I've got a dilemma at the moment which is that i've got a 300awkw GTR which i'm starting to get bored of the power. 300awkw just isn't that fast in a GTR, i'm running HKS GT-SS turbos at the moment. So, i'm tossing up between going two large singles (2860 -5s or t518z's) or a big single like a t40z. I've never been in a 400kw GTR, is it a lot more fun than a 300kw GTR? Or do i need to go for a big single and aim for 450kw - 500kw?
  2. cool, that's exactly what i needed to know, such little information about these turbos on an rb26. So they would probably come on boost around 4,500rpm then?

  4. I was thinking of buying some -5 turbos to get around 350kw or more on my stock bottom end rb26. However, a friend of mine is selling some larger turbos 2x Kinugawa TD05H-18g 8cm turbos. I was thinking of buying them since they would have more potential later down the track when I get bored of 350kw. Are they going to be unbearable to drive though due to lag?

  8. Yeah true, that is the nature of the game.. I've had that happen to me a couple of times, i've noticed it's always to do with oil temps, and or high revs. I've got Ray from RE Autoworks to fix mine before, i'd recommend him if you're looking at quotes. Oh, and I got a nice snap of your car lining up, love how you've painted the front lower lip silver looks heaps better. Anyways, here are some pics, i've got some videos which i'll upload at some point too.

Felt really sorry for the guy with the silver 33 gtr who blew his engine, i'm guessing it was due to oil starvation as he's come out of that corner really hard then I saw the white smoke bellowing out. I've got a tomei sumple baffle to hopefully help prevent this, but yeah still made me really paranoid after seeing that. My stock oil gauge was saying 120c after 4th lap towards the end of the day, maybe it's just innacurate I dunno because i've got an oil cooler.. unless of couse it's just because i'm running 10w40 viscosity oil, might need to run a bit thicker on the track to keep the temps lower?

  11. Havent changed my oil since right before PI track day last month, i figure it's a bit overkill given it's only been within 300km of use since then... Straight after this event though i'm gonna drop the oil.

  16. Wow, what an amazing day - thanks to the organisers and can't wait for the next one. I knocked off 20sec, 20sec, 10sec, 10 sec 7sec each run then had to back off because of oil temps, but i'm definitely hooked to track days now so much fun.
  17. I've tried my hardest but i don't have a trailer or a car with a tow hook. Ive also had no luck finding someone i know that has one. The renting path is also not going to work just becuase of how early I need to leave. So, what happens if something happens to my car and i can't drive it back up to melbourne? Is there an sau club trailer or can anyone recommend a towing company as a last case scenario?

  19. I'm in the same boat as you, just renewed my licence today and emailed Dan - waiting to hear back what we should do to make sure that we can still buy our cams licence on the day.
  20. Advantage suspension in Moorabin fixed it. Was due to the wheel alignment and also a worn bush in my rack.

  23. This will be my first track day, but I would also like to have a timed lap. Does that mean that I have to pay two fees? Driver Training $190 Standard Entry Fee $210. Total: $400? Can you do both or just one? I'm happy to just do the driver training, but I would like to also get a timed lap - so what should I do?
  24. when you rebuilt it did you add an oil restrictor to the head? Also did you add an external oil head to sump drain? Both of these mods will help to ensure that oil isn't kept just in the head and that your bottom end isn't starved.
