  1. Wow, I never said Martin didn't know how to tune. Never said anything about his occupation or contribution to the import tuning scene, or work he's done with Zoom etc ... don't know where that came from? It was never a personal attack. I was speaking about his contribution to SAU cruises etc. I respect the guy as a tuner, but I do not agree with his "good luck with the cops" attitude. I'd be happy to talk car tuning with him any day of the week, I love cars just as much as he does. But I just do not agree with his summary of 80% of Skylines are illegally modified. This is too broad a statement ... something we've been trying to narrow down with Neil over the past months. Its illegal if its a blatantly unsafe mod, but there is a grey area where most mods fall into ... something we need discussion on with an expert like Neil. Anyways, I'd like to see Neil get on this forum and get a "Ask Neil" thread sticky happening. Of course, there'd be no one answer fits all solution, but I'm sure his advice will 'guide' you to what is and isn't an unsafe modification.
  2. +1 We're out there doing cruises, shows, meets and other events for SAU. I've never seen Martin out. We represent SAU more than Martin has since 2002. Given that Nene, Ben and myself (despite all the negativity beforehand) met with SAPOL to open up communications, we've done more for the "positive" image of the import car scene than he has. We've stuck our head on the chopping block for SAU (and imports in general). Come back to the table when you've got a better hand. Anyways, onya Nene.
  3. +1 for Nene and Neil. We need the lines of communication open at times like this. -10 to Martin. "Active" member since 2002 with 350 odd posts? I've only ever seen your posts going off-topic, like even now. Never seen you on a cruise. Never seen you at any fund raiser. Never seen you at any SAU event at all. Thats not active, thats being asleep. Which is your attitude right now towards trying to establish a relationship with SAPOL. Wake up! ... contribute positively, or go away and don't come back.
  4. Yeah, I checked ISC and can't see it on their list. But still wouldn't hurt to ask Ryan. Never know.
  5. That specific cooler I haven't noticed being sold my any Adelaide shops. Tho I think ISC may? I want to nab one soon for my Stagea ... something that looks better with the new bar.
  6. Yeah, I think when it comes to something at that level of ripping off, I sleep better at night knowing they won't do it again (... in a hurry anyway). Too many people think its all too hard to chase someone over money or goods. But for me its the principle. People like that shouldn't be allowed to think they can get away with it. I could have just chased him down and persuaded him to refund my money, but he'd prob just get better at hiding and conning rather than stop. This way he knows he's not untouchable, and now he's got a criminal record for it.
  7. D'oh ... I was stuck on the word "Pulsar" LOL
  8. Tell ya what, if the money does hit my account this week, I'll be getting the Brutale back on the road for a stint. God I miss riding! ... and its only been 3 weeks!!!
  9. FWD! Where's the fun in that?
  10. Congrats! What doing? ... any SAU freebies?
  11. Updated 2L engine? Making it a 20B rotary? Don't think so. Early RXs were 12A with the RX7 series getting the 13B (1.3 litre rotary) I know their engine life is short. Most are thrashed and due for expensive rebuild. Think 2 stroke, and you get the idea of high maintenance costs. Def buyer beware. Tell lil bro to join a rotary website and do some homework before handing over the folding stuff.
  12. Paid via direct debit, but I spoke with the guy endlessly via mobile and email leading up to the payment. Seemed legit at the time, and in any case I had enough info to chase him up if he didn't ship ... which he didn't. I don't trust any of those 'buyer protection' schemes, as I've heard endless horror stories about them all. Figured, do my own homework and get all the details myself. Then if in doubt, I have info to fall back on. In this case, it worked out and police tracked him down. Time will tell. Reckons he's transferring payment today. I reckon it should be in my account tomorrow or next day. If nothing is received by Thursday, I'll contact his solicitor and QLD police and advise no payment received.
  13. I put mine in. Waiting for the acceptance letter.
  14. Was very much a surprise call. Walked into my office after grabbing my lunch and my mobile was ringing. "Hi, Reuben? This is the guy you bought suspension off ebay a while ago. Do you remember me?" "Ah Darryn. How could I forget $1400. Catch up with you did they?" God knows, the money would be handy right about now. His solicitor says it'd work towards a lesser charge. He's guilty pretty much. He can't deny that. I handed over some solid proof in my submission with QLD police, I'm sure the others added more weight too to the case against him. He'll be prosecuted for sure, now its just a matter of how bad.
  15. Wrong. You'll have my cheque waiting I bill out at $60 per hour ... Car show and early meet up = 7.00am to 5.00pm = 10 hours 10 hours x $60 per hour = $600 thank you!
  16. My apolgies to the mods if this doesn't deserve its own thread, but I felt it did. Story with a happy ending ... I got ripped off some 10 months ago by a guy in QLD by the name of Darryn Irvine. Apparently he is well known in QLD for being dodgy. He ripped me off a set of Ohlins shocks for my Stagea to the tune of $1405, and stopped all communication as soon as he had my money. Too far for even me to travel and track him down, so I lodged a complaint with the QLD Fraud Squad. My cousin is a QLD cop anyway, so having someone "on the inside" helped. Well Darryn Irvine, aka Darren Vine, aka Aaron Vine, aka Aaron Irvine, called me today and informed me the QLD police caught up with him and he is facing Court for multiple counts of fraud. Looks like he might be facing jail time. He explained how things went wrong for him (not that I care or believed it much, he could have called earlier) with some business disaster story, and he wants to settle things and give me my money back. Well I'm not much of a sympathiser when it comes to crims ... I would just like that money back tho. I am aware that there were 1 or 2 others here last year who contacted me advising me they were ripped off by this guy who went by the ebay name Japdriftking_08 and used the email [email protected]. I hope you have been contacted by this guy also and he is resolving to fix the debt. If he has not contacted you, PM me and I will forward to you the 'fresh' contact number I have from him now. Naturally, I'd need to be certain he does have a debt with you before I hand over the new number ... I don't want to get on the wrong side of the QLD fraud squad by freely giving out his details for harassment. Be good to get that $1405 back. I've long since written it off, so its a bonus now for me. Once this has been received, I will contact the QLD police fraud squad and inform them that Darryn had squared things with me. My cousin says he'll still be charged with fraud, but any attempt to repair the damage can only benefit him for a lesser penalty. $
  17. Wouldn't surprise me. I def vote #1 to getting Rann out. He's a crackpot.
  18. Not holding my breath. Pete, I'd be happy to send the Govt my stimulus monies, but I know it wouldn't go towards a drag strip. Hospitals and Education are top of the list. Would be nice tho. I'd def be out there drag racing again.
  19. Its illegal to be so gay and revolting
  20. .. or they didn't have the 24 hours to read thru all the opinions/messages.
  21. Happy birthday Dave
  22. Hmm, I could always get the 2006 Aprilia SR50 scooter on the road as my daily
  23. I'm still driving the Stagea around. But I am considering a daily. Not due to the weekend's events, but just to have a cheaper runabout. Possibly a twin cab ute so I can use it for the run around for the house extension.
