nice feature! good to see the test day went well, do did you notice much difference with the splitter off with the front bar all sealed up? or does it need work in conjunction with the splitter?

Good man, just been doing what i can on it. not much more to do, but it does need to go in for a check up tune before i drive it. so, maybe 1 month Ive been busy trying to pull more weight out of the car as im allowed to go to 1,113kg. Bought a lovely FPR boot off Fatz that saved 6kg Passengers door has been gutted with Lexan window, saved 10kg. im leaving the driver’s door intact until I have better side intrusion in the cage. Partycat has hooked me up with some of his plastic headlight covers, which I am just going to mount in place of the headlights all together. Another 7kg I needed a new battery for my rover so I stole the dry cell out of the this car and replaced with a 300cca li-ion bike battery. I think it’ll be enough to start it, but I’ll test it tonight. This saves 20kg… (dry cell = 20kg, li-ion =1kg and I can move the battery under the dash and remove some cable too) I have pulled out the thermo fans and all wiring (and headlight wiring) 5kg and the hydro h/b is now gone too I chopped up my old exhaust and made it into a side dumper. I cut out some of the rail and welded in some plate (I will also be making a strengthining member in the car) used some 4”x2” oval pipe about 40cm long to get as much ground clearance as I can, i will need to cut a hole in the skirt for it. 10kg save here too New engine belts are on too, so I should be able to give it a kick in the guts tonight and see if ive connected everything up right. So, that’s nearly 60kg gone this time around J just need to get my fat ass to the gym and save even more! Next weekend I will be modding the rear subframe so I’ll actually be able to change the static camber, rather than adjusting ride height to get what I need. Semi trailing arm IRS sucks…. -

been meaning to get back out there for awhile now. but, yeah after s/l will be interesting to see time difference, it was my first trackday with the 30 (220kw) and reallllllyyyyy old 225 wide 595RS's. got a bit more done on the weekend Motor back in guards are back on too, and have been spaced out. not sure how much benefit there will be for a box shaped car but it didnt cost anything and hopefully will help. kinda cool without a front on it -

cheers man. actually cleaned, sanded and used a primer this time yep, still got heaps of meat. i'll get a pic for you. -
Super awesome job on the 1.04 mate. it was good to meetyou and see this car in the metal too How much power is the car making now? Im lucky to hit 185km at the kink. but it may also be that you're carrying a bit more speed through the last corner and can get on it eairlier. Are you going to make a fibreglass spiltter/airdam?

I have decided that the money from the donations will all go towards tyres. I'll do a sexy poise on them when i get them This has freed up enough money that i was able to replace the manifold rather than weld up the cracks again. Its a one of the Mild steel jobies from Hybrid in NZ, the quality is actually pretty good (better than the chinese one) I didnt get a pic but its all smooth in the collector and the face of the flanges (thick too) a straight. It puts the gate futher away too, which i think will help with the diaphragm issue. Also rerouted the water return, put the new beanie on and have use silcon hose for the wastegate. New oil drain from the head to sump I have also finish painting the new cam covers. dont you judge me... YELLOW!!! I think it'll look good in an all black engine bay. Ive painted the strutbrace and boosted stopper i made black so they dont stand out too much. I'll put the flywheel and clutch on and hopefully have it back in the engine bay this weekend. What do people think of Royal Purpal oils? thinking of trying them as im a sucker for advertising -

Ok, I have a little question. My current exhaust manifold has cracked (again) and I don’t really want to re-weld it. I have two options, either buy another and keep the same setup or use a Twin Scroll manifold (has two old HKS wastegates) that I already have but will need to buy a new turbo housing for. It should be about the same cost, just a little more work to go T/S The turbo is T3 atm and the T/S mani is T4 What are peoples opinions? -

I just emailed Ian, this is what he said. "Wastegates are fine to dump to atmosphere and do not need to meet exhaust guidelines" -

Thank so much guys! This has really helped me out a lot. I just updated my build thread in my sig if you want want to see what ive been up to. The airborne bit was fun the landing... not so much.. It was mostly superficial damage, the wheel movement was cause but the camber bolts loosening on impact. quite lucky in the end. -

Well, im feeling quite loved atm Fatz the top bloke he is has started a thread to help me get to WTAC. And so far has raised a heap of the folding stuff, help and even a sponsorship deal with Australian & Japanese Dismantlers for a set of tyres. This has really taken huge burden off me and I am really grateful for the generosity shown by the members of this club, Thanks heaps everyone! Engine bay degreased and a lick of paint to make it feel pretty. New cam cover gaskets have rocked up today, so tonight I’ll prep and paint the 25 cam covers.. the extra volume should help keep a bit less oil making it to the catch can. I put on the modified sump (think its about 8l with gates) and new balancer (which is tiny). Also a new timing belt and tensioner while I had easy access. Just waiting on one more fitting for the new head drain hose, then I’ll slap on the flywheel and put it back in the car. -

silly question here, but... "For rearward facing exhaust the outlet(s) shall be between 75mm and 450mm above the ground and within 100mm longitudinally of the rear of the bodywork. If the exhaust is directed sideways the outlet(s) must be located rearward of the midpoint of the wheelbase and shall not project beyond the maximum width of the vehicles bodywork or terminate more than 50mm inwards of the coachwork. A side exit exhaust must exit in a direction away from the centreline of the vehicle." ... would this include wastegate dump/screamers? -

Got a little done on the weekend. Putt the fittings put on to the new sump and fitted the ignition cut off cable. I’ll get some pics later.. Bit of weight reduction…. Im tiding up the bay while the motors out, bit of paint, fixing up some wiring and general messiness. Cut out the radiator support panel for ease of removing the motor, knocked up a new one and some air guides for it too. Not finished yet but you get the idea. Need to do something for the top of it too. Old vs new flywheel Im also going to put on some 25 cam covers I have, and am tossing up wether to paint them red again or black. or yellow. lol any votes? boat anchor
