  1. I have a couple of RCA plugs hanging off the back of my head unit plus a coil of cable plus the all the standard wiring running around back there plus there is still room to move. Don't really have any measurements but it not exactly squishy back there....
  2. I use an orbital buffer - like a $30 supercheap one. I cut and polished my car for years by hand and got given the buffer for Christmas. Always thought they were dodgy, so I didn't want to use it. Did give it a burl in the end and was surprised how well it worked. I do use it only for selected tasks though eg application of glaze and final buff of wax.
  3. I always thought that 'DIN' and 'Double DIN' refered to the size of the opening, not the depth or volume of the hole/area. So its about the size/area of the face plate, the verticle plane of what you can see. Could be wrong though....
  4. oh, meguirs also make a plastic and vinyl cleaner/conditioner for inside which is WAY better than armoural. IMHO.
  5. If it is heating (not just mixing a little warm air in), it will warm the footwell on 'purpose'. This, as far as I know, is normal - pressumably so you don't get a face full of hot air. As the ambient temperature rises in the vehicle it shifts the air flow back up to a combination of footwell and face vents and then eventually just the face vents.
  6. Do a search for 'meguiars'. Wash, fine cut, glaze and wax will make it look a million bucks. It really is worth the effort :uh-huh:
  7. You ought to try it in a four door! Clunk, clunk and clunk - great way to freak out passengers if you time the evil laugh well! Yes it is normal, yes it can be disabled, yes there have been a few threads about this if you want to know more.
  8. Welcome to the wonderful world of speedskyzers! I don't have an Impul 33, but wish my four door was... Would love to check your car out, so hope to see you around.
  9. Hmmm, seems everyone just wants the latch.... Well, I am in Brisvegas but I did call 'shotgun' in the original post Comes down to sellers discretion I suppose - let me know what you decide. Meantime, I'll up my bid to $70. Don't forget my money will look better with its sunny Queensland tan!!
  10. thats the way it used to be before they got radar and lasers, thing is, its really hard for them to get the charge to stick in court.
  11. 'cause remember, as your local law enforcement/revenue raising establishment will tell you "Speed Kills".....they only had your best interests at heart. Yes, yes, that was intended to be said with much sarcasm.
  12. Yes, you need a Road Worthy Certificate for the sale of a car in Queensland - although they have just changed the name of it I believe (a beautiful example of bureaucracy at its best - same inspection with a differently named piece of paper at the end). I personally would not put too much stock in the RACQ check over - get a mechanic you know (or at least one the seller does not know/use) to look over the car. Unless they specialise in the particular car you are buying I wouldnt see why they have to be a 'performance' shop.
  13. Um, what just happened?! Is the bidding at $50 or $100? Me just needs the latch so a hundred big ones is a bit rich for me... Hows $55???
  14. How long is a piece of string...... Front bars alone range from a few hundred dollars through to a thousand dollars plus. Backyard panel sprays a couple of hundred dollars, full car respray, in a different color, several thousand dollars. Take your pick.
  15. Welcome dude!
  16. How did this pan out guys? Can you just undo the screw?
  17. I did a fair bit of research into running costs, servicing costs and replacement part costs before I bought mine (as a student at the time). The Skylines add up pretty well, especially for an imported car. Running costs, ie petrol etc, are relative - excellent for the performance levels but not as cheap as say a Barina... Servicing is pretty normal too (it helps if you trust your mechanic). Replacement parts have more of an issue with availability than any thing else. It's no trouble getting them, just occasionally have you wait a week for them to be shipped in from OS. This is becoming less of a problem as the cars become more popular and well known. Price, again, is relative - your not going to be able to turn up at Super Cheap and get a Falcadore clutch for five bucks but likewise your not talking big number dollars either.
  18. Series 1 has ceramic impellers = slightly slower spool up but can take higher boost. Series 2 has plastic impellers = slightly faster spool up but cannot take as high boost. Which is better?....How long is a piece of string? Decide what your objectives are, then work how you are going to get there.
  19. A good wash, fine cut, glaze and wax will do wonders for paint. Do a search for this topic or Meguiars. If you use a fine cut, you would have to be a real tool to do serious damage to your paint
  20. I too was dubious, however, I ended up using Meguiars professional fine cut cleaner (the same stuff I use on the paint).
  21. Dunno if they work, never tried them myself. Was just a guess for the door switch, but seems to make sense....
  22. The little switch in the door aperture for the interior light???
  23. red900ss has hit the nail on the head and sumed it up well. It is for these same reasons that a 'boxer' engine sounds like it does, no matter what car it is in (and different to 'normal' four)- i.e. the exhaust note or throb.
  24. I couldn't say enough good stuff about BCM. I haven't got my respray done yet, but all of their work so far has been excellent. Ask for Scott, I have known him for a number of years now (professionally, not personally), and he will be more than happy to talk to you. B.C.M.
