Thanks guys, my mind is made up - Xforce MP02-single tip is going in soon, middle muffler and everything else stays as is except the 3.5" pipe after the diff (dunno why the previous owner put that on when everything else is 3"), this pipe will now become 3", will keep you all posted on the results next week.. Also lookin for some cheap used Jap wheels only, drift/deep dish/aggressive style with low offset - theres Otomoto in North Parramatta, they got cool stuff but currently not what I want, does anyone know of other places in Sydney???? cheers RON

I have an oval middle muffler (3" hi flow) and a 3" cat as well but no resonator.....Do I need this to reduce drone or will the oval rear muffler be enough?
-
Got a quote from Castle Hill Exhaust in Sydney for supplying and fitting Xforce MP02 muffler onto my R34GTT to replace my current monster canon which is too loud for me. I was quoted $350 and have heard many good things about them. There will be some pipework from the diff because my canon is angled and the new bit of piping will be 3" and not 3.5" like my existing (from diff back only, the rest is 3"). And the exhaust will be straight of course. Has anyone used this muffler and what are their views? Quietness/drone etc; Or should I go the twin tip version MP01? What do you people say about the price, anywhere else cheaper for a reasonable job? have looked at Lukey mufflers, they seem to only have the middle mufflers, not the rear muffler like MP01? cheers RON

Thanks R31 Nismoid, would you suggest a 3" free flow lukey oval muffler to replace my resonator beside the diff and the external muffler can be an xforce twin tip with the tapered tips (pic 2).. I'm just worried that the splitting into 2 tips will kill power a bit? If u know a cheap muffler shop in Sydney that would be really helpful............... cheers....
-
R31 Nismoid, are you sure that I need to run TWO mufflers to remain quiet? Well the factory muffler is the quietest of the bunch and its only one muffler and one resonator isn't it? So would the xforce oval mufflers listed above in first message make a nice difference (quieter) compared to a largish canon? I like the twin tip tapered muffler, not sure if it would reduce power mmuch... cheers Ron

Well, umm not really a tuna can, but pretty close - thats my largish canon.. Just thinking of getting an oval XForce rear muffler on my R34GTT to replace the current 5" or something canon which is too loud for me. Have a full 3inch zorst all the way from turbo, 3" high flow cat, 3" oval resonator, then 3.5" pipe (I would rather have this as 3") then the canon. I would like to have a nice quiet exhaust which is still a little bit louder than stock and gives that awesome sweet RB sound when booted. Definitely a lot less loud then my canon so I'm going for an oval muffler. And it must be FREE FLOWING. Could anyone please give their opinions on the 3 options I have below, I like the look of the twin tip with the tapered pipes. Which one would you go for? Please vote or whatever.. Does the twin tip mufflers restrict the 'free flow' a bit?? Please help.. thanx RON

I like the look of the 2nd one with those tapered twin tips, its more supercar like (??), but does that split from 1 entry to two exit pipes restrict airflow movement / hence account for a drop in power?? If so, are these negligible?? cheers..........

R34 Gtt Fmic - Show Us What Ya Got!
rondofj replied to rondofj's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hEY THANKS MATE, THATS VERY HELPFUL OF YOU, I GUESS IT SOUNDS OKAY AS I'M NOT AIMING FOR OVER 300RWKW, JUST A MEAN STREET APPLICATION... CHEERS RON -
Good day dudes, I'm thinkin of putting in a Cooling Pro cooler from Just Jap in Sydney (approx $300 i think for cooler plus piping) in my R34GT-T - current mods - full 3.5 turbo-back zorst with dump, pod filter in cold air box, turbosmart manual boost controller at 12psi. Has anyone got this and any pros and cons of this particular cooler? What size cores are everyone using? LXWX thickness etc, I've read the DIY and know you have to cut bits of the bumper and reo bar etc. How hard is the whole job and how much time does it generally take? And should I go bar & plate or tube & fin, return flow or standard flow etc? Please post up pics of your coolers and how its fitted etc, if possible, that would be very much appreciated.. thanks in advance for the help......... Ron

Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
rondofj replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
hi dudes, which pad should I go with for my R34GT-T (front pads only) for street use only - gets pushed hard occassionally and thats it, want to get real good value for money - QFM sounds good - I live in Parra NSW, any places you guys would recommend for service and/or parts? And which stores I can buy them from - are the Bendix Premium oads from super cheap auto at $72 OK? thanks for the help - RON .. PS - dunno where to get the QFM pads from.. -
$460 I think is for the software licence (which you dont need ) plus board - the tuner should have the software; for the board alone I was quoted $282
-
Wow Random_I_Am, ur saying u got like 36Kw power gain with the board and tune, thats awesome, I dont have a fmic,. and EJD001 you getting a massive gain in throttle response could be something to do with you running 16psi? 16psi on stock turbo and you still going sweet, makes me kinda relieved as I thought my 12psi was a bit much. From what I'm hearing the stock cooler is good for 200rwkw max (or is it 220rwkw??) and a lotta people with the same mods as me are seeing around the 220rwkw mark with a nice board n tune which I dont have yet.. So still dunno if I should bother with a fmic, as I heard it also creates lag with the longer piping. Are the return flow ones much better?

Hi guys, many thanks for the awesome feedback, I reckon Nistune is a good go from what all I've been hearing about it, do you suggest upgrading my stock GT-T intercooler before going Nistune?? I dont intend to do additinal mods like turbo/injector/fuel pump etc, just guna keep it at stage 1 mods. And 'Random_I_Am', did u have any flat spots before Nistune and did that get cured after? Hows the car to drive before and after Nistune?? Differences, response etc. My ones very sharp and responsive from down low, around 2.5k RPMS to around 4.7 or 4.8k k, then I get that nasty lag or flat spot from 4.8k to 5.7k or something, after that, the turbo hits its hardest (quite strong) all the way to 7k RPMS. Find it a bit strange.. So is tuning time roughly 2-3 hours for the R34 and do the workshops do the soldering of the board to the ECU? cheers RON
