throttle opening output signal 57 - Exhaust temperature sensor signal 104 - Fuel pump terminal power control output signal about getting them out, if worse comes to worse i just cut the plastic harness thing to get the terminals - seeing ive already got the harness (and i might be getting a diff one to r33 anyway), and just need connectors
  3. My ecu is missing about 12 wires from it, and the ecu harness doesnt have the pins in it, even if i was to get all the wires over to the ecu. Where would i buy the little connectors to solder to the wires then insert into the harness, so it makes contact with the ecu pins? gonna try ring hills motorsport and see if they have any idea, i keep getting passed around to different places who all have no idea...
  4. Was just going to go out to jaycar to get some wiring to fix the missing wires on the computer, when i had my windows down and noticed a strange loudish (might have just heard it with windows up) rattling type noise. It was like the typical lifter tick, but more of a rattle and louder (at 2k rpm i cant really hear lifters in daytime, whereas this i could definitely) It starts at about 2000 rpm in 1st, and then goes away so its a lot softer as revs get higher. It wasnt easy to pinpoint where exactly it was, but seemed to be in the vicinty of the top of the engine. I was only about 1min away from home so i drove back. Had this not been worse enough, ive got a friends wedding on saturday that i really need the car to get to Any easy way to check/rule out certain things, like timing belt, water pump, oil pump, etc? Additionally, ive noticed that in the last month, lifter noise has gone from 1 exhaust lifter to maybe 2 intake lifters (as well as the exhaust one) - Perhaps need a engine flush + oil change? Thanks in advance
  5. u cant really "tune" the car at all, just ensure everything is operating correctly. ill be taking to a dyno, probably after i get consult working and can check any other things. on a seperate issue, i seem to have gone from 1 noisy exhaust lifter to add another 2 noisy intake lifters D:
  6. btw ive replaced the o2 sensor with that el ford one, and it did bugger all for fuel economy (from ~17l/100kms to 15-16L/100kms). i want to get consult happening so that can help diagnose further, but it wouldnt have anything to do with fuel economy. i hardly push the car at all, so can rule out the right foot from the equation. will have a longish drive on the weekend down to wollongong so that may help checking out consumption on longer drives. im running 10psi with bleed valve, not sure what that means in regards to boost sensor. im assuming im using the factor boost solenoid... does my ecu seem like the normal one?
  7. yer the 53 one probably doesnt matter the harness says something like "r33 5mt series 2" or something. main problem with harness is that its missing the pins to put on the wires to insert into hardness - can u get these elsewhere? the ecu has this on it. i didnt see any leds on the back near the screw: P5 (barcode here) Nissan 23710 21V02 MEC-R522 | A1 | 4516 Hitachi Ltd, Tokyo Japan Made in Japan on the side (or the plastic film on back near screw, forget) it had: MEC-R522 | A1 | 0016 what ecu is this? normal r33 s2 manual ecu?
  8. Ive found the wiring job done on my rb25 silvia wasnt the best, heres a list of the wires the ecu is missing. perhaps they may relate to fuel consumption problems? 5, 14, 15 (DT1, DT2, DT3 signals from Auto) - not needed as manual car 17 - Injection pulse (Ti monitor) signal 19 - Power steering oil pressure SW signal 21 - RX Receive (consult) 22 - TX Transmit (consult) 25 - Boost control solenoid sig 31 - CLK (consult + anything else?) 33 - Exhaust temp warning lamp 44 - Neutral SW 47 - CHK (consult) 53 - Vehicle speed sensor 56 - Throttle opening output signal 57 - Exhaust temperature sensor signal 104 - Fuel pump terminal power control output signal now the problem is finding these wires and getting them hooked up. are there any i should leave? any that seem desperately serious? aside from fuel consumption, had i never checked the ecu i wouldnt have realise so many are missing.
  9. sorry to hear about the car going 'bang' today whilst dynoing @ MAS, i hope neither of these quotes had anything to do with it what actually happened? hopefully nothing too serious
  10. yer it is questionable given similar thing happening here, however we arent trying to flog it off for personal gain, which is the biggest beef copyright holders have with infringers, that is people who would otherwise buy the item properly, buy the copied item from a third party, and the copyright owner gets nothing. less of a concern are those people who get the item without cost, as many of those would not have bought it in the first place. so its like a light grey pot calling the kettle black btw ebay have removed it:
  11. hopefully ebay removes his item. thats pretty lame
  12. remember whenever u forward large attachments in gmail, after u have, to go into sent folder, then click the individual reply (more info or extra options or something) and trash it - if u trash the whole thing u lose ur original emails. ull need to delete the sent emails (eventually) cause it will double ur email usage.
  13. unfortunately there just isnt enough room in the engine bay of an s13 to fit the clutch fan. id recommend keeping it too if space isnt an issue
  14. are there any downsides of having the fans permanently on, aside from longer warm up times? btw check ebay out, should be able to get a thermo fan for less than that, and maybe ask whoever sells them about thermo switches, cause 90 seems a tad much also
  15. sent. if u could forward it to the next person who requests thatd be good (just it takes awhile as u have to forward each msg individually) Peter
  16. thanks - didnt think itd be as simple as that. isnt there a sensor just for this in the bottom of radiator, the drain plug? mine has had its wires cutoff...isnt the stock air con thermo fan controller by this? (as my car is a conversion i cant check) normally when u buy a thermo fan u have to buy a switch and setup relay seperately, if the car didnt already have this done from factory.
  17. theres only one line from the tank, thats the vapour line shown as C above. the D line only needs to vent to atmosphere. once your greater than about 2k rpm, the vaccum line is activated which opens the valve, drawing the stored vapours in the charcoal thru the intake. i *think* the vent line (D) draws air from outside the car for which the vapour travels in to intake. either that or the D line vents clean air once vapour is removed out to atmosphere, or possibly both of the above.
  18. ud also want to check if the GTR takes narrowband (on/off, rich/lean like gts-t, el ford, most cars) or wideband (more states in between)
  19. get a car u can afford. dont start off financial difficulty for the rest of your life by taking out a loan so early. leave loans for houses.
  20. if thats legit ^^ then id look into that xfixiate. el falcon ones are 70-120 ish each?
  21. its required for emissions, so removing is illegal (big fines accompany it) legalities aside, removing it means you are releasing fuel vapour into atmosphere, rather than being taken into the intake and burnt like normal air/fuel would. youll get slightly worse fuel consumption, but some people report better performance. in the end, if u can keep it without too many hassles, then do so. i also relocated mine to back corner of engine bay, passenger side.
  22. i have the r33 manual available on gmail (21x7.5mb emails), spent the last couple of days getting it there leave ur gmail address here or something and i can forward it to you. (u need winrar, and optionally quicksfv if u wish to ensure all the attachments are not corrupt)
  23. Once the links such as that two posts above disappears, might be possibly to get it going on gmail.
  24. handy translation site for the japanese is http://www.systranet.com/systran/net note you may have troubles if ur browser is a bit wacky and switches between displaying the squares for the japense, and weird ascii instead. u need the former for the translator to work well. j-spec get a fair few of their mailing list cars from the yahoo auctions, so its good to keep an eye on them, even if its just to see whats available.
