  1. Pics? What times were people getting? When is the next one? I might be heading out on the 5th April for a bit of fun in the Stagea. What do the scrutineers look for? I've only ever taken my bike around there
  2. Nah. That'll only start bragging or bullshit stories coming out. Although I've given one example of what I have done, I try to avoid the bragging part. I've seen so many bad things in my time, and you wouldn't believe some of the things people do. I've done things to make a difference, but there isn't enough webspace to detail them all. But people should make a difference by doing something about it, rather than talking about it.
  3. Gotta take the car to an Inspection Station (I went to Sturt), but you'll need the VIN stamped to the strut tower first (for Stageas anyway) and proof of compliance. They do the usual check to make sure the car isn't stolen or written off, and they record the numbers on an Inspection sheet which you take to Transport SA. They also record the mileage, so no chance of swapping ODO. Line up at TSA for 1 hour and then hand in the paperwork for the plates you want. They tag the plates to your old plates (until you get the new plates - 2 weeks roughly) and record the VIN and engine number to the new registration. Inspection is free. Plates RRS-250 cost me $71. Rego and stamp duty to be paid upon pickup of new plates.
  4. Its not weakness at all dude. You're alot stronger than the piss-asses rorting everything for what its worth. But sometimes just go with the flow, don't let pride get in the way. All this help and support is there for people like you. On a similar note, I just got back from my QEH Ortho appointment today for my broken shoulder. The doctors love people like me I heal fast. I was meant to start my physio programme, but did a whole series of tests for movement and strength and passed it with flying colours. So I don't need physio. I've got the doctors permission to ride again ... and they also reckon I could go back to racing in 4 weeks!
  5. Society has gone soft and we 'rely' on the system. Hell, Centrelink (aka Social Security) was only designed as a temporary assistance program decades ago. But it stuck and stayed, and now we have people bumming off it. Yes, the USA is a good example of the system not helping. Take it away. Make people rely upon themselves and not hand outs. Do something with your life, rather than waiting for the Govt to do something for you. With the exception of people like Tangles of course
  6. Thieves know how it works! Steal something ... even if someone sees you, they won't do anything. Well if the public started doing something about it ... catching them and giving them a good beating, then I think they'd be less inclined to try it again. Would the public just stand around and watch many decades ago? No! The community as a whole has gone soft. "Hey man, someone stole your car, I saw the whole thing". Well what the f**k did you do about it. Nothing, he said he just watched the whole thing. Harden up people. Get in there and make a difference. You want someone to watch over your car ... then watch over them too.
  7. Oh dear! This thread has become a topic of good parenting Sorry for the hijack!
  8. True. Sums up my beliefs ... I just got carried away with my post Unacceptable behaviour is to be punished. Work out what 'hurts' them (taking away the Xbox, the traditional sent to bedroom, or (in the worse cases) the traditional 'spanking'), but also explain to them 'why' they're being punished. Reward them for doing good things without being told to do so, but the reward can be a simple "thanks". Kids shouldn't do things with the expectation of getting something out of the deal. Thats discipline. The best reward you can give a child is 'good character'. I have 10 nieces and nephews and I love them all, and as much as they love their uncle, I am firm with them when its required, and I tell them why. They still love their uncle because "he's tough". LOL How many of us felt warm and fuzzy when told we'd done a good job at work? I sure as hell never expected my boss to give me a chuppa chup when I did a good job. Knowing you're appreciated is a good starting point for a reward. As I tell my 9yo, "you're not going to get a treat/reward everytime you do something good, you should be good all the time. But you will make it easier for me and your mum to decide if you deserve something when the time comes without having to think twice about it." As he grows up, those toys/treats will become pats on the back. Kids expect material things naturally, but as adults we rely less and less on something tangible for a reward ... unless its a beer of course!
  9. A race harness can be approved, as long as the rear seats are removed and an appropriate anchorage point used (like a 4 point roll cage - hence, remove back seats) and then backed up with an Engineers Certificate. I think there is also the pre-requisite that fixed front seats (ie non-reclining like SAAS race seats) are also used. I had this done to a project car of mine years ago, but can't recall the minor details of it now. But I did get it approved under an Engineers Certificate.
  10. With todays soft-cock approach to parenting ("you shouldn't hit kids"), there is no discipline! My old man got the belt out on my ass when I messed around, and I know now that I did genuinely deserved it. It adjusted my attitude. Got into RAAF training and karate and learnt alot of discipline and respect for people. But also taught me that others should respect you and your property also. Its a two-way street. I'm tough on my 9yo, but I explain "why". He knows I want the best for him and I'm only showing him the ropes of life ... but not 'sheltering' him from it. We've sent him to bed without dinner because he didn't do his homework (lied that he had, to play Xbox). He had his cry, but I told him the next day that if you don't finish school and get a job, there would be no food on the table for himself, so if he can't get past that little episode and move on, then he's not ready to make his own decisions and we'll make them for him. So he was banned from the Xbox for a week and did his homework under our supervision. He's now learnt things like the Xbox are rewards, not something he's meant to have by right. He's a good kid and supports his mum around the house alot and I've rewarded him with bike rides and the sort. I'm actually in the process of window shopping for a little dirt bike for him. Do good, get treated good. Unfortunately, the general public don't know the difference between 'discipline' and 'abuse'. Everyone is too willing to point the finger at the parents for hitting their kids, and still blaming them when that same kids steals something because the parents couldn't discipline them. Eat a tea spoon of cement and harden the f**k up. Don't go assuming you know me. I'm an easy bloke to get along with, but get on the wrong side of me and there's hell to pay. Touching my toys without being invited? Thats a big no-no! My background puts me in a better position to 'get away with it' than most people. And as far as the law is concerned ... you just gotta know your rights and the corners to get around it.
  11. Yep. Got one hell of a kick. Fortunately, I watched my mate fire it a few times and he forewarned me on how to hold the gun and all. The kick still took me by surprise. You know its coming and you know it'll be big and loud ... but when you pull the trigger ... WOW I didn't look as ungraceful as that knob!
  12. I can finally ditch the NSW plates from my Stag. Grim's got RRS-260 for his Stag, so I've nabbed RRS-250 Spent over 30 minutes in line at Transport SA ... lazy buggers. Now the inspection is done, let the modding begin. First up is the exhaust system, then front mount intercooler kit. After that, I fit the T3/T4 turbo.
  13. Hell, the stupid wank damaged the ute. I would have given him something to think about whilst waiting for the cops. "Yes, I have apprehended the thief, but he tried to fight back, so I had to render him unconscious". He'll just get a slap on the wrist and be out stealing another car to get home.
  14. I don't know how to search. Can anyone tell me how to search or where I can find a thread about how to search? :laughing-smiley-014:
  15. The crims get more rights than the victims nowadays ... thats so f*cking stupid. Its no wonder the crims do it more and more. Break a bone in them I say, and they won't do it again in a hurry ... just don't get caught on the wrong side of the law. Set it up so it is all 'self defence' in your favour.
  16. Jezzus, I've fired a 30-30 a few times and they're big and loud as hell ... nice flames from them tho. Personally, a much smaller 22 in the legs will always do the trick ... they can't run then. :laughing-smiley-014:
  17. If you know Ben, you'd know he'd be totally against it. I don't think the best man has given up on the idea tho But then again, he is the bride-to-be's brother! I wanna join the hen's night ... they're doing pole dancing! Couple of hot girls swinging from a pole!!! :laughing-smiley-014:
  18. They're all bad drivers in Malaysia. I try to avoid that country, but alot of my OS flights have a stop over there One of my transfers one time drove past a fatality. Bodies hadn't been covered just yet. But what a waste of a GTR
  19. Sounds like you're head strong Tangles. Keep at it mate. Kick up a stink if you have to ... but get what you deserve. Thats basically what its all about: "Get what you deserve" Try to steal from me, you'll get kneecapped. On DSP and can't get back on track, then you should get all the assistance and benefits to support you. S = "support" after all. I know in this great world of ours it doesn't work that way anyway. I'll shut up now ... my mother is Regional Manager for Centrelink
  20. Thats right. I'm referring to the lazy ass bastards by choice. My (ex) wife is/was legally deaf, yet she still got a Bachelor of Arts at Uni with a major in International (German) Studies and learned two more languages while she was at it. Then went on to gain her Masters in Business (me also). If you put your mind to it and work for it, anything is achievable. Unfortunately, the great Govt of ours felt her deafness did not entitle her to her DSP when she turned 21. She musta been due for her hearing to return at 21 LOL. So she was forced into the workforce and is now a Project Officer for Ratheon. Basically, she helps build weapons of mass destruction Both my ex and I live comfortably on modest salaries, simply because we learnt to work our butts off. I have a house, cars, bikes and lots of big boys toys, and I own them all and have no debts. I worked soooooo hard for what I have now. So if people wanna steal from me, there'll be hell to pay.
  21. Love to be there, but I've got Grim's bucks day/night to attend. Paintball Karting Getting drunk Xbox
  22. Elizabeth is the butt hole of Adelaide. I grew up there in my teens and it hasn't changed. Glad I got out of those suburbs and did something with my life. I drive thru there to visit family and friends in Munno Para, and you can see the ferals eyeing off your car/bike and working out how they could steal it. Then again, Hackam isn't any better!
  23. True. I remember when I lived in Takanabe in 1997 and there were alcohol vending machines on the sidewalk. Alot of honesty in Japan then. Would love to visit Japan again, haven't done so in over 6 years. Hospitality there (especially on Kyushu) is overwhelming. Everyone is so honest and friendly. Westerners suck!
  24. I've worked long and hard for years, saving my money and financing my projects/toys, and even went thru a divorce and fought hard to keep my toys! Be damned if I'm gunna let some young punk touch my toys, who can't be arsed to put down the Xbox to get a job but will gladly try to steal from me. If I didn't let my (ex) wife near my toys, what makes you think you'll live within 10 feet of it? I see people all the time trying to get something for nothing in life. You want it, work for it. My brother is the same. He pisses me off that he don't do nothing for himself, and he calls me the "yuppie" or "rich brother". I've told him if I catch him stealing I'll treat him the same as I would everyone else. Don't piss of the hard workers!
