  6. Sorry, but I've got to ask ... Why is it that people don't hold the workshops to their quotes? If they quote you, then want more when they're doing the work, it comes out of their pocket. Why do people readily throw cash away without question. I have never allowed any shop to get more out of me above the written quote. A mate of mine took his v-twin sports bike to a Murray Bridge workshop for some minor mods, and they blew up his engine! He nags them for months for his bike back fixed, and they finally tell him its ready 3 months on ... with a bill for nearly $5500!!!!! $1K over the quote for the mods and an extra $3K or so for the rebuild on the engine ... which they blew up! And he was going to pay them because they were holding his bike to ransom. I gave my mate some advice and helped him take the matter to the ACCU and Court. But he was just going to surrender and hand over the cash. I've even had my cars and bikes serviced at the dealer at a fixed quote. Then when I go pick it up, they throw in extras for dirty filter or some other small item etc. If its not on the written quote and I didn't authorise it (especially if its not required for that particular service interval), I won't pay for it. I even had one shop charge me for a replacement stock air filter on my TLR bike. I hit the roof because they threw out a $130 washable BMC filter. They ended up replacing it with a new BMC filter.
  7. That would have taken hours to do. You'd need to drain fluids etc. Have the tools for the job required straightaway. Sounds bogus. There would be so much noise.

  17. RANT #2 Crazy John are idiots. Vodafone are bigger idiots. Got sick of Crazy John and sent to Vodafone because all I hear are good things about them (mostly). so I sign up and transfer my existing number over. Nothing. Phone's not working. I've been without a working phone for a week now. They were supposed to "port" my existing number over onto the new SIM card and f**ked it up. I rang over a dozen times in the last week to get it resolved, but nearly everytime I was put thru to customer service I was put on hold then the given the 'hang up' tone as the line was disconnected about 4-5 times. The 4 or so times I did get thru I was firstly reassured the problem would be resolved in 3 hours if I turned my phone off. Nope. Finally called yesterday and gave them a mouthful. Immediately asked for someone who's native language is English. Explained it to them again and informed them that if they hung up on me again, accidentally or otherwise, I'd take my business elsewhere. I've been without a working phone for a week and I need my number for work. I can't send/received messages or calls. Told the line again about something f**ked up during "porting" my number and the techs are trying to fix it. Said it could take a few days. I told them that was unacceptable, I want to speak with the customer service manager. Put onto their supervisor, said "no" I want their manager. Spoke to the manager and explained the situation and how unimpressed I was. Said I didn't care to be treated on the same level as pimple faced teens who desperately want to text their stupid boyfriends ... my phone is required for me to make a living, as well as social reasons. Informed I would now be treated as a priority. Finally, my phone is working again today. Now I gotta catch up on work.
  18. RANT #1 Just had a meeting with one of my admin staff and gave her an official warning today. Pull your socks up or walk. I been doing more drafting work for the office and need to hand over some of the bookkeeping tasks, but she's f**king it up and blaming the system not working. Its been working for the last 9 years bitch!!! And being the office manager and having built this office ground up 9 years ago, I take that as an insult from someone with no qualifications/diploma/degree. She had a whinge to the #1 boss yesterday and he spoke with me yesterday arvo. He knows there is nothing wrong with the system we use, but rather the user (her). We both agreed she needed to be warned. This is not the first time she's messed up. She's been verbally warned a few times over the last year. She's even got a bit of a rude attitude on the phone at reception. When you're dealing with lawyers and Councils and Government departments as much as we do, you can't be rude to them. (she talks to them like they're telemarketers) I've gone and hired and started training another admin staff member in the bookkeeping side of the office. She's obviously noticed that and sees her as a threat. So what. The new trainee bookkeeper will be taking over her jobs to do with the financial side of the office and she'll be limited back to general office typing and filing. Its my job as the manager to allocate the best resources anyway, so thats what I'm doing.
