I'm sure Tracy will keep me under control It'd be great to share a few bevvies with the SAU lads (and ladettes) and discuss the awesomeness of blue mesh all night New drinking game: scull a schooner each time "blue mesh" is mentioned. I'd be totally smashed if ns.com got a hold of this game

+1 Club lock and alarm is the best combo I'm usually never more than a stones throw away from my car ... except when I've left it parked at home on my property with hidden surveillance cameras recording it. But its a rare occurance that I'm never near it.

But thats only the front elevation! You haven't labelled the roof pitch, or dimensions of the window and door framing and the pier and cavity locations for those openings. You'll also need to annotate the construction materials and dimensions. Is it steel frame or timber frame? What grade wood? Where are the site plans, elevations, floor plan, section plan etc? And on and on ... E- for your efforts

... and when you've got 4 karts side by side fighting for the one tight corner, its only gunna get ugly

Cara, you're still crashing at my place tonight, yes?

Collected 2 of my Design and Construction Management projects last night from my lecturer and scored top marks! Funny thing was that I was worried I had left some detail out. Projects required compiling a Site Analysis Report detailing everything about a development site from a site visit and survey. Next part of the project required the design of a single storey dwelling on that site, complete with all drawings you'd submit with Council for Building Rules Consent. Ah, I felt like bragging. Not often you get 100% from design projects. Now I just got another 2 to go!!! Time for beer tonight!!! [end bragging]

My first thoughts were that the boot was too short, then that back glass looked odd ... then it clicked it was a replica kit. I was guessing BMW but wasn't too sure. Then I clicked on the linky and it all fell into place

2 years ago I got nicked by a Vic cop in the country for doing 83 in an 80 zone, and just 100m from entering a 100 zone, after passing thru a country town. Anal or what? 3 demerit points too!!! 1 for each 1kph over!!! He gave me the whole speech to about "I don't know what you south australians think you can get away with, but we don't tolerate speeding". My reply was like "If you were working in SA, and if you let 3kph upset you, you'd be in for a shock".

I still ROR at the silly bitch in the white Evo 6 busted twice in 400m a few months back First by a speed camera near the old Adelaide gaol, because she wanted to race me, then near Maccas when she weaved thru traffic and raced past an unmarked motorcycle cop (despite it being very bloody obvious it was a cop!). Hope she lost her licence. Hoon.

Nah, the awesome thread had the RSVR Mille. Not a bad bike, but not to my taste (or bang for buck). And it ain't the beez kneez bad ass bike ... this is: She gets rego in the next week or two ... BRING THE NOISE!!! I should amend that "track days" motivational poster with an image of my race bike

No sweat. I'd love to get out there and represent the SAU SA club for the most part, but after thinking about it overnight you are correct that this course would be less suitable for me. I'd end up "carving up" and upsetting some drivers (or even myself). So in consideration for others on the track, I'll put myself into your HP course later in the year.

Would I do that???

I wanna put Adrian in the wall again ... tis what he gets anyway for 'nudging' me for 4-5 laps. Gets real annoying ya know

I have the need for speed!

Who said the primary choice was the Stag? The Stag was my backup if I didn't have a certain car by then. But ultimately, what I'd expect from the day is a little too much for whats on offer. As has been mentioned, people like me would get more benefit from a track day. So don't worry, I'll be getting the Stag out for a track day soon And in any case, I'm sure my knowledge of the track would still give me the advantage and make up for the "skyline in a fat suit" factor

Luke, my spot is now free for those on the reserve list ... I'm pulling out mate. Sussed out the details for the day, and I agree that I'd prob get more out of a track day seeing as I've already done the track day and racing thing (on 2 wheels). I'd prob get bored ... no offence to the organisers. Plus the car I'm thinking of purchasing and using on the day is a way off yet, and won't be ready for the track for a while.

Pete, have you tried contacting Nene too? Her old man helped her and Ben with their garage. I'll be getting my garage thru them when I finish the extension.
-
Mitch, didn't you get the engine from Turbo Tune? If so, isn't it acceptable that they provide the pulleys and all to get the job done? There will be more car shows anyway mate. Get the car done, don't rush, and set your sights on the next show.

Yeah, I guess so Being a bookeeper, numbers come natural to me. So the designing of houses and crunching numbers is just a new form of calculating = nerd So was I

Delta Fin + Type M = Big Mouth Yo!

The cooler is a Cooling Pro Delta FIn 600x300x70 unit. Check out the Cooling Pro website. I'm too lazy to check out the price again Also fitted it myself, including fabricating the return pipes. -
They drum it into you hard enough. Things like this you need to know. Otherwise buildings fall down and people die ... pretty much. For instance, my floors for my extension are made of timber, suspended over natural ground level. Now I need minimum 100mm clearance from ground to any timber member of the floor. If I use the narrowest timber, I could get away with meeting my existing floor level of 300mm above ground. Well I lose 100mm already from the clearance rule, so that leaves 200mm. Due to the length of my floor bearers of some 7.8m in continuous span, I need 190x45mm timber for my bearers. On top of that goes the 190x35mm floor joists. Well 100+190+190=480, which will be 180mm above my existing floor level of the existing building (not including the 22mm floor boards!). However, I can run the floor joists in single span (not continuous span) between (not on top of) the floor bearers = 100+190=290 which means it meets my current floor level. However, the single spans at (still) such a long span means I need to run them every 450mm, not 600mm to keep the 190x35 profile. Or 600mm at 190x45 profile. So economically: 7.8m / 0.6 (600mm) = (13+1) 14 rows of joists therefore 190x45 = 8,500 unit x 14 = 119,700 7.8m / 0.45 (450mm) = (17+1) 18 rows of joists therefore 190x35 = 6,650 units x 18 = 119,700 Economically they will be identical in cost. So I might as well order more 190x45, rather than a bit of 190x35 and a bit of 190x45. Lost yet??? And thats only the floor!!! I have to do this shit every week!

To design you a building in accordance with all Australian Standards and Council codes ... I wouldn't even hazard a guess for a fixed fee ... but generally $60 per hour is the norm and there are ALOT of hours involved. And thats just the designing stage. I'm amending the drawings to my house extension every week or so. Its not as simple as drawing the house you want. Lesson in one storey building design, so listen up ... The building must be designed for the use of standard brickwork, so the dimensions of the house are determined by the brick course. Openings for windows and doors etc must also meet design consideration of brickwork. There are set dimensions for wall construction and cavities. Cut and fill for the buidling footprint on the site. AS for timber type and strength for roof loads. Council design techniques to be considered for energy efficient homes. Consideration of open space and floor area ratios. Overlooking and overshadowing issues. And so on and so forth. Thats only the tip of the iceberg. I'm designing a house in the south-east corner of the city and its a nightmare because of the narrow dimensions and Council rules! For the most part, I mainly design road networks in dwelling in-fill areas/residential growth areas. And also site plans for extensions and redevelopments. I'm in the process of applying for an ABN and business name to do some consulting/drafting on the side. I'd like to stick with the design side of things and leave the labour to other poor bastards
